I think he did call the dad and then called 911. They were both at the house at the same time.

For me it would be the burning of the documents and the picture sent at 12:45 when she was supposedly very tired and heading for bed at around 11:30. 75 minutes later she's sending a picture of a picture? That makes absolutely no sense to me unless someone else sent it or there is more to her private life than we are aware of.
Yes he did, but that was after he had already been to her home as per 911 call and I'm heading there now per 911 call.

What is the deal with the ring? Why would finding the ring lead to Katelyn? Was she taking it off, threatening to get rid of it, or was it so unusual that it would be known anywhere?

And why call 911 on the way back the 2nd time to her apartment? He had already been there... and apparently told operator he was on his way back there...why not call the first time? Why did he leave and where did he go?

Why are all of her friends and family leaving him out there all alone to flail away in public with all of his contradictions and confusions?

I don't understand why JC didn't use the hidden key outside to let himself into Katelyn's house or even break a window if he was forced to. And why didn't he just show up at David's bridal at 12 noon when most people figure her shift was supposed to start to see if she made it there safe and sound? Instead we have this guy wasting the whole entire day up until 7:00pm in the evening when he and Katelyn's father finally discover that she's missing? Then he calls 911! You mean we're supposed to believe that he wasn't sounding the alarm early in the day frantically calling family and friends when she didn't show up for work? I just don't believe that!

He had his own key.

I think he was probably at work and he thought Katelyn was at work also but when he realized she wasn't replying to his texts, he may have called her dad and her friends. When he found out nobody heard from her or spoken to her, that is when he asked his boss if he could leave to check up on her.

He was there before the 911 call? I must've missed that. :waitasec:

Lol Clu, you are my soul sister I think. I just do not get the ring thing either! Bizarre to me...

I would love for everyone to list the 2-3 things that are causing them to scratch their heads....for me....

  1. The picture of the picture
  2. Burning the documents
  3. Where is her family?
For me its simply the 911 call, so many signals coming from that call, he was giving too much information, trying to sound too innocent, I did this I did that, me me me, we've been together for 6 years, wtf what does that have to with your nameless until 1:06 min fiance being missing? That whole call is one big red flag imo.

As well janitor in talking about slips of the tongue, when he was on NG they had just played the interview when he was talking about the dream

NG: John, tell me about the dream you were referring to.

CARTER: Her engagement ring?

imo I think they should be looking for her engagement ring....

BBM

defense101, they are looking for her engagement ring; upthread there is a photo of it, and there are a number of comments pertaining to what I term, "BOLO for Katelyn's ring."

BOLO for Katelyn...forget about the %$^^$ ring! Unless it worth a million dollars, or had been the target of threats against it....geez....

This guy may be innocent but his 911 call is a classic guilty call...way too much usless info....too much back story...lots of cases show this kind of thing...

cluciano63, I have been asking myself the same questions you're posting ever since I saw the photo of the ring upthread and LE's asking folks to keep an eye out for the ring.

The only thing I can think of (and admittedly I'm no Einstein) is that LE is perhaps hypothesizing that if the ring were to be pawned or sold to a reputable jeweler or other gold buying source, there would be a record (maybe with a copy of a driver's license) of the person who pawned or sold the ring.

While I'm no expert when it comes to diamonds, I keep seeing news articles that the price of gold is quite high now (above $1800. an ounce) so perhaps LE also is hypothesizing that someone would be inclined to sell it.....

Thank you for your post!

The three things that are strange to me are...

The lack of information as to where they were prior to him being at the townhouse and then leaving at 11:30pm and where she/he was during the day on Saturday.

The lack of description of what she was last seen wearing and the total lack of LE involvement with the media. Are LE even searching for her? Seems like JC is organizing his own searches.

The lack of an end to their text conversation...like her saying goodnight or something to indicate that she was going to bed and that not bothering him that evening.

And of course every other thing that everyone else has posted and I'm sure a few more that are yet to come.

He HAD a key, and that is how he got in in the first place, so he says, but he did not actually check to see if the door was locked or unlocked before he did...because he was in a hurry or sumpin- its out there on MSM, can't find it this sec

I'm guessing the ring is the only thing they can determine she had on/with her? They have not been able to tell is any shoes, pants, PJ's, anything else is missing?

This one is strange to me too. It is clearly a dead bolt on that back door which we'd have to assume is the one that is used since that is where the cars are parked. How do you not know that you've opened a deadbolt lock? According to her journal on the art website, everything else in the home was in a state of disrepair, why would the deadbolt lock be well oiled and very easily locked and unlocked. I've never known one that doesn't make some kind of noise and I always know if I've put my key in the lock and turned whether the bolt was locked or not.

I think people might be misremembering. He said numerous times that she was "getting ready for bed" or "I assumed she was asleep" but I don't remember him actually saying he saw her in the bed.

From the 911 call: "She was going to bed. She wasn't going out to do anything, so she would've been in her bed."

I just get weird little flashes of her wanting some space from him, and maybe wanting to rethink the move and the future marriage. She did not want to go, that very night, to talk to his parents about the move to Colorado. IMO, if she were excited and enthusiastic about that, then she would have made the effort.

She told him she was tired and was NOT going anywhere that night. I am sorry, but that is the exact excuse I used to use when trying to slowly extricate myself from a relationship. And the usual excuse used when obe has more exciting plans with someone else instead.

And then those beautiful new pictures she had just had taken. It seemed like she was a different person almost. I feel like she was outgrowing him in some ways. imoo

I wonder if that tip about the RSO who attended Katelyn's school went anywhere.

Why is everything so quiet with this case? No interviews with neighbours, co-workers...anyone who might have something to say other than JC. Is the local media just not interested in the story?

FAIRFIELD, OH (FOX19) - On Saturday it will be two weeks since 22-year-old Katelyn Markham was last seen at her Fairfield town home. Police still have very little information to where she might be, but tell Fox 19 they are strongly leaning toward foul play in this case."I just want someone that knows something to say it, speak up," said David Markham, Katelyn's father. "Somebody knows something, and we need to know that."

No one with information regarding Katelyn's whereabouts is speaking up.

Yes indeed they can retrieve the actual texts. I learned this in the Kyron case (TMI w stepmom sexting right after Ky went missing)

My daughter had her cell lost or stolen on a saturday night. Sunday we went to a Sprint store to see if anyone had been using her phone since then. The salesman instantaneously looked up her most recent text messages and read the last two WORD FOR WORD right from the computer. I was shocked actually. He was like " did you send a text at 9 pm saying MEET US @ STARBUCKS?
