Maybe a pattern here.

In the Air Force, AW worked in their warehouse. After an unexplained early discharge from the AF, she was later charged with stealing from her employer, the Acme Boot Co.

Completely IMO, but maybe she was also caught stealing in the AF warehouse. AW and Billy seemed think they were very skilled at stealing.... At least until they weren't.

ETA - pinch me, is a trial really about to start after 6.5 years? Finally some justice in sight for the Rhoden/Gilley/Manley families though I can't imagine how difficult the trials will be for them to watch.
do you know where I could find more information about when/where she served in the Air Force. Perhaps what her job title was. There could be several honerable explanations for her early release. During the 1990s for instance there were a lot of Brac base closings and early out opportunities to reduce the force. However, with her track record she could very well have been forced out if she was caught stealing, or drug urinalys, or other dishonorable reasons.

@ohioexpat63 I'm going to defer to you here.

IIRC AW served on an AF base in Florida.

I bet the order of their trials was a strategic one for the prosecutors. Maybe they felt Jake would get panicked with being first and take a deal. I think whoever was first might have had that pressure. Doubt Billy would have ever caved to a deal. Interesting now reading your post and thinking... I bet it was the pressure of his trial being first. Then momma, then George, and you know Billy is last because no way he's caving. I think he would hold out till the end and just take the DP.

George actually had a trial scheduled a few years back because his speedy trial was running out. His lawyers said they needed more time to get the evidence and convinced him to sign a speedy trial waiver. Not sure if that was his first or second he signed but I got the impression he wanted to go to trial at that time but was convinced by his attorneys to postpone it.

Considering he wanted solitary confinement instead of living with other inmates and was the only Wagner to ask for bond at his preliminary hearing and was the only Wagner to have a full out bond hearing with Scheiderer testifying and is now having a trial, considering all that I think he has always wanted his trial as soon as possible and I think it was a mistake on his attorney's parts to wait so long.

It was said Canepa wanted to try Jake first and I believe she knew there was the most evidence against him and he would cave in to a deal.

Imagine if George had gone first without Jake taking a deal, without Angela's and Jake's testimony. Then the defense could put forward other suspects, now they can't.

Pure genius on Canepa's part to try Jake first.

“But under the plea agreement they have struck with Jake, he has to follow the script,” Parker said, referring to prosecutors.

Special prosecutor Andrew Wilson countered by saying the state’s case against George Wagner IV does not hinge on his brother’s testimony.

“That’s because Jake’s proffer, Jake’s cooperation,

destroyed their defenses that they were coming up with,”

Wilson said. “It did not affect the state’s case. What Jake’s proffer did is affirm what the state already knew through its investigation.”

Family members can testify against George …

This video states when she served (1988-1989), rank/title (airman E2, inventory management specialist) and location (Florida).

ANGELA WAGNER MILITARY SERVICE

Angela Wagner to return to court for the Rhoden family murders

Local 12 has also learned Wagner served in the U.S. Air Force in her late teens.

"Wagner served in the U.S. Air Force from November 1988 to November 1989. She attained the rank of Airman E-2 and was an Inventory Management Specialist stationed at Homestead Air Force Base in Florida, according to records obtained by Local 12. Air Force officials would not comment on why Wagner only served a little more than a year and what type of discharge she received."

Right, we saw the same type of control with George's son and then it went to Jake's child. Alot of this is about Jake's family wanting what DeWine said, obsessive control of children.

The whole family is mentally deranged, a "perfect storm" of the 4 personalities together bringing out the worst psychopathic tendencies and anti-social personality traits of each other. Not one in that enmeshed mess to be a voice of reason.

"What made him jump at a deal first?"

Because his trial was 4 months away and I believe his attorneys leveled with him that the evidence was overwhelming and he would be convicted and then would get the DP. For 8 murders a person is most likely going to get the DP.

It was his attorney's job to keep him from getting the DP. Most people who are on murder charges facing the DP take a plea of guilty to get LWOP and avoid the DP.

Jake was/is petrified of the DP and he wanted to avoid it. He was cornered, it is all about there being too much evidence against him.

If his attorneys had told him they thought the State didn't have enough evidence to convict him he would have probably had his trial.

He lied for 2 1\2 years "find the monsters who did this" "I was fine with the way things were"

He was trapped in the corner with getting convicted of 8 murders and sitting for life on death row and he didn't want that. Plus, Ohio could always go back to doing executions in the future and he certainly wanted to avoid that.
I checked out of this for a while because I can't handle all of the waiting, but I heard today (Court TV) that AW was stalking HR's social media accounts and found a message to the effect of HR never giving custody to JW. I can imagine AW seeing that it being the catalyst for everything.
Then it was said the HR was shot twice in the face..of course with the baby right with her. Just awful.

