If the reporters had been allowed real time typed reporting, as in from a tablet on wifi, I could agree with the trial being made "public". The courts must take into account, IMO, the magnitude of the public's want to digest the proceedings and testimony. It's their right since it's their responsibility to pay for it's rendering.
Stated in a way that's AJMO

But then the media made the grave mistake of publishing the photo of the baby (covered in blood) in the ER - after explicit instructions not to do so. After knowing full well you don't publish photos of minor victims. I don't know how many did but every single reporter who made that photo public knew better which led to everyone being punished.

Mod Note:
There have been some questions on double posts and deleting posts. At times when there is a site lag, it can trigger double posts when post reply is selected a second time while the page is processing. No worries - it happens to nearly all of us from time to time.
If this occurs, you can delete the text of the double post and replace it with a DBM (Deleted By Me), or simply report your post with reason as “double”, and a Moderator will remove it for you.

Hope That Helps,
Tiff

Thank you. Do you know why I can't access the pull down menu to save or delete a draft? Is it on my end? I've tried both Kindle and phone, doesn't work on either. It did 2 days ago but not there any more.

The order says "Effective immediately" media can't be denied video and audio until a hearing is held. So in my less than legally trained mind, that means testimony stops immediately or cameras/audio is allowed immediately until a hearing is held. Would that conference (private hearing?) held in the judge's chambers eliminate the need to stop testimony? And then a hearing in the morning?

IMO I believe the meeting in the judges chambers that was put on the record with all legal parties in the court room in attendance and the attorney for the media on the phone agreed to going on with the testimony this afternoon with a hearing scheduled for in the morning. I don’t believe Deering would do anything intentionally to derail this trial. Again IMO

Yep, he sure did. He was ticked off. IIRC, the defense agreed with opt outs???
The defense filed a motion in pre hearing to prohibit any cameras or media recording in the court room. They said it would hurt the defendants right to a fair trial. So the defense objected to the media maybe a year ago? Can't remember the number of the motion though.

Yes which is why I think the only foolproof way is writing tablets with no photo taking capabilities.

Either that or real time text available (even at the end of the testimony) from the stenographer's recordering of it. With today's technology It must be possible to get testimony to the public the same day?

And the reporters shouldn't be locked in or out, that's just wrong. IMO

For trying to erase it from his memory, he seems to be able to recall small details of when he shot each victim…

And of that clip from Boondock Saints. Jake really got some pleasure seeing that clip in court and reliving the moment he killed 8 innocent people. Jake is a freaking phsyco. Watching him is like watching Silence of the Lambs.

That I am not sure of.
There is a “Report a Problem” link at the bottom right of the page. I recommend using that to reach out to Dave on the technology side. It may take him a day or two to get back to you, but he would be able to answer that question.

Well, Jake could be the reason if George and Billy are found guilty. So far the evidence against them is coming from Jake, maybe some from Angela.

So to even put Jake in the same prison with George and/or Billy could have things ending badly for Jake. In the same cell? WW3.

What they did is so evil and so infamous that all 4 will have targets on them, and the guards will not do them any favors. Even inmates have their standards. You don't prey on children, rape women, shoot teenagers, and shoot nursing mothers in bed leaving their babies in blood and at risk of something bad happening to them all alone for hours and hours.

Who would even dare try to be friends with them in prison? That's how horrendous the Wagners are. Prisoners are people and any normal person will hate the Wagners for what they did. Just like we do.
could have things ending badly for Jake

Awww now that would really break my heart. Someone tune up the violins for us.

I agree. I don't know if Judge Deering can just pick up the phone & call up the CC of Appeals to clarify but I thought it might be something like that.

No judge wants a mistrial on their record. This close to retirement, I cannot imagine Deering intentionally going out that way. Besides, we don't even know if or how it might cause a mistrial.

moo moo

The murderers three probably high fived all the way home and made jokes about "Ding Dong MF'ers", may be part of the reason Jake nearly busted out laughing.

My Grandma always said "you can go to hell for lying, the same as you can for stealing".... IMO, he's earned a reservation.
I hope he gets one close to the fire so he stays really warm. LMAO

Wondering if Judge Deering has a constitutional right to close down trial to media?
Not in these here United States. Russia, for sure.

That is reassuring. I thought I remembered the defense filing that motion. I might have one foot in the grave and the other on a banana peel but my memory is holding up. lol.

And I doubt any higher court will declare a mistrial just because the media is upset that they are allowed in the courtroom but the trial is not broadcast.
Not to beat a dead horse but the the risk of mistrial is not about the media or the public's right (the latter of which does not exist) to access the trial or the 1st Amendment, it would only be about the defendent's right to a public trial under the Sixith Amendment -- and since the media is there and has been there, I see no way any of this leads to a mistrial

<modsnip - quoted post removed>

I will say what I've said a few times before, we don't know what statements he made on recordings we haven't heard yet. The point in the investigation we got to before Jake took the stand was not the point that any of them were arrested yet. They didn't play those recordings yet and I suspect it's because they want to wait till after at least Jake is done. All we have is what AC said in court during the one discussion about playing the recordings and she said what is to come is most damning. I suspect (my opinion) he references things that only someone there would know or only someone that covered it up would know. Maybe the truck.. they were asking for anyone to come forward about any known vehicles of the W's.. maybe he says something about where that truck went or about items burned or the silencer in the cistern.. we don't know until they are played.

George's character, actions, and connectedness to his family has been shown with what we have seen already. He was along for all of the other crimes, all of the joint accounts, buying the home with fraudulent insurance money, having the Alaska house in his name, moving to Alaska with them, moving back with them and living with them again, working with Jake, still sharing finances and living arrangements. His actions speak loudly and so to believe he wasn't involved we'd have to believe despite all of that, he just didn't know about any of it and didn't participate in any of it.

I don't think there has been one big there it is moment, which is maybe what many want to see to be positive. I think it's maybe more damning to have this slow build up and no one piece that is it. What if the one piece is wrong? There are still MANY others. I am ready to hear about those recordings though. I want to hear him say something about evidence he shouldn't know about if he wasn't there.

Also, those recorded calls we hear George going on about BCI. It isn't necessarily what he says, but it's what isn't said. I might be putting my own bias into this thinking, but if he really didn't know, he isn't speaking as if he's surprised at all or as if he is questioning if it's possible his family did commit the crimes. Where is his surprised or concern that his family is wrongly accused. It's more like he's giddy over the fact he got through border patrol unnoticed and he is so smart to realize BCI was following him.. not really concerned that they were, but that he was smart enough to figure it out and was boasting about it.
Will there be charges brought against the W4 for insurance fraud or thefts involving their past crimes that have been revealed ?
Does anyone know the details of fraud concerning the Missouri property attempted purchase?
