ATF witness on stand showing how to make a suppressor out of Maglight.
Really interesting demonstration on how to make a silencer.

Now I know what to do with my obsolete Maglites.

ATW witness is demonstrating with the handle recovered from cistern how it was reworked to make the Wagners suppressor.

I wonder who the test pilot was on firing the SKS through that maglite? *BOOM* oops lol. Maybe those marks on JW's face? Or BW's?

The holes weren't perfectly aligned and the bullet blew it apart.

Did White say the casing he showed the jury was 7.62?

Just for reference, here's a link to one of the You Tube videos we looked at back then showing how to make suppressor from the Maglite

Lots of great photos of baffle on this part shown during testimony. ATF witness says the part was burned in a fire.

ATF witness says S2D016 was the maglight which tube was used to make the suppressor. Showed photos.
(I think I have one of those!)

Right, he's loving explaining in detail how to make a silencer. Now we all know how to make one
Mine would still blow up lol

Totally blows my mind but thanks to you, Joe, and, re-reading (over and over), I now see, said the blind person. It's not about Jake being a truthful murderer.

If Angela and Jake Wagner testify to the satisfaction of the prosecution, the death penalty will be taken off the table for all four
'Pike County Massacre' trial: star witness says he executed two nursing mothers
If in cross the defense trips up either one of them and it is obvious they are lying or not testifying to the satisfaction of the prosecution the DP will remain. I can see that happening and maybe that could be the plan.

Firearm silencers operate much like a car muffler using baffles inside a tubes. Slows down the gasses escaping from a gun "I think I beat that to death" Barlow says after his explanation.

Now onto actual examination of the item found @Local12
says previous agent says it was a silencer and he concurred

Also shows internal pictures showing that it had been used and there was a "baffle strike" meaning a bullet had been shot through it.

It was made out of a 2 D-cell Mag-lite flashlight. @local12
Device had also been melted at some point.

well - sorry kids - but I need my beauty sleep - so will continue the tweets in the morning - :)

ATF witness says the oil filter is not as efficient as maglight for making silencers.

  • #192
You can also use an oil filter to make a suppressor ATF witness says.
Yes and that's a much easier option according to this ATF witness

This ATF witness has been fascinating. Court is going on break. Prosecution still has a few more questions. I have a feeling defense's cross examination will be picky, picky.

They better be... no explanation for making silencers before a massacre takes place. None.

I think this witness will hold up well. He seems to really know his job and all the ins and outs of these things. They might score some points on things like "you can't say who built a specific silencer can you?"

I'm curious why they didn't just throw this item away. It was tested before the homicides so who would be digging in their trash before a crime has even occurred? Was it an oversight? They didn't think about it until they were discarding other evidence (I think Jake said they burned their clothing so was this in that burn pile?) Then they just tossed it on their property? For as much planning as was done, some things just really didn't seem to occur to them. Or maybe they thought better of it after they dumped it in the cistern and then realized they couldn't retrieve it?

the defense will be able to show JW and AW lied, we have AW lying to the agents at the border, some of JW proffer is not a match to the evidence the state has already admitted this, their lies have nothing to do with the DP being back in play, the state has extracted from JW and AW enough in the proffers that means they will testify to GW and BW being involved, JW is prepared to admit to who killed who, he is insisting GW did not kill anybody, IMO the state are accepting of this position,

so as long as JW repeats the proffer it does not matter what the defense elicits on cross,

IMO the only way JW can bring the DP back into play by something he does is if he gets on the stand and testifies on direct something which is not in the proffer, so he changes what he testified to when he was negotiating what would be included in his proffer statement , he would be stupid (but all 4 Wagners aren't going to be invited to join Mensa anytime soon) to do so, as I doubt, he wants to go to death row,

I expect AC to do the direct of JW and AW, and she will walk them through their proffer statement, probably also aligning what they say to the evidence already admitted at trial, if they do as expected no DP, irrespective of what the defense do on cross

there would be few criminals in jail but for their own stupidity, they oftentimes leave the evidence for LE to find, I liken most convicted defendants to shooting fish in a barrel, they don't make it that hard for LE to find the evidence to convict them
