To me this is crazy overkill, I don't think it's very logical to shoot someone multiple times in the head. What is the reasoning? One who is asleep would die instantly with most likely 1 shot to the head definitely no more than 2. So why all the extra? In addition if all these people were shot that many times it had to have been a small caliber in order for some if not all of their funerals to be open casket.

We've never confirmed they were open casket at the actual public viewing. Family often has a private viewing beforehand to say goodbye privately.

I think in most cases they always say 6 weeks, but I've always assumed it was quicker. I'd guess that they have most "everything" back from the labs by now.

That's usually with 1-2 deaths. I could see things taking a bit longer in this case..

Please don't take this the wrong way Ray Pate, but anyone could come on here with this user name claiming to be a former homicide detective. A google search will prove that a Ray Pate was a homicide detective but it doesn't prove that you are in fact him. You were asked to be verified so that we can put more weight into your knowledge, experience and suggestions but you declined. Yet you are now asking us to dismiss one of the theories presented and teasing us with a pretty strong implication of an official's guilt. I hope you will reconsider being verified so we can decide for ourselves whether to take your suggestions more seriously than someone with no experience being a homicide detective. I've kinda always felt CR1 was the target. I've never been convinced CRjr was. The fact that everyone else was shot in the head does goes back to execution style. At one point there was speculation that maybe it was not execution style and maybe everyone wasn't shot in the head.. This confirms they all were.. And some multiple times which seems crazy that only KR had the single wound. Why did CRjr, FR, HG, and HR, need to be shot more than once in the head.. Some in bed with their babies.. Not any better DR was, but more so speaking on them as being teenagers and young adults. It's all terrible. No matter what. I guess it's a sliver more of information than what we had.. Interesting the TOD's are being based on time being found - looks like they were all found close together, I know we questioned how soon DR's house was entered, obviously very soon.

Hard to say for sure, mrssmith23. Could GR have been sleeping on the couch? Do we know? If so, he might have been the target. Or he might have simply been the first person the killer(s) encountered in the trailer. The killer(s) would have crept up on him first and shot him as he slept. CR Sr., hearing the shots, then could have leapt out of bed and bolted toward the front room. The killers then turned and immobilized him with nine shots. This could explain why he was riddled with more shots: he was the only one who had the opportunity to get out of bed and lunge toward (or attempt to flee from) the killers. To be honest, I'm leaning toward GR bringing the others into contact with some unsavory people. But I stand to be corrected, once we learn more information.

There is an enormous amount of money to be won, or lost, on fights. I am being 100% serious. A big ring was shut down by an anon tip not long before the murders. People you'd never think had a dime, to look at them, pull out wads of cash at these things. If the R's had a hand in shutting one down, so they could increase, or start their own, well, some folks would mighty be p.o.'d.

There is, as I mentioned a few threads ago, a very vague connection between JJ and the Rhodens, through his police partner in crime when R. Rooker was shot, TD. That, of course, requires JJ and TD to be more than work acquaintances who happened to kill a guy together. I wouldn't read too much into that, though. But I think JJ could fit the profile for a couple of scenarios, alone, or with one accomplice. Steroides makes it even more plausible, and looking at the pictures of the guy before and now confirms that imo. So I would keep him on my (long) list until someone convinces me otherwise.

I have a question. Would it be appropriate for a police officer to be facebook friends with a criminal? I noticed DR is friends with a major at the PC sheriffs office. But I guess you befriend as many as you can being a cop.

Edit: I was going towards DR not being a criminal since she had a cop friend.

I haven't really jumped on the JJ theory but there is something that's been nagging at me. When I was doing some digging around in regards to the missing women I came across two different articles where a man dressed as a police officer tried to abduct a woman in Chillicothe and another one in Circleville. Circleville is north of Piketon on 23. Chillicothe is between Piketon and Circleville. If anyone wants to do some digging, maybe we could see if it could fit into any of the theories. I don't have time to try to find them now but I think I posted some snips and links on one of the missing women's threads.

I have never been on the JJ bandwagon. If he needed money and didn't mind killing a whole family, why not take some bank president's family hostage, and make him go open the bank vault then kill them all after he got the money? There are a lot more people out there with a lot more access to money than the Rhodens seemed to have. Even the owner of the BB lodge would have been a more promising target than this family. Besides it takes a lot more money than the Rhodens have to live life on the run. You can't work in Mexico without a voters card and those are only given to citizens. So he would have needed enough money to last the rest of his life. Contrary to popular belief the Mexican govt does do background checks for Americans asking for citizenship in their country and they do deport thousands of Americans who have entered their country illegally every year. If he had tried to join a drug cartel down there he would have been killed the moment he approached them. They are very wary of strangers and especially white strangers. Besides if he was going to make a run for the border why not knock over an Indian casino on your way down to Mexico since there are hundreds of them between Ohio and the Mexican border. As for Canada you have to have a SSN to work there and it is harder to get a green card there than in the USA. We went through heck just getting a two week visa. Besides there is zero evidence JJ is going to run or that he even knew the Rhodens. JMO

We have no idea if either of them were sleeping. I'm not saying CRsr IS the target, I'm just stating I've felt like he was more the target than CRjr in my own personal opinion.

It had sounded like DR was potentially not in bed by the way JM described the scene, so why wouldn't she have been shot that many times? Just some thoughts that make me feel this way.

Nothing has given remotely been indicated GR could be the target as far as MSM. What could indicate CRsr if the fact this all occurred on his properties, his own family and children, and now the report he was shot this many times. JMO.
