So can anyone tell me how Jake used a Chicken to burn the house!
And George sure made look like he had nothing to do with it also
One of them said hot oil in a crock pot but I've never seen a crock pot get that hot. I envisioned more like a turkey fryer with an open flame & propane.

It's not federal because the FBI has a policy of never recording interviews.

And it's not Ohio law:

I read 2933.81 B as requiring the interview to be electronically recorded, unless it meets with one of the exceptions in section C.

Lurker, first post
George is charged with murder plus about 20 other things related to the case. If there’s a hung jury or if they find him not guilty in the first charge for (*I think* the jury’s options are Murder 1, Murder 2 or Manslaughter), can’t they still find him guilty on some (or all, or most) of those other counts? In which case he’d likely get sentenced to time in prison (minus time served, I’d think),
Because if the jury members can’t agree if he did any literal murdering, they could “compromise” by finding him guilty of many of those other charge, is that right?
L

Thank you!
I think jurors aren’t supposed to compromise, but I think they probably do
I’ve been thinking about Billy & wondering if he can see/hear/read anything from this trial. If not, his defense team can I’m sure. It would you be a good primer for how to handle his own defense.

And it was electronically recorded, audio only.

Now that GW4 has planted the seed of innocent, when Billy Wagner goes to trial he is going to scream it was just George and Jake that did the murders, remember 2 pair of shoes and the only people there to buy the shoes was Angela, George and Jake, so Billy will lay blame, JMO this plan was created in 2017 those 4 Wagner’s used their defense attorneys to get Billy and George free, JMO
Jmo I extremely disagree it was Angela and Jakes’s plan for George and Billy to go free. Jake couldn’t stand Billy. I wouldn’t think any plan Jake would come with up would involve Billy being the last man standing. Of course Billy is going to use that defense. Why wouldn’t he? The most the state proved at scene was two people. Jmo

And if they do, folks here will still be complaining that Billy wasn't allowed to listen to the answers he gave BCI in his interviews before being cross examined.

Agree. I've decided it wasn't their plan. It's someone else's plan.

It makes you wonder if he and his family have been "give a pass" on this activity for many years, at least locally. It's apparent the extended family of Wagners doesn't see anything wrong with this criminal behavior. Maybe LE and the criminal justice system have overlooked it, too, for whatever reason.

The excessive poaching, hunting out of season, etc. is surprising. Do they not have any game wardens down there?

My uncle was a game warden for decades in an area like this. He knew who everyone was and what they were up to. He had some great stories to tell of busting the locals for poaching, seining fish, etc. With the poachers and spotlighting criminals, he worked at night and set up traps for them. He knew some guys were spotlighting deer by driving a tractor pulling a trailer slowly around a field in the middle of the night. He hid in the woods one night and when they drove by, he hopped up on the trailer and said "Hey boys, hows the hunting? You're under arrest".
This is what is baffling to me about the excuse that he just thought BCI was framing them. What interactions did he ever have with LE that leads him to believe they frame people? Seems he and his family got away with nearly every crime they ever committed. Where was the police knocking on their doors about all those crimes. No suspicion on any of the fires, the thefts, etc. He admitted to 100s if not 1000s of crimes on the stand and he's been arrested how many times? Harassed or falsely accused or framed for how many crimes? Seems he knows how to skirt LE pretty darn well so why is he paranoid about BCI framing them? If he was always suspected of every crime and hounded by LE on many occasions prior to these murders, I could see that being his thinking. He would have a history of LE coming to see him when crimes are committed and him having to defend himself against it. Instead he was never caught in any of the crimes he ever committed.

I noticed that there was no sign of regret or remorse for all the previous criminal activity.
He remembered a lot of details about houses they lived in, how they were burned, how they stole fuel, etc.. But, not nothing was known about the planning or the one night when the murders took place. Very convenient. He went to bed two different times that night from what he said. He said he had no TV in his room but said the kids were in his room watching cartoons that morning when they came back from the shed work…
MOO

It's all Canepa's fault. She refused to let him listen to recordings of his prior interviews so he could keep his story straight.;)

Plot twist - maybe this was in fact the pregnant chicken?

Oh yes he just removed his items because it was going to happen anyway so he didn't want his stuff to burn.
Can someone tell me what the meaning of selling a pregnant chicken means? Why was it so funny to Jake/family?
Yes, I'm a city dweller.

Jmo wasn’t referred to as sleepy kool aid? To me to call it Sleepy kool aid tells me they have said before to the kids.
Omg that’s a good point. I didn’t think of that before, but just the last phrase “sleepy kool aid” reminds me of the sort of people they (the Wagners) are. I think they totally would do that. Geez & this is the family who thought that these little children entrusted to their care would be “protected?!”

Do you recall Angel’s phone call to George, she said when you and Jake get home we got to have a What if meeting, I wonder what that was!!!! JMO

I agree - no sign of remorse or regret. JMO, his sense of entitlement is off the charts.
All three so far have been like that!

I will never forget AW & JW each testifying about protecting their family, with no remorse whatsoever for wiping out two generations of an entire family plus Ms Geneva's two sons, her nephew and Frankie's fiance while leaving the third generation orphans.

Protecting THEIR family. I could spit nails every time I think about those words.

Chickens lay eggs, can’t get pregnant!

We'll see when the judge gives the jury instructions after the defense does closing arguments.

Judge Deering will probably address this issue specifically when telling them how to weigh the different charges. JMO, if they're pretty sure GW4 is guilty of conspiracy or burglary, they have to accept that means he's guilty of murder.

These kinds of laws/specifications have been in place in most states for a long time. I'm surprised that others are surprised that someone can be found guilty of murder even if they were not present when the person died.

But I assume the judge will explain all that to them. If the jurors feel he's guilty of conspiracy but don't want to vote for it because he'll then be guilty of murder, it becomes their problem. They'll be voting to let a killer out of jail who will continue to prey on people in their community. For all the people who think GW4 didn't do anything too bad, how many will be willing to have him and Billy move into a house in their neighborhood?

We'll see. The locals know these killers better than those of us who don't live there.
Jmo he has family in my area now. If George moves back I won’t be scared. I doubt I would see much of him. If he gets out when trial over or in 10, 15, 20 years I would say he will walk the straight way. It is extremely sad for the victim’s families, but you can’t convict someone while having reasonable doubt to try to make it somehow better for the victims families. Jmo

I think because a chicken doesn't get pregnant it was funny. Jake was selling a pregnant chicken or something like that. Not sure why the story was mentioned in court but it was. LOL

It is such a shame.

I am thankful they spared the children.

As much as they worried about molesting of children, they sure had zero issues with leaving kids orphans and having to grow up knowing their parents were murdered while they were in the house or even in the bed with them.
THIS THIS THIS^^^
Do we know who’s caring for all these children now?

And now here they are zero ability to protect their family. It's baffling they could get this far into some narrative that it lead to this. If only Angela would have taken her own advise and got therapy for her trauma or went to police to press charges.
