It has been my opinion for quite some time that Sheriff Reader has suffered severely from PTSD since these murders. It has been obvious from the beginning that he was affected. This could make him turn to anything that would shut those horrid scenes out of his mind. JMO

I tend to agree. He also seems to be the main LE contact for the surviving family members, also a difficult job. Pike County has had a lot of problems in the last few years, in addition to the Rhoden/Gilley murders, too.

Betty if you can remember the article, I think DeWine arrived on the scene before Reader did. He jumped the first helicopter out and was running the show almost before the first newscast went out.
Him and Frannie.

Poor Frannie had to tell him what those little houses out in front of Frankies were for.

Little houses??

What he went through would be difficult on anybody, but I think more so for LE of smaller towns. They are usually without as much support or resources for officers.

Wagner family matriarch claims innocence as case is dismissed

What I found very interesting was in Fred's interview after the charges were dismissed, she said 'I am innocent." She stressed the "I" slightly making me think she wasn't too sure about the W4's innocence anymore.

JMO

But you don't think there's any chance she would willingly testify for the prosecution do you?

I'm wondering if what she's struggling with is how much the 4 and her support for them is costing her?? That's the only thing that I think might persuade her to talk is financial incentive.

I think Ohio taxpayers are footing the bill for the W4 legal bills. Didn't Billy Wagner, Angela Wagner, George Wagner and Jake Wagner all claim to be indigent? They have court-appointed death penalty qualified lawyers and they will have court-appointed experts all paid for by Ohio taxpayers.

FW is paying zero.

All 4 will need $ put into their commissary accounts every month. Adds up fast with 4 people. A good portion of that money will go to phone calls, which are expensive in jail.

I can't think of anyone who would or could pay this except Fred and Robin. Rita is broke so she can't help her daughter. In prison you can do things for inmates, in exchange, they pay you with commissary goods which are used as currency. Get really lucky and you might get a (extremely low paying) prison job, but jail is different.

One of the Wagner parents was getting $500+ a month in SS, wonder what happens to that?

I'm sure her horse and dog selling businesses will suffer badly if she is connected closely to the W4 and this murder case. I'd bet it has already. She sold off her breeding stock of pigs. I would guess she will do what she has to do to survive financially. Just my opinions....

You cannot collect if you are incarcerated.

Did anyone else see the big FB fight Junk and Reader got into? IMO it showed a total lack of professionalism and maturity from both of them. Hard to believe this stuff goes on but it is Ohio.

Just my thoughts....But Owen has made a serious blunder. He was already given the discovery and
has failed to understand what he received.

Prosecutors are not obligated to reveal to the defense their strategy and how the evidence relates
to their client.

FW trusted Billy and allowed him to use her accounts. Billy only, not AW.
FW was busy and didn't bother with the mundane purchases he made.
Probably looked the invoices over as she recorded them as expenses, and
didn't record who made the purchase.

Big mistake on FW part, as she didn't realize the purchases would be on her hard drive.
Probably didn't realize or care what she told the Grand Jury about where the BPV were
puechased and by whom. How was that important? She has had months to rethink
about her blunder.

AC is doing an excellent strategy and just have faith.

question here..if I understand this..FW first said she bought vests on Amazon and then Ebay or other way around?? or is it that she used PayPal and didn't divulge that?? or that she is trying to say she bought the vests after murder...jmo if she used PayPal to purchase or BW did the entire purchase, she may have not known where he purchased or how he paid for it... not defending either FW or BW, just trying to understand her lying to GJ ~~ thanks

You see what he’s charged with in the indictments don’t you? Theft, stealing money etc.. Why would Reader do any of those??!!

because he has a gambling problem?? and if so was this known to the community or just to those close to him....imo, I'm neither for or against him and he apparently tries to do his job as sheriff but has his own agenda at the same.. big fish little pond.. right along with some others .. like crabs in a barrel climbing to the top.

If the recipient is in Jail or Prison for more than 30 days their benefits will be suspended.

My opinion only...
She said she had receipts printed out to turn over but never did that. She didn't know where she bought the BPVs when asked at the GJ and gave them the wrong seller. If she had the receipts printed out previously, why did she not turn them over, and/or not know where she bought them. I believe there is more that will come out eventually about those purchases.

I am not sure if I can explain this correctly. Let me make it clear up front that I do not want to offend anyone.

If it were me I would not support my son, DIL or grandsons if I believed or suspected they might have been involved in killing 8 people. My people do not believe in destroying life. It would be the hardest thing I ever did but I would turn over to LE whatever knowledge I had. They wouldn't have to ask. I would volunteer it. For me, it is not a question of loyalty, it is a question of conscience, of belief.

At this time the only thing Fred has been proven guilty of is wearing a snood to court.

So if Fred is as devout a Christian as she has maintained she is, and she has given us plenty of proof for her to say that she trying to walk the same walk Jesus did, then she has to be struggling with the knowledge in the discovery that her attorney obtained. The knowledge that there is evidence that her son and family was involved in killing 8 people in their sleep. I think that knowledge showed in her interview and that "I am innocent." No added comment of "My son and his family is innocent." as before she and her attorney got the discovery from the prosecution. But we will see what she does in any coming interviews she might give.

Then there is the added factor of her other son and daughter and her other son's family. Will they want her to lie and risk everything she owns to defend Billy? We don't know the dynamics of the W family. We only know the facts.

The fact is her older son broke away and started his own business. His reputation and his business that he supports his family with depends on his good name. Her older son has several children so will he stand behind his brother and family to the detriment of his own? There is also the fact that he has only shown up in court once and that was at Fred's hearing. He has never shown up for Billy or any of his family.

The fact is her daughter works exclusively for the business that Fred established and probably has her entire life. I doubt that Robin has the education or skills to find another job if Fred lies and bets the farm on Billy's innocence. If FWF goes down in a civil suit against Fred then that leaves Robin with no job, no husband, no children to support herself. Will Robin allow her mother to risk everything to defend Billy? But the fact is Robin has shown up at every single hearing.

Fred has stoutly maintained in interviews that she has not, and will not lie. So if I was AC I would subpoena her as a witness for the prosecution.

But my personal belief is there is nothing that goes on in that family that Fred does not know about. But we will see if Fred gives another interview.

I don't think you can get SSI in jail. It is a welfare based program and it is based on need. You can't prove you need it if the state is housing and feeding you and providing you with clothing and health care.

Expert on Fredericka Wagner: 'Sounds like she is not out of jeopardy'

What’s next?

Allen said prosecutors have these options:

  • Go to the grand jury later to seek new charges against Wagner.
  • Negotiate a plea-bargained felony charge to bring against her. That would allow prosecutors to bypass the grand jury. Wagner has the right for her case to go to a grand jury, so her defense attorney would have to waive it. In that case, prosecutors would have a choice on whether to recommend a specific penalty to the sentencing judge.

That said, “The only other possibility – and this is all speculation – is she could be working with the prosecution on this case, although I highly doubt it because it seems like she has such a tight-knit family," Allen said.
