Seems like LE would have run VIN numbers before ever sticking a hook in the first car, but who knows.

If they didn't run VINs first, why not take more of the ones that were left behind?

ETA - Unless of course there's a reason beyond DMV records to tow them, looking for trace evidence, etc.

Based on the article about the guy up in Logan County who was finally taken down for running a chop shop, automobile makers have taken to being tricky about all the places that they put VIN numbers. Or, possibly they checked one or two and found enough reason to take the whole load in.

Word was out rather quickly this happened. One family member posted to social media at 1138 am friday and others responded rather quickly . Small towns word spreads fast! So as far as DS just finding out and called police at 130 to check on KR seems rather odd to me. Had it been me, I would of called police and asked them to go check on KR and BR instead of going myself. So I agree with you

Yeah, maybe.

But if you knew he was doing illegal stuff, you might not want LE to be the ones to go check-up. In case everything was actually OK.

True, automakers have hidden VIN numbers for decades.

I. most certainly think there is something to this rogue cop that needs further investigating. He seemed to fall off the face of the earth, I wonder if any locals know if he still is in town?

Not writing off any involvement. But if he was directly involved in order to get cash and run, it would seem like he would be actually missing--and someone would have noticed, especially if he was set for a court hearing on Friday?

Here is Reader's press release. http://wp2.pikecosheriff.com/?p=1483

Here is a local article. http://www.newswatchman.com/news/article_2b29ce0c-27a4-5f3b-9c28-ff921fe53003.html

And this was in Feb. So they identify the intended recipient and another party. They obtain a search warrant for a 'local residence' (any media ever take a look at that affidavit and return or will it be sealed too?) They say they find the BHO site, and cite evidence of recent extractions. But I can find no indication of any arrests for either crime. Did someone roll?

Thanks for finding the articles. This has all the hints that LE setup informants from that bust at the post office.

IMO this could be tied to someone living at one of the homes and LE may have flipped him/her into becoming an informant and the big fish may have found out and eliminated anyone who could testify against them. Shipment was from California and some of us think the shooters came from out of town.

Look at the descriptions used here in the article. All hinting that LE let the person go for the time being to help get the big fish involved.

"As the investigation continued...numerous shatter labs being conducted at this location, as well as an indoor marijuana grow which supplied the marijuana for the shatter labs".

"....a ladder was also positioned at the side of the house to give accessability to top of tubes...."
" THC lab""
"Industrial valves and very large pipe"

"the case is in its very early stages"

"looking into post office records of particular people in this
county who were receiving packages.....flight records...."

"right now I do not want to disclose the address of any
particular persons until weve identified everyone who is involved"

"....I expect this to lead to other search warrants both locally
and in other jurisdictions....ensure the integrity of the
investigation remains intact so that when we get to the
charging and grand jury stage and when trial comes, we will be
prepared. "

I don't know that JJ is involved, but what worries me is if he did take off would we know? I don't see LE saying, "By the way, ..."

I think that is what everyone is questioning, where is he? There is not one single article or news report on the hearing that was scheduled on 4/22 it's really odd

I'm sorry I must have missed this
the ultimatum deadline
for what?

That is true, however, to me it doesn't explain why it took so long for someone to go check on KR. Regardless of how they felt about LE, it took 5 hours for someone to go check on him. That's a little weird to me.

Or....maybe just 5 hours to call 911....

I just read this on another site and wonder if it is confirmed or hearsay. I don't remember hearing or seeing this. "There was blood everywhere despite Ken laying in bed with 1 gunshot wound to the head."

There was a substantial seizure a few weeks later near Columbus involving a man from California. But no evidence it was anything but a random stop.

What about cartels riding up on ATVS and using silencers?

*ducks

If you're going to arrive on an ATV, you'd probably not be worried about a silencer.

I think it's very odd that the 911 call for Kenneth didn't come on until after 1PM. Especially considering my husband was working in Piketon that day and called to tell me about it at 11AM. Despite the fact that KR was several miles away, I would think someone would have checked on him sooner considering he was CR's brother and immediate family. There's something strange about that whole deal.

Agree. ATVs are not quiet.

I think they were on foot..with a car(s) parked elsewhere.

My goodness. There is a lot of money involved with the THC oil product. Notice how young the people arrested were. That product must be the new thing these days.

"According to the patrol, they found 70 pounds of marijuana and 1,000 jars of hash oil inside. The street value is about $350,000"

I don't know - I can imagine there was a lot of grief, panic and confusion, and all the more so for the closest family members . And with such a large family, maybe everyone was calling everyone else, and losing track of who was where, or thinking someone else would have checked in with Kenneth.

I am new here so look over me with this question? With able bodied folks on the property.. WHY would anyone have to come and tend to ones animals at such an hour? Especially with gas not being cheap. I can't get past this for some reason.
Lots of people hire maids, farm hands, etc. to help out with work. I was once told by someone that to be successful you had to concentrate on what you did best, and hire others to do the "menial jobs".

Many people are desperate for the oil where it's illegal to help their loved ones who suffer from chronic pain, cancer, seizures etc....

Exactly, does anyone know that he's not? I figure this guy is a loose cannon and is willing to bring the whole local shebang down if he goes down - and they know that. I don't think LE is going to come out and apprehend someone who knows way to much about the corruption that's been securing their retirement nest eggs. Even if it is just my space cadet theory, there are many, many others who have said that Pike County is rotten with corruption. I've asked several times whether any locals can say that they've seen him in town after the 21st. Haven't had a response. If I was in Waverly, I'd know the answer. I've looked at his address on Google and it's creepy, not one bit of personal expression. So, if it turns out he's not the perp - I'll be happy to eat crow. But right now, he my suspect #1.
