Dang, I forgot which time zone this was in so I missed a bunch of it.

So they think that one or more people could be out there still wanting to kill members of this family but...schools aren't on lock down? I don't get that.

I am not understanding that part either.

The attorney guy said all of this happened during the hours of sleep.

Indication is that none of the individuals committed suicide.

  • #66
Do not believe any of the 8 individuals committed suicide and believe there is at least one person loose who is armed and dangerous.

This sounds pretty orchestrated to me.

One mom was killed in bed with 4 day old right there.

Some victims in bed. Some not. All appear to have been shot in the head.

From link:

A Pike County victim's advocate said a five-day-old child and six-month-old child were found alive in one of the homes. Leonard Manley, who told the Cincinnati Enquirer he is the father and grandfather of some of the victims, said that two young children had been taken to Adams County Regional Medical Center, but the hospital would not confirm that.

So does that mean the children were also shot but survived? What a horrible, horrible case.

Even though a gun was used in these heinous killings, and not a bludgeoning weapon... it reminds me somewhat of the Gee family (5) mass murders in Illinois, and the Heinz mass murders (8) in Georgia. In each of those cases only the very young victims survived. One was a three year old little girl and the other one was a three year old little boy. Both though were left with disabilities but the last I read they had made great progress with therapy and surgeries.

I pray whoever did this did not harm the little ones but if they killed one teenager and adults they most likely tried to murder everyone including these two babies.

My thoughts and prayers are with the surviving families. 7 people just gone in a blink of an eye.:(

It wouldn't surprise me if the motive turns out to be as nonsensical as the murders themselves. It has to be someone within their own family I would think. What an utter betrayal. I cant comprehend the pain the families will go through. Losing one child even if they were not murdered has to be the most painful thing ever to endure but to have this many of ones family murdered, I just don't know how the families will be able to cope with the overwhelming loss. I hope they have a good support group and if they are religious maybe their faith will give them strength for what lies ahead for all of them.

IMO

I am wondering if maybe the shooter could have been killed by one of the intended targets before the intended target died.

I have family members that live in Peebles. My husband is actually supposed to take my kids down for a visit this weekend. I am not 100% sure if I am comfortable with it at the moment.

OMG! It sounds like this was done during the night while they were all sleeping and the killer came in and killed them all, execution style.

If none of the victims had a gun near them, that's a big clue there's someone on the run.

Well I certainly hope so. It would save the family from having to suffer through a trial.

I know I'm not 100% comfortable with it :(

That is what I am trying to get a grasp on. They are giving pretty strong warnings that someone could be out there armed and they even said the Rhoden family needs to be particularly careful (my interpretation not their exact words.)
So Sorry for the lack of understanding on my part, can you briefly explain why the Rhoden family would need to be extra careful? TIA

I believe because the deceased are members of the Rhoden family as well.

Aw, got it. So basically they are saying any REMAINING family of the Rhoden family needs to be extra careful.
Gosh I would think those other family members would be being protected and questioned about who could have done this. JMO
