The defense attorneys are just trying to get GJ info out to the public before the trials in hopes they can taint the jury pool.

Reason#502 why these trials need to be held elsewhere or a clean jury brought in from another county.

I do not not see why a change on venue would not be the best avenue to take here. Maybe it has been ordered but I have not seen it ,if if hasnt that would be very suspect because it appears only the local media has reported this case even though it has national new merits.

thanks good info!

Recall, also when they determined that there was no link to the Ohio drug dealer who was involved in a shootout down near the Mexican border?

Ohio AG: Hatch Police officer death's suspect not connected to Pike County family killing

Ohio LE determined there was no connection to the Rhoden murders. After that DeWine asked Dept. of Homeland Security to see if there was any international criminal connection to the Rhoden murders and they found no link.

I remember, because that was my theory in the beginning. It turned out to be a dead end, of course. There had been a small amount of cartel activity in and around Pike County, but that was many years before the murders. The grow op the Mexicans had there was busted.

If Chris and Kenny had a significant grow op, it wasn't enough for the cartel to have an interest in. Some of us read through all those DEA Threat Assessment reports for 4 or 5 years and couldn't find any activity related to any cartel bringing in or trafficking in MJ in Pike or any surrounding counties.

No matter how much we tried to stretch and make that connection, there wasn't anything. Mexican MJ traffickers would have stood out in Pike County, people would have noticed them. There was plenty enough demand in the market around the region for CR1 and KR to sell there. I'm still not convinced they had all that many plants and obviously, they weren't sitting on a lot of money.

A decision on change of venue hasn't been made yet. There was a lot of discussion about it just after the arrests, when people realized how many trials would be involved and the limited size of Pike County's budget and criminal justice system. There was concern from some about having all the trials in Pike County because of the limited amount of impartial people available to seat all the juries needed for 5 trials. Some also have concerns about the power and influence of the Wagner family among the local gentry.

Episode 61 of Lawyer Talk podcast had some insight into the issue of how to arrange and manage the trials

Because it is required that Pike County has to try to seat a jury first. And...I believe these cases, all of them, should be tried in Pike County, where these horrible 8 murders were brutally carried out. JMHO

IMO, change in venue, etc, is going to be a l o n g g g g time coming, as is many many many other aspects of these dirty trials. Yuk.

Yeah, they're just taking one step at a time right now. JMO, they've moved along the pre-trial hearings pretty well thus far, though I think there will be more delays before any of the W4 trials begin.

I did not know this information.

I knew of, but knew absolutely nothing about, Websleuths. I did not learn what WS's is all about until I joined at the end of December 2018---my point being---that this is great information I wasn't aware of. I really like it when people share information! :D Thanks to you and all of you great sleuths on here!

Websleuths is the best non-MSM place for information and posting about this Case. Take my word for it. I looked everywhere for a good place to discuss the Rhoden/Gilley crime. What's wrong with me? I can't even say murders. It hurts to say it...:(

Has anyone of you sleuthers saw Fredericka interview at the pop machine, where she tells the reporter at the end that she never even knows the Rhodens, when the reporter asked her about being brought back up on charges, just wonder why Fredericka would spend All that money on attorney fees if she never even knew the Rhodens family, why not say that in the beginning to LE, this woman appears to me to love money more than anything, she cons the poor and applies for some questionable business licenses just saying, JMO

JMO, she'll have a hard time proving she didn't know the Rhodens, especially considering her grandson lived with their daughter and had a child by him. They also lived just down the road a ways from Flying W Farms.

She wouldn't have said any of this if she didn't know the Rhodens:

"...Wagner said she bought the vests because she feared that her family would be the target of violence, because of Billy’s relationship with Christopher Rhoden Sr. Also, one of Sophia’s parents was a Wagner, the other a Rhoden.

“I thought that they were going to kill Billy because he was such good friends with Chris Rhoden,” Wagner said. “I thought they killed Chris because he knew something.

“If your son was the best friend [of a victim], and something like this happened to that family, and your grandson was, in my eyes, married to Hanna [Rhoden], you better be scared. They might come after this family, too...”

On the dockets as of today:

AW Sept 16 at 1:30, hearing on Motion to Suspend Privileges

EJW Sept 17 at 9:30, hearing on Pre-Trial Non-substantive Motions

GW4 Sept 20 at 9:30, hearing on Pre-trial Non-substantive Motions

Nothing scheduled for the biggest Coward, GW3 who will, IMO, go last in these trials. Does anyone have to wonder why? Mommie Dearest has money: the root of all EVIL. JMO

Thanks, Loomis 124!

I wonder if AC has gotten all the discovery requests completed? IIRC, she still had some to finish for RN.

No entries on the record, but RN is not due back on stage until Oct 7. Heeee Haww!

AC is not gonna give it up till the last minute. The Defense counsel for all 6 has given her nothing. Where is the reciprocal Discovery they were supposed to provide? No worries though. AC heard the recordings of those phone calls. She knew what was coming. She's absolutely amazing!! I can hardly wait to see and hear her in action!! JMO

Something else I thought of...betcha a pretty penny the discovery of the documents in the plastic tote...are going to be "for attorney eyes only!" Has anyone figured out why? Just think about it, she's charged with forgery. If you were her and given the opportunity to SEE the documents in evidence against you, wouldn't you know in an instant if they are the real ones? After all, your signature is there, too, is it not? Her whole case rests on this evidence. She can't remember what she was shown in the GJ proceedings and what she owned up to! That's why she is dying to see the transcripts and the documents. But...in her case, these are not subject to Discovery, or at least for her eyes and ears. Sure don't mean to attack you, Betty. I've just seen this forever and held back saying it. All JMO

Betty, do you remember what was said concerning "Texas?" I'm thinking someone downloaded the GUARDIANSHIP forms from a Texas online web site, printed it, and the W4 signed as various individuals. And perhaps the date printed was removed from the bottom and replaced as a cut and paste...JMO and example. Other thoughts very welcome!

Ritas's Attorney:
July 20-19 we asked for a list of copies of the entire contents and documents contained in the tub marked important stuff that was seized from Angela Wagner in which the State claims does contain the custody documents allegedly notarized by Rita Newcomb. We are searching for certain documents that the prosecution is aware of previously dated 8 something which these alleged custody documents, but actually they're guardian documents.

Judge: They're what?

Rita's Attorney:

It's actually titled guardian summarized as custody documents.

Judge: So you've asked for copies?

Rita's Attorney:
I want to know what is in this box where they found the original---I put original I'm not sure they are original---copies of something that was copied from a Texas Website talking about guardianship. But there's others that we're looking at, hand written signed on dates she notarized, some of that were hand written dated on the dates in which she notarized the printed document.

Judge:
Ok you found out about these through discovery? And then you asked for copies of them?

Rita's Attorney:
Yes, well we want to know what was in them that particular tub of materials that I'm looking for. I don't need to know everything that's in it, it's just these 3 handwritten (similar?)
documents. Documents which are dated the same dates as the ones printed out--- the subject of which the documents---same date as the documents that are the subject of this particular trial.

Judge:
I guess maybe I'm not following, you found out about these documents through discovery?

Rita's Attorney:
Well yes through search warrants that were issued for those---I think it represented prosecution that they had received this tub marked important stuff.

Later Canepa tells the Judge that Rita's attorney found out about this box marked important stuff from "inventory of contents from the Search Warrant" and from "discussions from Angela Wagner on phone calls." I assume Angela told Rita then Rita told her attorney.
