They didn't have FBI to whisk folks away from Piketon, who had tips. Y'all all writing books?
You don’t think the FBI wasn’t consulted or did some evidence analysis?

I think although we may not know the specific evidence, LE and everyone involved have a good idea the evidence is overwhelming. I believe Reader and DEWine took their time, assembled the best team nationwide, and did every single thing to the letter of the law. I think the supporting facts to the primary evidence will have even more supporting evidence.
934 days is a lot of man hours. And I think at some point someone came forward that provided lead after lead. And LE followed each until they had every lead answered.
I believe LE WAS DETERMINED BECAUSE THEY WERE NOT GOING TO TOLERATE THE MAGNITUDE of hillbilly justice. And I don’t like the term. It’s the “Not in my community anymore”.
And IMO. There will be more crimes solved. Maybe not directly, but I think others might come forward with information re: other murders and unsolved serious crimes.
They wouldn't have been able to work in Canada. It's quite hard for Americans to immigrate, unless you buy a business.Canada would have been a wiser choice because had they stopped, it is extremely rare for extradition to the US without prosecutors removing the death penalty. Canada refuses to extradite on about any charge with the death penalty attached.
New York has done it but I don’t recall other states who were successful. New York manipulated and brought new charges that had new death penalty consequences. Even in the very worst of crimes.

I think so too, if an offer is extended. And, a plea would certainly benefit the state.
Either way, if guilty, it’s a death sentence. LWOP might give them a few more years existence.
Ahhh, how nice it’d be too see the expressions of the 4 once they are advised of the evidence against them.
I’m curious if they are meeting with their respective legal team on a daily basis or if it’s too early in the game.

Note I said if I lived there, my feelings of even making the call may have been different.
Yes I am curious about the “dark thoughts”. I’ve not heard this before. Not asking about your bias. Asking if you know them. A lot of people are being asked if they know them, for some reason. You'd mentioned that AW has always had "dark thoughts but never acted on them", a few pages back. That sounded kinda like personal knowledge to me. J.s.
I live in small town, Appalachia , USA. I've been in convos with the secret service. They came here, they talked to us, in LE's office, discreetly, and they left. The Feds don't announce when they come to town. They don't whisk you away to some safe home either. Not for a tip.Ask an officer in any small town how the situation is handled. It’s not going to be on home turf.
Having allegedly killed 8, there’d be no reason to think they would hesitate to make it nine or......
No it’s easy. And yes you can work. You just have to work for a US company to begin with. They were mechanics. Any small community can use one. The most important factor is providing a talent, service and be able to improve a community. Investment in a community is also a factor so you are absolutely correct that to buy a garage in a small area say from a retiring Canadian would have been smart. Say anywhere on the ALCAN Highway or in British Columbia or the Yukon. You’d probably be as surprised how many immigrant owned businesses there are that have become so in the last 25 years.
I just think they were counting on the trouble NOT following them to Nikiski. It did and their use of the church and militia friends didn’t help. Those people like their privacy and do not like being under LE scrutiny.
If companies can't find skilled workers they can apply to hire foreign workers. But you have to interview and apply with a recruiter while you're living in the US, you have to be kind of saavy with bureaucracy, I don't get the impression the W's were up to that.No it’s easy. I do agree with this, and ftr, I'm a proud Redneck, Hillbilly, Appalachian American.
I wasn’t implying they whisk an informant away. But, I know for a fact they will set up a meeting place away from prying eyes. It could be in a parking lot, the next town over, maybe a police department in a dif county, a hotel room, an office suite or??? They simply will not risk another life by asking an informant to come to local headquarters. Especially in the course of such a heinous crime.I live in small town, Appalachia , USA. Yes, they could run but they couldn't hide. Especially since LE made that rather extraordinary announcement about them being under 'laser focus'.
Betty, you’re so up to speed on this case, if plea bargains are offered, do you think any will accept? TIAFrom past news media reports, FBI only assisted with evidence analysis. Otherwise, they were kept at arm's length from the investigation.
JMO, prosecutors will have to reveal evidence against the defendants. It's the law. I can't envision the W's defense attorneys allowing them to avoid "discovery". If any of the defendants accept a plea bargain, it's possible some of the evidence will be kept hidden, but there's really no justification for keeping everything secret. It's not as if the evidence in these murder cases is a threat to national security or anything. The only exception might be identities of witnesses who came forward.
That said, this case is being tried in Ohio, and we've always joked that many Ohio pols think the US Constitution doesn't apply here.![]()
Hey. In Kenai we lived in a very nice 2 story 4 bedroom cedar home. Until it burned.
Not all Alaskans live off the grid and remember every tv show except ALASKA STATE TROOPERS is embellished and a oil tanker full of drama added.
The Waggies lived in a trailer with a 1,500 sq foot add on. They got good paying work and had it easy. Gas heat, water and a pretty comfortable home.
I believe they found far to much scrutiny after they settled in and people didn’t welcome them as they normally would have. It takes people helping and yes teaching you what to do and what’s a waste of time.
We had that when we moved in 1980. They did not because LE was all over their every move.
