I believe, IMO, RN’s case IS paid by the humble taxpayers of the State of Ohio. I believe Fred was the only one paying

What makes you think this, Merrygirl? Genuinely interested, since she is not one of the 4 indicted for murder. TIA

:eek::oops:

Maybe someone still isn't following the rules. How clueless can a person be? Does she think she's smarter than anyone else? Or did they find some very incriminating info in recordings of her phone calls?

I also wonder if prosecution is targeting her in order to make her turn against the other W's? Recall no one from the W family showed up to her last hearing.

RN doesn't have the assets or income that FW had. You don't have to be charged with murder to get court appointed legal representation.

Also, the lungs could collapse upon transferring/loading/unloading of the bodies. I once was cleaning up a body after an unsuccessful Code Blue and was in the room by myself, just me and the DB. I rolled her over to clean up the mess and all of a sudden I heard a loud gasp. Wasn’t sure if it was mine or hers BUT after I checked my skivvies for any deposits I high-tailed it out to the Dr to come and recheck her. He did but her status was the same. He explained to me that when I rolled her over the organs put pressure on the lungs and what I heard was the air pushing through the windpipe on it’s exit from the lungs.

Merrygirl, I dressed my mother after she was pronounced dead and the same thing happened when I rolled her to the side - it sounded like she said something to me! It was a bit unnerving.

I remember discussion about lung anomalies like a foamy cone and other lung liquid, mentioned in the autopsy for HMR; I wondered if it meant she breathed a short time before actual death. It's possible since she had only two GSW from small caliber bullets. Have to wait for the evidence to be presented at trial, I guess. jmo/moo

GW4's Facebook is still up and that post is still up---from October 5th, 2018.
From Angela to GW4's Facebook page...QUOTE:
"Happy birthday to my oldest son. I love you and am so proud of you. We can't wait to see you in the morning. Love you always."
No mention that he stayed behind in Alaska and is now, in October, driving home from Alaska. George the 4th staying in Alaska is only a rumor. I challenge anyone to find where it says he stayed behind.
WAGNER IV, GEORGE W DOB 10/6/1991

Also, you can look up the voter registration records for Ohio - AW and GW4 registered about the same time, in 2018. IMO the W4 returned from Alaska together.

Well we need to try to watch all of her hearings live because then you get a glimpse of who is coming to sit on the defendant's side. Sometimes you see more if you can catch it live. We need to see if anyone comes into court to support her.

My take on her arrogant behavior is that she has spent 40+ years being a controlling person and just because she's in jail doesn't change who she is. She will do what she wants when she wants. She has never in her adult life had anyone tell her what to do. To tell her NO. Wow! What a wake up call.

If she's found guilty I have no sympathy, they will hang her. Death Penalty. She then can sit for 20 years of appeals and think about the 8 lives she helped wipe out. There is one woman on death row in Ohio. Very bad conditions. Not the same as everyone else. Your alone and can think of what evil you did.

Let's be honest here. We are following 4 death penalty cases. Very serious . Great evil. Never seen anything like it.

vindy.com | CLEVELAND Woman on death row denounces her conditions

CLEVELAND (AP) --
"The Marysville warden said she was surprised to hear Roberts' complaints.
The only woman on Ohio's death row said she lives a miserable existence in a windowless closet-size cell and has to bang on its door "like an animal" to get food or medical attention.
Donna Roberts, 59, of Howland, convicted of murder in a conspiracy to kill her ex-husband, complained in an Oct. 13 letter to Ohio S.O.R.T., a prisoner advocacy organization in the Cleveland suburb of Berea.
Warden Deborah Timmerman-Cooper of the Ohio Reformatory for Women said some of Roberts' complaints were justified, but that most had been addressed..... "

I wonder why the Wagners quit their dream of living the life in Alaska
And money. I do not think they could afford to stay there.

It's tough to live off the land here without working your tail off during the warmer weather to stock up - even if you're good at fishing, hunting, storing up food, there's a lot you need that takes a steady income, just to stay warm & healthy through six months of cold.

If you can't get along (seems like one or more of the four have a superiority attitude, jmo) and you're low-skilled, or untrained/uneducated, well - jobs are few in Alaska.

A good support system is critical and IMO the relationship with the church group(s) didn't work out (moo) - if you take you gotta give and the W4 didn't seem like givers. JMO the W4 sure don't seem like energetic self-reliant types.

If the "undercurrent of drugs" was in-fact how they did business before, well it would be fairly impossible for newbies to establish that business in an unfamiliar place as remote as Kenai - especially if they didn't have a pipeline of product to sell. jmo/moo

In other words - what may have been effective for them in Ohio just didn't apply here, so the dream died.

