Yes, we like to bring this up when people insist the Wagners are such a religious, law abiding family compared to the Rhodens. One family worked hard, long hours, went to church and didn't get arrested for stealing, etc. The parents in the Wagner family were like the Bonnie & Clyde of Pike County.

Dayton Daily News has done some very good in depth coverge on the Rhoden Family Massacre. Their articles are always good to keep bookmarked, very detailed and well researched.
They must have missed the sermon about Thou shall not murder! Moo

There's no Thoroughbreds nor Arabians here in this explanation...

Flying W Farms Inc on EquineNow

She might be a shareholder in a racing Thoroughbred ownership "syndicate", however; as sometimes a large group of people will band together and purchase a small percentage of ownership interest apiece. However, I wasn't able to find any record of that; so I think the Guardian has just gone doolally (Cincinnati's FOX affiliate sloppily quotes them, which is worse - don't you think they'd want to check, see if there might be an interview angle with some wealthy Thoroughbred people?).

At one point in time, they did have some Arabs, or at least one, and the show pony Blue Boy, had some Arab in him from what the site reads.

I'm glad you drilled down there to find some corroborating information! I did see someone on a message board indicating the Wagners (might have) owned Arabians in the 60's - not Fredericka's '60s but the USA's - but again, this was only a brief message on a forum and wasn't even all that clear in its nature (just because the purchaser bought an Arabian horse from somebody, doesn't mean that when they were looking at horses from the Flying W, that the Flying W was selling Arabians); and of course this type of source isn't remotely MSM...

I have a friend, who was bringing some of the first pure breeds over at that time. They remembered them, too, not fondly, I might add, from shows they both attended. I also had an article, about the Thoroughbred and Arabian, they had, but can't locate it. I will continue to try to find it, but will have to look a bit later. I'll have to dig.

Also, not trying to say anything in particular about the Wagners myself here, but I used to show Arabians regionally in my teens; and in her teens, my sister went to Nationals and had a well-regarded US trainer whom we were around a lot of the time, getting the verbal lay of the land (this was the 80s and 90s).

If such a thing is indeed the case here (not saying it is yet), it would by no means be uncommon for a breeder who has been, for want of a better word, "drummed out" of one breed association; to then make a lateral move towards breeding a different kind of horse. Not at all unusual. In fact, I'm sure I've heard it said about at least two non-Wagner "Arabian" breeding and training establishments over the course of my adolescence. The theoretical establishments became such a hissing and a byword amongst the Arabian community that they had no choice except to switch gears and breeds, all the while saying bland expected stuff like "just needed a change, yeah" to their former cohort when asked.

We had a similar discussion. I don't want to go much further though. I get what you're saying.

IIRC, the victims' families didn't participate or give interviews due to the gag order, so that probably didn't help. To give credit to Oxygen, they put together a very good multi-part show on the Rebecca Zahau case with Paul Holes (from the Golden State Killer case) and many other experts. Its possible they didn't have much to work with on this case, with the gag order in place.

I agree, excellent Zahau multi-part series.

Are there sometimes held at Churchill Downs that are not for Thoroughbreds?
Maybe that is what FW was talking about.

That is astonishing! How? Why?
Or maybe there was a will and FW didn’t like the way it was set up and she paid the lawyer off and just like that there is no will and she can do as she pleases, I know it sounds far fetched yet it happens everyday. Just my opinion and thoughts.

To the best of my knowledge, Churchill Downs is a thoroughbred track. JMO

How is this possible with what they owned...he died intestate.
It's possible they put everything in a trust. My sister did that for my our parents before dad died. The nursing home made our mother fraudulently sign away rights to all she owned - she had dementia and didn't know what she signed. Well, dad died first and because mom then didn't own anything, the nursing home couldn't put a lien on their home - it wasn't hers, it had gone into the trust. We paid the nursing home out of the estate, which meant they didn't get a $200,000 property to pay the bill after she left the nursing home. I brought her home with me to live out her last years.

You'd think even if the bulk of the money is tied up in businesses or whatever, a man of his wealth would have left a will of some sort. Personal bequeaths of some sort. JMO

...

As time passes, I am amazed the number of people of varying wealthy who do no planning...leading to years of fighting, leaving lawyers smiling :o

Do you have a picture that we can see?
I think this poster means GW3 not 4. You can see GW4 in short sleeves and see his hands and there is a tattoo on his left and right forearm but you can't even see the whole thing, just part of them. There is no sign of him having what his dad has. (symbol of 8 murders)

Wonder what they might know .......living on the roadway.......that April may have had unusual activities.

CC I read the discovery it stated, tattoos On George Wagner, you could be right but GW4 has a tattoo on the inside of his left forearm + he keeps his arms held all the time trying to conceal it, in that same discovery they refer to his dad as Billy,
JMO
The person that posted the information yesterday said it was 4 Aces behind a skull with a 8 ball in its mouth, the Whole bunch is whacked if it’s true, to show bragging rights of the Rhodens murders, there is no place on earth for people like this, JMO
