A jury convicted an 83-year-old Ohio man of murder in the shooting of an Uber driver who he wrongly thought was trying to rob him after scam phone calls deceived them both.

William J. Brock fatally shot the driver after wrongly assuming she was in on a plot to get $12,000 in supposed bond money for a relative, authorities said.

I guess LE never found out who the scammer was?

I didn't realize he had shot her so many times. I can't imagine how frightened she was. And the fact that he stayed on the phone throughout the day with the scammers and didn't reach out to law enforcement or other family members speaks to who he is as a person. Somebody that handles business and takes care problems himself. My opinion only.

He's been rightfully convicted however it truly is a sad situation all around. The female cop / investigator could have done a better job on the scene to maybe get closer to who was behind this.

There’s got to be some kind of electronic trail unless the scammers were using burner phones or a VPN?
