George Wagner is accused of killing a family of 8 living on a pot farm in Pike County OH. While first thought to be drug related the killings now could be the result of a custody battle. 3 other members of the Wagner family have been arrested as well. So many twists and turns and Websleuths members are on top of every single thing that happens in the shocking case.

The gruesome slayings have rattled this southeast corner of Appalachian Ohio, a region that culturally identifies more closely with neighboring Kentucky and West Virginia than the state’s northern cities.

[...]

Adding to the shock was the discovery of hundreds of illegal marijuana plants on Rhoden’s property, highlighting the region’s dependency on the illegal drug trade as jobs in agriculture and timber have dried up.

MOO
This all seems like medical stuff. Could be RW is taking some kind of first aid classes for when at the horse shows in case of accidents ...
But why wouldn’t she have paper or a notebook to write notes on if it was important to learn.

Another line of thought is.... suggestions for medical emergencies in the jail. But no one could read that stuff from a distance upside down..
UTI
Mini stroke
Can’t breathe
Fire
Poison

Regardless, RW shouldn’t show up in court with writing on her pants, after all the “communication “ issues and warnings.
I do feel some sympathy for her. She seems so lost.

I agree. She needs to change into other clothes for court. While the defendants can't read the writing that quickly, the lawyer could gather it and share it. And there would be no record of a meeting.

My best guesses are 1) she's conveying messages to the defendants. 2) She's going to keep doing this throughout the trials to try to create a loophole to win a post-conviction appeal for her sibs.

She's suggesting possible defense narrative
I don't want to elaborate and add to her defense but think behavior change defense.
Need to stop this

Why would he do this? If I was innocent I would want my trial ASAP to get out of jail

Apparently it wasn't his idea, it was his attorneys' recommendation.

We have had discussions on here before about who would be tried first, who last, and the benefits there-of.
I think Jake's attorneys waiving speedy trial to the extreme future date of 2021, means they want to have at least one or two of the other family members tried ahead of their client.

This is good strategy. When/if one of his family members is proved guilty it would totally be in Jake's best interests for his attorneys to know WHY the jury came back with guilty.
Obviously, there could be very specific evidence that held a high sway with jurors and Jake's attorneys could try to get that evidence thrown out or compromise it/minimise it in some way. Or counter it with other evidence and testimony etc...
(2 Cents)

I agree with you though, if I were wrongly arrested and indicted for a crime I knew nothing about (Cartel did it not me) I would want a speedy trial.

No trial for Edward Wagner likely until 2021; rulings on dozens of pretrial motions postponed - Portsmouth Daily Times

"...During his pretrial hearing Tuesday morning, murder suspect Edward “Jake” Wagner once more waived his right to a speedy trial, this time extending the deadline for his trial until January 2021. Defense attorneys told Pike County Court Of Common Pleas Judge Randy Deering they recommended the move to their client, presumably to give them the maximum amount of time to prepare their defense..."

I was surprised those shirts were allowed in the courtroom with the comment on the back about Justice for the Rhodens.
T-shirts honoring murder victim prompt push for courtroom decorum order
Billy Wagner, son Jake Wagner, appear in court in Pike County's Rhoden massacre case

They should wear what they want until trial is my opinion. I hope this courtroom decorum issue won't apply until trial.

From article:

T-shirts reading, "Happy Heavenly Birthday Chris" on the front and #RhodenStrong on the back prompted Billy Wagner's attorney, Mark Collins, to push for what's called a courtroom decorum order during a hearing Tuesday in Waverly.

"No disrespect to the victims of the loved ones who were lost," Collins said.

Collins wants Pike County Common Pleas Judge Randy Deering to set rules outlining what will and won't be allowed in court when Wagner goes on trial... "

Inmates has some kind of prepay IPad to check emails

Can you point in the direction of where you found that information? If they are allowed to use the internet and it wasn't monitored do you think they would use the phone knowing it was recorded? Unless it was left open for a reason which to me would seem dangerous. Inmates could plan escapes, have drugs brought in and plan hits on informants in that manner.

I wonder what the Wagners jailhouse inmates think of them? Knowing that the 4 Wagners are accused of killing one 16 year old kid and two 19 years old mothers while their infant children are in bed with them just to be found in pools of blood also the Chicken $hit way of murder while the Rhodens where asleep that alone should make Billy Bad A$$ and his family a mark of prey for the other prisoners to take advantage of their snack, blankets pillows and survival food, JMO

I found this for prison inmates GTL Tablet solutions
As we all know there are differences in jail time and prison time. It makes me wonder if they haven't mentioned it, so they could watch them? Or if it's available for jail house inmates?

You can bet there are people watching them. They shot a kid hiding between the wall and his bed through the top of his head twice.

I doubt it. Not in jail, prison though thats a whole different beast.

An employee at GW4's jail said that inmates who are high profile like GW4 have to be watched more closely. Point is, I think that the jail sees the Wagners as VIP's who have to be monitored closer and protected from other inmates.

The Wagners have to fight their cases from jail and if inmates are allowed to target them then the Wagners and their attorneys can claim they are being denied a fair trial by being harassed---which then makes it difficult to mount a defense.

I bet any inmate who messes with a Wagner gets shipped out to a different pod.

I think the jails are handling the Wagners with kid gloves. If GW4 wants solitary he will get it.

All bets are off after they leave jail...then they will be harassed subtly and not so subtly by everyone including various prison employees. If they do end up in prison.....2 Cents

IIRC, Judge Deering ruled on that last spring. Glad they're showing spirit and a nice tribute to CR1, but he'll probably not allow it during the trial.

Sometimes it makes me wonder, just why even bother to go through DP trials? What a joke!!!:confused:

"Despite the appeals court ruling, it’s still an open question whether DeWine will now allow executions to proceed. When he initially delayed them, he said: “Ohio is not going to execute someone under my watch when a federal judge has found it to be cruel and unusual punishment.”

Appeals court says Ohio execution protocol doesn't cause unconstitutional pain
