I can't imagine a sheriff being that dirty underhanded and judgemental. Not to say it hadn't happened before, but I really don't think Charlie would have the heart or lack of conscious to pull that kind of BS and not look totally transparent. I would much rather believe that those things were said to keep things confidential. And a family member may take one or both of the babies and get financial aid to relocate just to be on the safe side. If it is gang or cartel related, relocation may be the best thing. If the killers thought the children were in any way a threat, they would have been killed. I can't imagine a scenario where the killers would risk apprehension to kill them now.
If the killers thought any other Rhoden family members were a threat, they would have killed them that night. Perhaps the sheriff's testimony is motivated more by a desire to see the surviving children grow up in homes and environments they think are better than relatives can provide.
And I sure wish they would let the FBI and DEA take over this case. If someone from LE or local government was involved, DeWine, BCI and local LE will not resolve it. It usually takes outside help in these situations.

I'm trying to make sense of this. HR's oldest daughter is living with her father right now. She isn't in hiding. Her father isn't in hiding. Why not? 2 of those 3 children cannot possibly identify the killers. If it's an inhertance thing, then why is that particular little girl seemingly not in mortal danger?
Oh Lord, I couldn't get to the last article posted because I have run out of free articles!! This case gets more bizarre by the day !
P.S. explosives in all four houses??

I agree. I think Reader wants to take no chances and risk someone else's life (even if, at this point, the possibility is remote).
I can't believe this would be terrorism. That word to me ties to Colombia, Afghanistan, places in Africa, and for some reason, Ireland. I remember when I was in elementary school, we were hearing quite a bit about alot of unrest in Ireland. That could be ancient history by now. I always soaked up American history and Texas history, but world history bored me to death.
But terrorism in America, especially in a smaller state like Ohio, just seems unreal. But there are many things that happen in America that leave me thinking WHAT?!!!

I don't quite see it the way that you do. I think that the sense of diminished danger comes from the belief that the Rhoden family was specifically targeted, and according to Mike Dewine (which echoes what I have believed for some time), bearing a direct relationship to illegal drug activity. So--folks who are not associated would have little to fear. Very different from a random serial killer whose presence in a community would pose a danger to a much wider group of folks based on availability or whatever the killer was attracted to.
This does not say to me that nobody is working the crime any more. I would imagine that about all has been gleaned from the crime scenes that is available, as well as interviews with persons of interest and others close to the victims. I am thinking that information that is likely to spark arrests is going to come in the form of information provided by people who know something but aren't likely to talk until they need to use that information as a bargaining chip when they are faced with doing time for something else. So, investigation at this point, I would think, would get very general, tracking the flow of substances in and out of the county and intercepting such deliveries until they hit on someone willing to sing. And very likely a long chain of somebodies. May well take years.
