A Columbus Police officer shot Darnell Jones, 33, who was wanted in Toledo on a murder charge in the death of Kei’Mani Latigue, after a confrontation where he allegedly pulled a gun on officers around 10 a.m. Tuesday morning, police said. He was hospitalized and is stable.

Authorities charged him with felonious assault - peace officer for the incident in Columbus and he’s expected to be in court for his arraignment in Franklin County Wednesday.

Police say Darnell Jones, 33, was spotted by Columbus Police SWAT officers at Dennison and Second avenues around 10 a.m. Once confronted, police say Jones -- who also goes by Darnell Ogletree -- fired at a CPD sergeant. Court documents stated officers returned fire, striking Jones. He was taken to an area hospital and was said to be stable. None of the officers at the scene was injured.

And I am very happy none of the officers was injured.

I think the braying mobs on social media should take a breather. Last night, they ran wild with claims that the father killed himself and the grandmother was arrested. Neither true.

I think the community would be best served if the police had a press conference to help tamp down the rumors and gossip.

I agree, I also would like to know if her phone was found or what calls etc were on her phone and his. I would also like to know about the gas stove in the house, did he plan on blowing up that house? I would also like to know while he intereviewed on TV who this cousin is? IMO

Sorry if this was already posted. Maybe it's just me, but IMO no 13 year old (girl or boy) should be left alone especially all night. The grandma was more than likely trying to do her best though. Prayers for Kei'Mani's family and friends. May the perp/perps rot in hell!

After DNA technology, they tend to do it to hinder identification of the suspect. I'm guessing she scratched him, and he worried his DNA was under her nails.

Kasten (bio mom) went on to say there’s no reason her daughter would ever be in the area of the abandoned home. She said Kei’Mani would only ever go to school, play basketball and go home. She recounted the last time she talked to her daughter.

“I seen her on the 15th. Her dad brought her down to my house. Apparently my mother gave him permission and honestly it was just loving on my kid. We play video games,”

At 9:00 or so, Dorothy’s interview begins. I don’t like everything she has to say. Particularly how she disciplined Keimani. I don’t think she’s being completely forthright either.

She stated Keimani lived with her for the past five years, but she only had legal custody for a year.

In one of the video news reported up in the thread, the grandmother states that her daughter told her he is not the bio father of Keimani, but that he was more present than the bio mum. I wonder why he is then called the father, his interest was not genuine after all. Terrible.
