A Scioto County man and several of his family members have been indicted in federal court in Columbus in a human trafficking case involving suspected exchanges of drugs for sex with minors.
Investigators say Larry Dean Porter, 69, of Wheelersburg, provided illegal drugs to parents for access to boys and girls.
He abused youngsters, often recording the activities, “potentially for decades,” according to court documents. One confidential source told investigators that children “believed to have been previously abused by Porter” grew up and took “their own children to Porter in exchange for drugs and money.”
“Mr. Porter raped these young women,” said U.S. Attorney David DeVillers. “Mr. Porter filmed himself raping these young women. And he was helped by other individuals... who provided children to Larry Porter to be raped, to be filmed....”
Chris Hoffman, special agent in charge of the FBI’s Cincinnati division, added, “The alleged criminal activity in these indictments are some of the most disgusting, perverse and repulsive acts that I have ever heard of in 32 years of law enforcement... There’s no more egregious case than what we’re standing before you today to discuss.”
Porter faces a 13-count indictment, filed Tuesday, that includes charges of child sex trafficking, obstruction, production and possession of child

and witness tampering. The most serious counts carry potential life sentences.
Eight others are facing felony counts in the case, including one of Porter’s daughters, Crystal Porter, 39, of Franklin Park in Columbus, accused of trying to hide evidence after her father’s arrest.
The charges were announced by DeVillers during a news conference Wednesday afternoon, capping an investigation that involved the FBI, the attorney general’s office and local law enforcement.
A 23-page complaint filed in U.S. District Court in Columbus included allegations and details from multiple victims and years of ongoing abuse, including women forced into sexual acts with minors or into providing access to children in exchange for drugs.
Porter was arrested this year by the Jackson County sheriff’s office as part of an online sting. He is accused of offering $80 to a detective posing online as a parent for access to a 7-year-old girl. After his arrest, Porter, via recorded jail calls and letters, attempted to have family members and others help to conceal or lie about his activities, according to documents.
Crystal Porter and another one of Porter’s other daughters, 32-year-old Denna Porter, were seen at his home and surrounding property digging holes, authorities said. Investigators executing a search warrant later unearthed a memory card in a glass jar with images of a young girl being abused, according to documents.
Porter’s daughters are each charged with conspiring to obstruct a child set trafficking investigation, destroying or removing evidence and making false statements to law enforcement.
