He watches a lot of shows where they give polys and use various terminology on the shows. But, then again...if we are debating how much drugs he is using and if he is mentally challenged than maybe that didn't register?

"Good 'ol boy" JC is starting to remind me of a lying room mate I had once.

The guy lied straight faced about having mailed out the rent checks because he was embarrassed to admit that he'd forgotten, and every single day his story changed because he didn't want to give anything away.

Even if JC didn't do something to KM, I'm betting that he had a hand in some event (getting pissed off and leaving her at the festival, not locking the door if he stormed out, etc) that's making him feel guilty.

He has said things along the lines of "I didn't want it to get this far..."....

"She was just in her bed... but you should really check that shady festival." Because it wouldn't sound that great at all if they fought, he left her there, went to his buddies to blow off steam (or more likely smoke, hee-heee), slept all day, and then didn't even notice she was missing to that evening!

Why didn't he call her at work? Angry at his gf.

Why isn't he dead on with the time? She might have messaged him and he was like "whatever" and didn't take a close look at the text.

Why isn't he dead on with the times he left? When you've just had a fight with your significant other, you don't pay attention to details like that.

Why is he dancing around some things? He probably feels guilty that the last interaction that he had with her was a fight.

Why'd he panic so much when he saw her car? Anxious as to what's gonna happen and if they might break up....OR just flustered as to if something did happen to her. Or just a case of the guilties from fighting w/ his fiance.

He might even have made up the whole text message conversation so that it doesn't sound like he was angry at her, although if he did its not helping to keep suspicion off of him.

I'd call that a fair reason for him to be so flustered. I know I get pretty flustered after the few fights I've had w/ past boyfriends, and my brain certainly doesn't work right the next day, so I think its a fair thing to bring up, especially if he's feeling responsible for this because of whatever fight they may have had.

I'm really quite astonished LE hasn't searched the landfill, given that there was a festival with lots of trash and presumably extra receptacles there.

It's extremely irritating that LE refuses to speak about the investigation. They really should be holding a press conference here and there to keep the community apprised.

Yep Surfie the landfill angle is giving me the heebies- having mentioned the dumpsters situation at the festival, and the surrounding restaurants/stores in a, maybe 2 miles radius. IMO landfills that service those locations need HRD dogs on it, or them....

I worked night shift the night she disappeared and I do remember a thunderstorm passing through the area but I work on the opposite side of town in western hills.

I think someone on this forum said early on that their husband remembered the storm from that night, because he was glad it held off during the Sacred Heart festival, which closed at midnight. So that's a very local-to-Katelyn instance of it definitely storming that night around that time. The Weather Underground records showed rain starting around 11 and a storm around 11:30, as I recall, clearing by 1 am. There may have been more storms between midnight and one, I couldn't find info specifically during that hour.

can see rounding up or down about my age 22/23 depending upon how far away my birthday is, and also thinking "why the heck does MY age matter??"

Actually Nancy Grace didn't ask him how old he was - he volunteered it. She expressed skepticism about him going out to meet friends at 11:30 and he said, in explanation, "I'm 22 years old." He's the one who brought up his age, FWIW.

While I am very suspicious of JC, I am having a hard time imagining he is involved in this for a few reasons. He may not be the brightest and keeps getting some things mixed up in the media, but could he have done something and covered it up so quickly on the spur of the moment so well that it was not so easily uncovered?

I think he could have, if a river did most of the work for him. No digging.

If harm came to Katelyn while they were outdoors and she never made it back home, he wouldn't have to worry about evidence or signs of a struggle at her place, either.

I mean, why not leave her in the house and just leave the door open and find her that way and maintain his alibi?

DNA evidence. Wound patterns, blood splatters if applicable. He watches Dexter; he knows about all this stuff. He may have also recently heard how water and time can destroy DNA evidence because of the Casey Anthony case.

Dexter disposed of his victims in water. (Or at least he did in the earlier seasons; I think I'm a few seasons behind, only watching it on DVD.)

How would you explain the text messages that JC said were sent back and forth between him and KM if they were so mad at each other he left her at the festival? I can't see the text messages happening if she was abducted at the festival.

LE no doubt has the time stamp and contents of those messages and also knows what towers the phones used to send them. IMO if he left her at the festival it would have been reflected in those messages and LE would know that. I find it very unlikely that if he left her at the festival and she was abducted there that she would not be saying something to the effect that she was in trouble if she was able to text him at all.

One other note, if this scenario were true then he is innocent and I think he would have told LE that is where he left her.

ETA: If he left her at the festival he is innocent of any crime. To my knowledge it is not against the law to get mad at someone, nor is it against the law to leave that person somewhere. God knows if everyone that got mad at their spouse or each other would just leave, we would have a lot less cases to discuss here on WS. Not saying leaving someone out in the middle of no where or with shady characters is a good thing either.

ETA2: LE would also know if the text messages were not sent and if JC was lying about saying they were sent.

I may regret it, but I am going to go out on a limb here and say that I think there is a good chance JC has no idea what happened to Katelyn, only because I am not sure he could stand up to the scrutiny he has been under for going on three weeks if he was guilty of some unplanned event that resulted in Katelyn's death. He is a terrible public speaker, he does not "present" well, but I am starting to think he is really is that incomprehensible, rather than simply trying to keep his stories straight, JMO.

I would not put it past Nancy Grace to have edited that interview and shown it multiple times and twisted things out of context her self. He was wearing the same shirt apparently... I doubt it is really live at all.

I wouldn't talk to that shark under any circumstances. Her MO is to first be all understanding and sympathetic to suck you in by believing everything then tear you apart like a hyena with every statment you make.

He was on the phone both times during the NG interview. I don't think the same shirt reference up thread was in regards to the NG show, but the times when he was interviewed by local TV stations. In other words no body knows what kind of shirt he was wearing while being interviewed on the NG show, because he was on the phone.

But wasn't the festival 500 yards away from her condo or something like that?
People were apparently parking on her street and walking to the festival. So it does not seem like she would have been too stranded. The streets were very crowded with festival goers and she was right next to her home.

Are they talking about the stress analysis test? Because I thought he did not take a lie detector test,just a stress test.

I don't know if anyone else is watching the Katelyn Markham's Disappearance: Considering Everything page on FB, but one of the posters who says she was at the birthday party they held for Katelyn says that John told them he took a polygraph, and failed it, for what it's worth. Here's a link:

I don't know how credible she is, but I don't really know how credible John is, either.

Apparently he said he took the LDT and failed on the day of the creepy bday party. Maybe he meant the stress test, who knows.

The deal is, he said he failed some test to his family and friends.

I thought he took a voice recognition test. Isn't that the latest form of a lie detector? From what I understand it isn't widely accepted by the courts.

Neither is a LD test, for that matter. But he only said he took the voice test once his inconsistency was pointed out to him, so we don't really know and LE is confirming, guess what, nothing.
