Herbert Baumeister a/k/a the I-70 Strangler a/k/a Brian Smart, IN-OH SK, has never been linked to the murders of Beau King, Bill Comeans, or the other teens discussed here. His victims were yoZung gay men, primarily prostitures.

* See the Websleuths thread in the Serial Killers forum linked below.

* Not to be confused with the I-10 Killer who preyed on women in Texas.

A brief synopsis:
Beginning in the early 80's, the remains of young gay men were found buried or dumped in areas along I-70 from Ohio to Indiana. The bodies were nude or semi-nude, and the cause of death in each case was strangulation. All 11 have been ID'd.

In 1991, the findings ceased, but the murders continued. Baumeister purchased an 18 acre property in Westlake, Hamilton County, Indiana. Thereafter, Fox Hollow was the murder site and burial grounds for Baumeister's victims.

The initial investigation into the I-70 murders commenced in 1992 as a follow-up to a witness report.

1995, a P.I broke the case and positively linked Baumeister to the murders.
An investigation of the Fox Hollow property would turm up thousands of burned bone fragments, totalling approximately 25 bodies, possibly more.
Nine have been ID'd. A tenth ID is likely.

In July 1996 Baumeister fled to Ontario after LE issued a warrant for his arrest. In Plnery Provincial Park he shot himself in the head with a .367 magnum, leaving behind a three page letter in which he apologized for "messing up the park"
No mention was made of the murders he'd committed (see wiki link)

Hello everyone!
I'm currently in the process of starting up a podcast and Marvin's case is the first one in which I want to cover. Now this case seemed odd to me from the beginning, with a lot of questions that have not been answered or have been released. Now from the information I've been able to dig up, Marvin's neighbors had interacted with Marvin on the day of his disappearance, noting that everything seemed to be fine. It's also stated that a neighbor had witnessed Marvin getting into dark-colored car, "possibly a 1965 Chevrolet or Pontiac". So, here's a couple of questions that arise from this release of information.
1) Was the neighbor that witnessed Marvin get into the car the same one or one of the same ones that he had interacted with prior?
2) Was this dark colored car a frequent visitor to the mobile home? Did Marvin's mom drive a similar vehicle? The reason for this line of questioning is, why would Marvin willingly get into this dark colored vehicle?
3) How long was it between the first interaction with neighbors that Marvin had and the one where he was spotted getting into the unknown vehicle? That window of time would seem important.
4) This is more of a statement than a question, but feedback is always appreciated. I wonder if Marvin had been targeted specifically. Marvin had been left alone at home, he's twelve-years old, I'm sure he was given some ground-rules by his mother to not leave the home while she was at work. But yet, he was seen by a neighbor willingly get into this vehicle. Did this unknown individual know that Marvin was going to be home alone? Or by the craziest of coincidences, did this individual catch Marvin coming outside and formed a ruse to persuade Marvin to get into the car? Total stranger abductions are rare, but they do happen, did Marvin see a familiar face pull up to his home and he got into their vehicle?
5) There were a few individuals that Law Enforcement had been interested in for the abduction and eventual murder of Marvin, why did these individuals land on Law Enforcements radar? They've never been publicly named, at least not from what I've been able to gather.
What do you all think?
