Saturday, November 1, marks the 15th anniversary of one of Dayton’s greatest mysteries, the murder of Dayton police officer Kevin Brame...

It is a puzzle the Dayton Police Department has been trying to solve for the past 15 years. One of their own, Officer Kevin Brame, ambushed and fatally gunned down in the driveway of his estranged wife’s home.

Kevin Brame, 31, was shot in the back of the neck and killed in the driveway of the home of his estranged wife on Cherry Drive at about 9 p.m. on Nov. 1, 1999. No one has been arrested and Dayton police have never publicly identified a suspect in the case, despite the posting of a $100,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of Brame’s killer...

Rosemary Brame said the killing of her son was more “heinous” because he was ambushed while off duty. “This person knew he was going to be there,” she said of the killer. “He hid in the bushes. He watched him take the two boys into their mother’s home. He watched him come out, take a few steps toward his Tracker that was parked in the driveway. He came out of the bushes and killed him from behind with a single shotgun blast and left.”

Cold case Detective Patty Tackett says, “There’s been a lot of legwork on this case. And a lot of disappointed detectives.”

The concern now is the trail could go cold for good. Detective Tackett says, “I would say witnesses and persons of interest are passing away.”

Rosemary dreams of the day her son’s file moves to the other side of the evidence room, for cases that have been closed. “We thought this would be solved in a matter of weeks.” But this November 1st she’ll still be left waiting.

“He was a good man, that did not deserve to have someone plan his murder.”

Just this week Rosemary Brame commissioned a new website that details Kevin murder. Click here to follow the link.

“Kevin was a beautiful son. A wonderful father. He deserved to live out his life peacefully,” Rosemary said.''
''Now Dayton police revealed for the first time in the last year they assigned two detectives to take a fresh look at the cold case and said the FBI has been helping with the case for a little more than a year.

The FBI said they’re offering up to $15,000 for information leading to the arrest of suspects involved in Brame’s murder.''

''Rosemary Brame says she believes there are people out there in our community who know the truth, and need to just come forward.
"It was not a random act by any means. There were people who planned and discussed with other people obviously the time, and the place where my son would lose his life and it was done in a most deceitful way," said Rosemary Brame.
No one has signs like the one hanging outside of Dayton Police stations for the last 25 years, offering a reward for information.
On Thursday, Miami Valley Crime Stoppers added an additional $15,000 to the reward bringing the total up to $130,000.''
