I understand very clearly your opinion on this issue and I respect where you are coming from. But I don't believe anyone on here, including me, has blamed the foster mom for the knife attack. I think people are just trying to understand the bigger picture beyond not wanting to make a bed.

I agree there is a bigger picture. I was just responding to comments about how hinky and wrong things must be in that foster home---and I wanted to speak up and say that we do not know that to be true, at this point.

I am sure I am coming off as defensive, but it is a trigger for me...

I would just suggest (not really a criticism) that if you are going to take into your home young people who may be disturbed from a less than perfect home life, it would be better if you were there, full time.

That is a sticky point. There is another case here, about a pair missing foster brothers, and one of the biggest criticisms seen on the thread is that the Foster parents of the 6 kids, do not work outside of the home. Thus they are accused of 'making money' off the children.

And in this case, it is a criticism that the foster mom does have a job? Seems like a 'darned if you do, darned if you don't situation.' lol

I need to know more. I don't have an issue with the previous foster kids , coming to celebrate the FM's birthday. But I do want to know who that man was. I hope he wasn't the foster dad...

I guess I need more information. If there is a good foster situation, then the foster family might still be 'your family', even as you age out of the system.

So even though these 20 yr olds were out of the legally arranged foster system, they seemed to still view the FM as their Mom, and thus would want to go to her home on her birthday. I think that should be a good thing, in general, to have that over all sense of family.

It is just a shame and a shock that there was so much rage and violence in response. I don't understand it yet at all. How did it get to that point?

I agree with that, but this is not a normal family situation. I really do think that they should have waited for the foster mum to be home, but it seems that they did not. I have no idea who is to blame, but I do think this situation, could have, maybe should have been anticipated.

If he was the foster dad, why would he kick a former foster child who came to celebrate the mom's birthday? Why did he kick her anyway, after Ma'Khia tried to jump her?

I'd too like to know who he is. Was he a neighbor?

I had also read that there were 6 people in total, maybe 7? The 2 former foster girls who were attacked, Ma'Khia, the 42 year old guy,...who were the others....Ma'Khia's sister I assume, weren't there more than one male?

Ma'Khia's violent actions, and the whole scenario that happened, while she was in their foster home placement should raise concerns from Child Protective Services, and prompt them to initiate an investigation of the foster mom. I hope that happens so the public knows the truth about what has happened in that house while MK was there, and before her time. I will hold judgement until the facts are known.

It is a tragedy that this young teenager lost her life, and I think that her childhood experiences in life were likely traumatic . But this cop who had seconds to react did what he had to do. Another headline could have read "Police officer saves black woman from being stabbed".

Any uprising by BLM and media inciting news of this case causes a lack of credibility for the legitimate police brutality cases that need to be addressed. JMO

When girl in pink was put into the squad car she was stating that her phone was missing. The officer told her he would find everything and return it. Then you see an officer pulling M away from the car and turning her over to see her back and under her head is a phone covered in blood. As M wasn't seen holding a phone I can only surmise it belonged to the girl in pink. So what phone did she use to call the foster mum after the shots were fired? MOO

My question is why wasn't she living at home with her family? I think whatever happened to instigate rage may have happened over the previous 16 years, as opposed to the previous few months.

If she was a happy, peaceful honour student, why did CPS insist she move into Foster care?

I think there is more understanding to be had from her childhood than from her relationship with the former foster children. But maybe I am wrong. I just hate, as a general rule, to see Foster parents be quickly blamed in cases like this. JMO

Katy hat is the vital question. If she was always so peaceful, and loving in her own home with her family then why did CPS get involved, and put her in foster care?

Could the truth be she was already a troubled child with violent outburst tendencies before being put in foster care or the fatal act of violence?

The only way we would know Ms full backstory would be if CPS released them which they won't.

Has her family said why she was put in foster care?

As you know all too well there are serious incidences already happening for CPS to move them to foster care especially at Ms older teen age.

One thing I did notice they were very comfortable with calling LE for assistance to come help no matter what it was. I think it will be shown LE had received many 911 calls in this area from not so serious to very serious.

Remember the neighbor who lived across the street who had camera footage of it all? He said he heard the shots fired, but waited to see if anyone retaliated before opening his door. So was he use to hearing gunshots in his area? Imo, it sure seems so even before the day it happened with M.

Maybe the press was sensitive to the fact that she just lost her child, possibly due to failures on her own part and decided to refrain from cruelty.

Well, I can give my perception of MB's feelings too. And, what I saw on the video wasn't "fear" and " scared" , it was pure RAGE. ... as in attempted Murder- like rage.
Similarly, I also saw RAGE from the Head-Punter dude...was he afraid and scared, Ms Reid? Good grief!
That scene was so not fear induced, IMO.

Again, the press, MSM/ talking heads...with the " look over here.." and " don't pay attention to the man behind the curtain" begs me to wonder why the truth is so hard to tell for them.? Grrrr

The kicker appeared to say something to MB immediately prior to her running towards the others. I still cannot fathom where he came from, however he seemed to have some involvement, otherwise why did he kick the girl on the ground. Was he a neighbour, friend of one of the participants, the foster father? Who knows but he certainly got involved very quickly JMO

MOO....more may be asking why she needed to come from a safe place

.... and to aggressively come others with a knife after the police arrived. Vs. staying in a safe place.

We don't know what preceded her rage. None of us know that.
Fear can be a factor in rage precipitation.
We need to await the facts here.
Rage does not come out of nowhere.
