In his interview, LM only said there was a big event that happened there "the other night" and that LE treated the family badly. He never said what the conflict was or who was involved.

We'll probably find out, though, during the trials.

Global News

Based on the date of the vid, 4/24/2015, he's either referencing the Sat. after the murders, or the Sat right before the murders.

I think it is the Sat after the murders because he is very upset that although his daughter was able to take her car, and his grandson took his, they impounded JMs, then he immediately states after @ 1:03, "Sat evening we had a big conflict up here with the deputies and thangs."

IF there were bed bugs, chances are the Wagners had them too. Considering S went back and forth between their residence and all the crime scene locations on UHR, the chances of bed bugs not migrating with her belongings is slim to none.

I’m not with the majority when it comes to the bed bug talk. I firmly believe all of the homes were treated for bed bugs because of being put into storage, which is a breeding ground for all insects. IMO, the bed bug treatment listed by LE was a preventative since all of the deceased possessions were inside those homes and would be stored.

I think that someone had bedbugs. Bedbugs don't hitch rides on people or clothing. They don't enter vacant homes either. They wouldn't spend that kind of money to treat those trailers otherwise. They might put out mouse and rat traps as a prevention for pests but they sealed the trailers. Personally, I think the bugs came from someone hanging out at a nearby motel with a rep for bedbugs, and they arrived in something someone brought back home with them. Never had them, never want them. I check motel rooms prior to settling in for the night, when I travel, no matter the star rating or appearance. A five star motel can have them, just the same as a single star one.

Bed bugs come in as stowaways in luggage, furniture, clothing, pillows, boxes, and more when these are moved between dwellings.

And they can live months between meals.

Bed bugs live off only blood—like mosquitoes do. They probably prefer to feed on people. But if people move out, bed bugs can survive by feeding on rats or mice—so control these pests, too. They're attracted by warmth and the presence of carbon dioxide—what we animals breathe out.

IMO.....what evidence is there of the sheriff's dept setting up the Ws? BCI was the lead investigative agency with a couple of deputies assisting. Conspiracy theories run amuck creates rumors, especially from those lacking reading comp. skills.

Jmo I can see why people who don’t live in the area might think W are behind this, but I do not think W are behind this at all. Jmo

This looks more like scorned love in action to me.

Really. Did they go from one to another or have a preferred Wally?

Just to hear of any “evidence” would be welcome.

Didn't they get caught stealing from a Wally? If so, they'd be banned from that one, and maybe any nearby. My guess it was one in within a nearby radius of 25 miles or so. Seems criminals have a propensity to stay within that range.

In my area, if caught ‘lifting, it’s permanent ban, from all stores. They prob’ can’t catch someone that ‘lifted in Toledo in Miami’s WMT, tho. Unless they have some type “recognition” security in place.

I am a new member just learning how to comment. I do live in the area but only for the last 10 years and had never heard of either the Rhodens or the Wagners until this horrible massacre.

Rsd~I posed a question to two attys, one verified here, the other a RL friend, criminal defense atty, with a fair share of felony murder cases.

Of course I got a dif’ answer from both.

Am I allowed to discuss the question & their answers, more importantly, why they answered as they did?

Let's say the grandmothers honestly believed their children and grandchildren innocent of murder.

So they're pretty indignant at the sheriff and want to get back at him by causing him headaches, rather than physical harm.

Like "I'm gonna kick that crazy sheriff out of office, he'll be sorry he messed with us!"

I know. I know. Not likely. But I wouldn't want to believe my kid capable. These Grammies mightn't either.

Or maybe the recently realized it. What do you do if you know your offspring really messed up?

Turn them in? Maybe one did.

As I recall, the bed bugs were not disclosed until months later, and by then we had a pretty good idea of the Rhodens and all their shortcomings. I don't think the bedbugs made them look any worse then they already did.
Does anyone have knowledge of what home was treated? Could it have been say the camper on LFR? Were all of the homes treated? Or was it just one? Did LE say there was an infestation?or did a journalist write that in an article?

The Rhodens didn’t deserve to be made to look “worse than they already did”. They are all victims. Eight victims. Dead. And their lifestyle was no different than hundreds of thousands of other people in this country. JMO

See my links a few posts up. This company didn't store the trailers. Hadsell Chemical stored them until they were moved to the county impound lot. Perhaps they did some other contracting work, but we'll need a link to verify that.

Pike County sheriff's race among dirtiest in Ohio

ALH did receive a $20,200 contract for "securing property" and a $40,000 contract to "preserve evidence" - a combined $60,200. While the commissioners can forgo competitive bid for work up to $100,000 due to an emergency, they have to unanimously agree and note the reason in meeting minutes. While minutes reflect Charles Reader met with commissioners in executive session on May 12 - the day the trailers were towed - there is nothing about forgoing the bid process and no minutes at present show the commissioners approved any contracts from the Rhoden case. A public records request for the contracts was made to the Pike County Sheriff's Office on Oct. 12, but has not been fulfilled."

I'm from the area as well. I'd say the only people knowing of the Rhoden's or Wagner's were those in their inner circle or anyone having some sort of direct dealings with either family. I'd also be willing to bet, from the interactions I've had with people in Waverly, there wasn't much talk about the murders, until arrests were made. No one was certainly afraid for their lives. Life went on as normal for most law abiding citizens. I don't know about the criminal element in the area and the fear they may have had since the murders. JMO

I do not think it was strictly over custody, as le has already said, since I dont know any of the people i can only say, imo, drugs, they are everywhere around this area, i had no idea how bad it was when my husband and i retired here, it is worse than in the city we moved from

  • #316
If you're a local, why do you think the W family wouldn't commit these murders?

JMO, but it's possible some locals think wealthy people wouldn't stoop to such horrific crimes. Those who live on their land and pay rent or payments on land contracts may be unwilling to criticize them publicly. Employees of FW's various businesses may have a vested interest in denying their involvement.
Jmo but I don’t fit any of those categories. I do hope le have the right people, cause another scary thought is the true killers are still in the area and have even more confidence. Jmo

How do you think it was started?
After the complaint was received they spoke to people in different positions in the county, someone added to the complaint in some way. The decision for the subpoena wasn’t based solely on one anonymous complaint. People complain all the time about le, but you don’t see subpoenas issued. Jmo
