On here feel free to ask what or who an initial belongs to. If you let posters private message you and someone can't divulge an initial on the thread, then myself and others on here can PM you to let you know.

Here are the names and initials for the Wagner family who have been arrested and are in 4 separate Ohio jails.

Some of us have been here longer than others but when we get new members to this thread who are just learning about the case the information is valuable. It also provides a refresher for the rest of us from time to time. Thank you, Cool Cat for doing all that you do.

I know abbreviations and initials are necessary for shortening the posts, but I wonder if there could be something in the media thread on each thread that simply lists "cast of characters". I don't follow most cases, and have to read a lot to get to know who the initials pertain to.

Not news but good information.

Not everyone has all this memorized:
Which Wagners are in which jails, the names of the 4 different jails, and what 4 different cities each jail is located in.

Also, where are 2 of those cities located?
Like Delaware City is 30 miles north of Columbus and Hamilton City is 20 miles north of Cincinnati.

I like this information being in one place and thought others might as well in case the virus starts spreading in some Ohio jails.

In her 19 years working on Rikers Island in New York City, one corrections officer tells TIME she has never seen anything like the chaos and uncertainty that the novel coronavirus is causing in the jail system.

All I can figure out is Sua Sponte means:
"In law, sua sponte (Latin: "of his, her, its or their own accord") or suo motu ("on its own motion") describes an act of authority taken without formal prompting from another party. The term is usually applied to actions by a judge taken without a prior motion or request from the parties."

Well I also wonder if "something is up" pertaining to GW4 because the last court date listed for him is January 21st, 2020.

This coincides with his attorneys going to BCI to get a better handle on the evidence against him, including the recorded conversations the prosecution says the defense needs to focus on.

Perhaps the prosecution is planning to play these particular conversations for the Jury?

Does this include criminal investigations? I think this would put a but wrinkle in using wiretaps. I always assumed it was when one person was recording another outside of law enforcement

Sherlock's Case Files: Locating Wiretaps and Bugs...Without Any Special Equipment!

In Ohio you do not need anyone's consent to record them if you are part of that conversation. However, if you record 2 people talking together without getting permission from one of them, then the recording is illegal and it might or might not be admissible in court.

I say might or might not because
each State has their own recording laws, for example, CA allows secret recordings where no one gave consent if it pertains to criminal activities. Does Ohio allow this? I don't know.

Bottom line, LE can get around recording laws by simply having enough probable cause to get a wiretap warrent, similar to having enough probable cause to get a search warrant.

In the case of the Wagners we know recordings were obtained legally because the prosecution is
using Wagner conversations as evidence.

I am guessing that a wiretap warrant was taken out for either an individual to record the Wagners or for BCI to record them. (Individual could be a trusted employee or even a close family member who chooses not to be named.)

I think it is entirely possible that the searches in May 2017 could have been used as an opportunity to put in wiretaps throughout the Wagner homes.

Be interesting to find out when the revenge and escape conversations were recorded. I think they were recorded right before they went to Alaska, or right after they came back, or both.

We know the recordings happened after they realized BCI was on to them which seems to me that they would have realized this around May 2017.

“Our client has expressed some frustration, but we’ve assured him that’s how it’s going to be in the future,” Wagner’s attorney said.

Wagner’s attorneys also say they are frustrated by the setup in the Pike County courtroom itself, saying it would be hard for their client to get a fair trial with the limited audio-video capabilities of the antiquated courtroom.

Question: They never allowed us to have access to the unredacted autopsies in files like the original files did they? They were only allowed to be viewed by journalists who were gathered that day correct? Can they be requested by authors and journalists today?

They are sealed under court order from what I recall and I think they also said it could affect their case if they were released.

I don't think we will know till the trial. And then we may wish we had never known the horror and torture this fear family went through
