I agree with the legal person on Court TV. I think AC is doing a good job.I was a little concerned also with AC's grammar during the opening statments, but a former legal person on Court TV said that she was doing well delivering her statement.
What time are the coming back from lunch break? Any indication AC is almost finished with her statement?
If the defense statment is this detailed and long, IMO there won't be many if any witnesses testifying today.
It was good to see Geneva Rhoden in court today. She looks like a very strong lady to go through all she has.
I think with this long of a trial, most won't recall much about this opening statement anyway. If they jury is allowed to take notes, then maybe they can note points she is making and refer back, but this is so long it's impossible to really remember it all. The witnesses and evidence will speak loud and clear and then someone (maybe not her if this is how a closing will go) needs to deliver a precise and short closing.Surprised by the states opening, Canepa seemed far more assertive and prepared in her courtroom demeanor than in this opening statement when she was arguing in court during pretrial hearings, she is going over all the evidence in a logical and chronological fashion but keeps wandering off topic and then having to add things she has missed telling jury,
Maybe her strengths are in the questioning of witnesses and arguing on points of law, I am very pleased though that they have all the evidence on a computer, and she can pull up documents and pictures as needed, so that the jury can see the evidence she is talking about, chilling to see the actual gun in Jakes hand,
Yes a juror asked about taking notes right after the opening statement started, so they stopped to hand out notebooks to them. They were already going to be allowed to take notes from witness testimony. The judge said that this morning. I heard all of this on Court TV.I think with this long of a trial, most won't recall much about this opening statement anyway. Well that's not what I wanted to hear...Very poor delivery of the open statements!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ummmm ummmmm ummmm ummm.
Hope g4 can stay awake!
very empty court room, lots of seats available.
its all the ummmms , IMO. She should just pause with no sound...Is AC a seasoned litigator? She is definitely coming across as very unprepared IMO
And it doesn’t seem it’s limited to just names. She’s started back up correcting several things - small details - that she “misspoke” on earlier. It’s pretty disappointing after all this time.I am surprised, how she can not get people names right. Had CRsr. Living with DR and HR. if the word uhmmmmmmmm can free G4, then he will walk. Totally blew opening. She acted like she had never seen the papers she was reading from.
Good to see you @geevee You and I have watched a bunch of trials here. This opening is a trial in itself. This is one of the most disconcerting opening statements I've ever endured, she had an unexpected extra week to work out the kinks and organize it properly, and the jury gets this - I'd be surprised if any of them can follow it.
"If that matters to anyone"...."I didn't write that down"..."That was incorrect, I didn't mean it"...lordy.