I'll be glued to the tv or my phone watching as well.

Completely My Own Opinion

We all have watched and wait for G4's trial to begin. It has been 6.5 years after the brutal murders and almost 4 years after the W4's arrests. Logically, the W4 should have insisted upon an immediate trial but yet they arrogantly waited, thinking their local influence would help exonerate them.

IMO, there have been family members that helped abet them in this crime. There also have been other family members that were innocently pulled into this crime. They have all been subpoenaed and will have to face questioning (under oath).

IMO AW and JW in their pleas, had to throw some family under the bus. Rightfully so.

LE has gained even more evidence in the four years after their arrests.

Welcome back skyedaze.

A Wagner had hacked into Hanna Rhoden's Facebook private messages and hacked into George's EX MIL's Facebook private messages and Angela was monitoring them. According to lead BCI investigator Special Agent Ryan Scheiderer (at George's Bond Hearing) Angela's laptop was taken by BCI at the Canadian USA border, I think in Montana, and on her laptop were many screenshots of the Facebook messages from these hacked accounts.

In one of these messages George's EX MIL (George's Docket shows a subpoena has been issued to her) was warning Hanna to not end up like her daughter. Her daughter is George's EX wife and the Wagners had strong-armed her into signing documents giving up custody of her son. The Wagners had an attorney, she did not.

Hanna said, according to the screenshot of the message on Angela's computer, that she would "never sign papers, they would have to kill me first."

When Angela saw this message - she screenshot it - and ran to Jake and showed it to him. Canepa said Hanna signed her death warrant with that statement because they killed her only 4 months later. I think the implication is that this made it clear to Jake and Angela that they would never be able to control Hanna in any way and so it was a catalyst to start planning for her murder.

Just a couple months later they were buying murder kit items and making homemade suppressors and practicing shooting with the suppressors in the woods on their property. Before that, they sat in their kitchen and voted, the 4 of them, on whether to commit the murders or not. Angela implies Jake and George voted for the murders because she asks them specifically if they were sure they wanted to go through with it and they said yes.I don't know if she admitted if she voted for it or not but it is my opinion that all 4 voted for the murders and if she says she voted against it I believe she is lying. She was sure heavily involved in the whole thing.

She was buying murder kit items including the infamous shoes she said she bought for George and Jake to wear that night, specifically in sizes and styles they do not wear. Bloody shoe prints of these specific type of shoes were left at Dana's and Chris Sr's. Not only does the tread match the type of shoes Angela bought from the Waverly Ohio Walmart, but the tread showed no wear, as if just bought new. In fact Angela bought the shoes just a few weeks before the murders in early April.

It was said that George was trying to talk them out of the murders which makes no sense because he voted for it.

Prosecutors lay out possible new evidence in …

Prosecutors pointed to votes taken by the family as another example of its solidarity. Canepa said the family members took a vote on the murders themselves. She said mom Angela Wagner told investigators about it when she pleaded guilty to conspiracy, evidence tampering, burglary and other charges last year.

"She speaks vividly of recalling speaking to Jake and George and asking if they were sure they wanted to go through with this, to which they both said 'yes,'" Canepa said.

Reporter states in this video jury selection is expected to take about 2 days, opening statements could start soon after that or there's a possibility they could wait until the Tuesday after Labor Day.

I think they will wait as the subpoenas are dated for 09/06 @ 9am.
What subpoenas are dated for 9/6 ?

National Media setting up in Court Friday - from above linked video

NEW SEASON 3 - 2022

Mother May I?

May 24, 2022 • 37 min

In 2016, eight members of the Rhoden family were brutally murdered in their homes. The crimes divided the small community of Pike County and spawned a mystery that spanned five years. For two seasons, The Piketon Massacre covered the case, which included the arrests of another local family with intrinsic ties to the victims, the Wagners. The accused pleaded their innocence until last year- on the 5th anniversary of the murders- one of the defendants changed his plea to guilty. Now, as season three begins, another shocking courtroom twist and many divergent theories promise to change the course of Ohio’s largest criminal investigation and may finally help the Rhoden family see justice.

Again, you all have probably discussed the fact that George Jr. claims he was only present at the end of the killings to protect his brother, Jake, from their dad, Billy. IMO, Billy was going to kill Jake to make it look like this was a murder suicide committed by Jake. The Wagner's would be off the hook and Angela would have full custody of her granddaughter. A nice clean ending, wrapped up in a bow.

Thank you @Cool Cats for the Podcast links. They are very informative.
