Found Deceased OH - Kei'Mani Latigue, 13, Toledo, 16 March 2025 *arrest*

TOLEDO, Ohio — A new court document claims Darnell Jones-Ogletree admitted to inflicting the injury that killed his 13-year-old daughter, Kei'Mani Latigue.

According to affidavits filed in Toledo Municipal Court, Jones, who also goes by the alias Jones-Ogletree, admitted to police that he inflicted the wound that caused Kei'Mani's death. The document references Kei'Mani's cause of death as determined by the Lucas County Coronoer: a large laceration to her neck caused by a bladed instrument.

“After having been reported missing [the victim] was found deceased in a vacant building at 1101 Miami Street. The Lucas County Coroner’s Office determined that her death was caused by a large laceration to her neck caused by a bladed instrument. The defendant, Darnell Jones, admitted to this affiant that he inflicted the wound that caused her death,” reads an affidavit filed Friday with Toledo Municipal Court.

Another affidavit filed Friday said he also admitted that “he dragged her involuntarily to the vacant house where he ultimately killed her.”

Judge Nicole Khoury appointed a public defender, through whom Jones entered not guilty pleas during arraignment. The judge then scheduled a preliminary hearing for Thursday at 9 a.m. after setting bond at $2 million for the murder count and $1 million for the other two charges.

I've thought about Kei'Mani everyday, it's been one of those cases. It seems her life was never easy, and despite that we've heard about her grades, awards, and personality shining through.
Almost fourteen. Just four more years and she could have left. No more birthdays, no more awards, no chance to rise above this and build a life for herself.
So very well said. I feel the same way.

It's one of two ways going on here.

1. Someone took it upon themselves to burn it down, for the horror that this young lady had to endure.

or

2. There is still evidence in that building, and someone wanted it burnt down.

The building had been abandoned for some time and was already being squatted in/used as a trash dump, right? I think there had also been a recent previous fire as well? It’s possible that someone else started the fire on purpose or accidentally completely unrelated to the case.

Any guesses on why this would happen?