Agree. Fred got higher bail because she has money, Rita does not, according to what was said by her attorney at her arraignment.
These Journal entries show the prosecution had to provide counsel for Rita, unlike with Fred who hired her attorney. Fred's attorney is one of the best at winning for his clients. He show-boated but that is what Fred wanted because her case was heavily in the media.

JOURNAL ENTRY - STATE OF OHIO SHALL FURNISH COUNSEL FOR THE DEFENDANT WITH ALL DISCOVERABLE MATERIAL REQUESTED BY THE DEFENDANT

And also this was in her journal entry:
Counsel for the Defendant acknowledged to the Court that the Prosecuting Attorney and Special Prosecuting Attorney had furnished counsel for the Defendant with a Bill of Particulars on the day of the pre-trial hearing.

What do you mean "when she was killed" ?
Who in their right mind brings up a deceased person's charges? You totally lost me here...
What kind of world do we live in? It hits a nerve because I lost my sister not long ago, my only sibling, so I will stop now.....:(

OT—So sorry to hear about your sister and my thoughts are with you. ((Hugs)). About 10 yrs ago my sister in-law (we’ll call her “Jane Doe”)was taken way too early. She and her significant other (businessman) got in an ongoing feud with another businessman. Both men were sheisters (moo) but the other man shot and killed both “Jane” and her S. O. Krapenc (now AW’s lawyer) was the def lawyer. About 5-6 yrs before this happened “Jane” awoke to find a woman standing at the foot of her bed. “Jane” grabbed a gun and chased the girl out of the house then shot into the air to scare her. The other girl filed attempted assault charges and eventually they were dropped. “Jane” didn’t want that on her record and paid big $ (I don’t know the particulars) at court to have it completely removed from the records. At the trial Krapenc had dug up the incident on “Jane” and had planned to use it as part of the defense but the State conceded on behalf of family on another issue so it wouldn’t be brought up. I’m sorry if I stirred up bad feelings for you about your sister.

No you didn't, thanks for the warm words. My emotions creep in so then I know it's time to take a break. I don't know how homicide detectives deal with their emotions. Reader was near tears. Takes a certain type of individual to deal with society's underbelly day in and day out. So glad for Jane that it wouldn't be brought up, thanx for sharing MG

Does anyone have a copy of RN's Bill of Particulars? I don't see one posted on WS. Thanks.

Is Rita Newcomb going back to court before 8-28-2019?

Yes, if Deering rules in the affirmative on Junk's motion:
MOTION TO EXPEDITE REVOCATION HEARING

He doesn't want to fool around. Rita broke a strict house arrest rule by having long conversations with Angela. Not simple conversations like "love ya mom how ya doing?"

She will go back to jail I think because judge Deering said something to the effect that he would not be pleased if the 2 of them were discussing the case.

Rita needs to get her affairs in order and line up care for her mom ASAP! I
see her getting her house arrest revoked...

Her excuse that she doesn't have Caller ID won't hold H2O.
Junk must have heard something alarming on those recorded jail calls for him to not want to wait until the 28th for her hearing...2 Cents........

Because, iirc, in January FW was the only one to pay for her lawyer. You can get a court appointed one if you are indigent whether or not you murdered someone. IMO, she doesn’t have the $ to pay for her lawyer. I couldn’t locate the link regarding the approval of State funds but it is only for the W4. FW & RN were not privvy to that since they were not charged with murder.

Ohio AG: State should cover most of $1M cost in prosecution of Rhoden family murder cases
excerpt from above link:
“Her lawyer told the judge Newcomb is a grandmother who depends on social security as well as a school teacher. The attorney also argued that she is not charged with violent offenses. The judge set Newcomb's bond at $50,000. If she gets out on bond, she will be under house arrest at her mother's home.” It took her a few days to come up with the 10% and “ According to the motion Gerlach filed, “the custody documents in question in the indictment do not indicate where the alleged forgery took place. At all times relevant, defendant was a resident in Scioto County and did not have transportation to Pike County.” Improper phone conversations topic of hearing - Portsmouth Daily Times

I just had a weird thought. I wonder if RN and AW are saying things during these phone convos to deliberately mislead investigators. AW and RN must know they are being overheard. On purpose... probably not. Just pondering cause I can't believe anyone would be dumb enough to continue to communicate w each other.

You could be right. They admitted during their conversations that they knew they were not suppose to be talking, yet knowing this they continued. Yes they very well probably tried to "frame" other people for the murders during their conversations. They know jail calls are recorded but hoped they could skip on by because jail staff can't listen to everything every day. But eventually jail staff did listen to all their recordings.....2 Cents.....

Thank you. I just had not ever seen anything that said the state was paying her legal costs. And I'll have to go back and look, but I don't remember her being indigent, according to court entries. I'm not trying to argue, just would like to know for sure. Thanks much. All JMO
