I have to agree. After I read some info yesterday I thought it doesn’t look good, but after I thought about it, it still doesn’t link the w to that horrible night. Jmo
MYLAND bbm I think as more information is presented (ie motions & evidence) all preconceived assumptions will be dispelled. I (because of arrests in my state) thought this was related to a "drug turf war," UNTIL the arrests of the W4's. What a shock! This case will not/can not be solely circumstantial, too much is at stake. Perhaps someone ( a cooperating witness/shooter?) will put the guns in the hands of each person involved. And, even then, the other defense attorneys will claim the "cooperating witness" cut a deal to just save their own skin. It is the prosecution's job to build the case, step-by-step for a jury (not me/us). So far, it looks as if they are doing a thorough job.

Judge is in chambers. JW is not in courtroom right now. Not sure why.

Discussing motion to appear w/o restraints. Deputies say they don't have the right kind of restraints to allow that. Wagner is waiving his appearance because they won't let him be televised w/o restraints.

Judge asking media to not photograph or video his restraints.
What the heck?

Now he's entered and seated.

Mine's ok on 12 News

Attys saying they received the second batch of discovery. State furnished Bill of Particulars today.

Defense filed 5 more motions.

Next date April 4.

State asking JW not have any contact with any other co-defendants "no contact" order. Defense is arguing he should be able to ask family members casual conversation. State says they're only asking they not communicate about the case. Court approves "no contact".

Defense atty says its ok for them to talk to other defense attorneys. Limits their ability to interact with other counsel Using that as excuse for opposing "no contact". State says that's not the issue. Issue is speaking to co-defendants. Defense atty says he may want to talk to other co-defendants w/o their lawyers.
Says it's their constitutional duty.

So I guess the strategy is for FW and others to communicate w/ the W4 through the lawyers?

Judge said they didn't have the stun belt to allow appearance without shackles. Side note: Meigs county had one escape in the past week, his 2nd escape.

Never, ever, have I seen media instructed how to direct the camera in court. Bending over backward to avoid technicalities in the future, eliminate bias claims?

Looks like J doesn't like showering in jail. Odd haircut too. He did change clothes at the courthouse.

No echo, but the entire feed is sketchy here. Using chl 12.

His hair reminds me of a Lego toy. Plastic. Hard.

His hair is greased out, jailhouse soap isnt the best for sure. I only saw the smirk, grin one time, definately not as much as the last pretrial.

Yes, the directions to the news media about photographing JW's restraints sounds very odd. That judge sure is accommodating to JW.

WRT shock restraints and their uneven record, you know whatever security leniency they grant to JW, they'll have to do the same for GW3 & GW4. JW is puny, but the other two are very large, esp GW3 and could easily escape and could be a very real public threat to anyone in that courtroom or out on the streets.

Somehow I think having JW ask for this exception first is part of a plan. Let's not forget they already discussed plans to escape if arrested.

Imo, the attorneys may want to strategize with the others as in jw will plead guilty to xyz, the plan is for you and others to xyz, and we as the attorneys will try to make a deal will prosecutor so that the dp be taken off table

I'm not so sure. The way the defense attorneys have been somewhat aggressive, requesting changes to protect their clients and their "rights", I think they have every intention of trying to either get a mistrial, hung jury or acquittal. They seem to be in this for the long haul, with all the motions, etc.

The Ws have probably gone through a pessimistic cycle, but I think they're now (wrongly) convinced they can beat this.

ETA: There's also a slight perception of defense attorneys trying to bog down the process. Perhaps they think if they can slow the trials down and make them more costly to the county, they will give up or opt for some lesser charge. Not sure how that works, but they're definitely blowing the county budget with little help in sight from the state . I'm assuming these special "shock" restraints are going to be expensive for the county to purchase. JMO.

In some jails, the shower is open to half the cellblock or more. May be getting a bird bath at the toilet sink in the cell.

Looked like the 'Bewitched' nose twitch once, but the video kept locking up.

Thanks, but so does everyone else here in the forum.

The more motions filed by the defense and the more they reveal about their objections, it seems very likely they're launching a very aggressive defense. The motions requesting juvenile court records of witnesses and names of the grand jury members means they plan to go very negative in this trial, using every intimidation tactic they can come up with.

Also prepare to see them impugn the reputations of the victims and families in order to create the illusion they were immoral criminals who had dozens of people willing to kill them.

Yet the W's know they killed those people, and feel justified in doing so. The old cell block tango defense - "they deserved it". JMO, it's that narcissistic, psychotic view of family, power, entitlement and their own warped view of their "religion" that continues to make them feel they're martyrs on some bizarre and bloody crusade.

Jake doesn’t look puny to me, except in comparison to his father. I’d say he’s 6’2” or so, and looks like he bulked up in prison as well (his skin is drastically better since going to/returning from Alaska too). Anyhow, I guess the judge would rather grant the exception than deal with “unfair trial” claims down the road. MOO.

Just seems as if the defense is not sure of how to proceed. The bombardment of motions to confuse the procedure in the progress of the pre-trials.

Today the defense team appears to be questioning how to measure their abilities versus the other teams. The result will only be more confusion. JMO
