Well, that puts a different slant on things. I found it really puzzling and almost incriminating, that JM would text JW at 2am.

I feel so conflicted seeing poor Leonard over and over, answering questions for long stretches of time the best he can for more than a year. On one hand, maybe this is going to help bring about some sort of justice by pressuring those involved. On the other, first of all, this may be taking a terrible emotional and mental toll on him in addition to the already unimaginable toll of having lost his family and having other family members so closely investigated. Secondly, does anyone else feel like it's getting uncomfortably exploitative of the reporters to continue to question him? I mean, they seem to be respectful to him and are doing their jobs, so it's not that I blame them, really. But is it good for Leonard to do this? I really worry about him. Maybe he wants to talk, maybe it helps him feel like he's speaking up and standing up for his family. I don't know. It doesn't feel right.

Yeah, I feel badly for him, too. I think the reporters are trying to be respectful, but it's a hot story and, as usual, Len is the only one talking. Their family is probably a little traditional, patriarchal, so the expect him to be the one to speak for all of them.

As for the rest of the relatives of the victims, I do wonder why they don't talk more. Tony, Rhoden's brother, seldom says anything. Could be he's shy. But you also don't hear many friends of the victims speaking up. Could be they're still afraid. Could be LE has told them not to talk for fear of harming the investigation.

ETA: I'd also say it's likely Len's family have also been the only ones in the community who've been under extreme pressure from LE. That makes him want to speak out more.

LM is saying the text was sent at 8 PM or 9 Pm that night but JW did not get it until 2 AM. He also indicates JW would not bring SR to their house to receive a present. Also that police went into the house to find his grandson three times that day and couldn't find him because he was between the bed and the wall.

So sad for LM.

This being confirmed, by LE, has made me very sad. It makes me feel he, awoke, and had tried to hide. He'd just had his 16th birthday. Someone close to these folks hated them, but what could a 16 year old kid have done to them? If this truly was, in part, about custody, why not just expose the in-law's income stream, take the child, and leave town (seems there's enough funds to do the latter, now).

Yeah, I've thought the same thing. It seems like it must be about more than just custody of HR's daughter. There has to be something bigger involved, more at stake for someone.

Poor kid. I know everyone has given him a hard time because he got in some fights and was acting out, but that's typical of a lot of young men his age. Nothing he wouldn't have grown out of given time. In general, CRSr. & DR's kids didn't seem to be real hell raisers in an area where there are probably a lot of them. Doesn't seem like they were involved in drugs, etc.

ETA: Looks like JM's wife has posted bail for him

Oh, Len, why couldn't you have just "remembered" the name of the friend JM bought the truck from?? You would have made me so happy!

Sounded something like "Ferris"

Then that was what the smile was about, imo.

For first time offenders, 3rd, 4th, & 5th degree felonies don't normally carry a presumption of jail time (if convicted, it is “presumed” that you will be incarcerated). JM is charged with a 3rd and 5th degree felony. Most folks wouldn't be incarcerated for those, as first time offenders, or would be given a small bond, fined and be done with it. So it doesn't look to good on JM at the present time, b/c I'm not seeing him as a flight risk.

In the video link above for the Daily Record, there's a small part recorded in the courtroom. The judge tells JM and his atty that once LE has their probable cause hearing, his case will move to a Grand Jury. Surely that's not routine for these kinds of offenses. But it will mean that the doors will slam shut for another year on any information about this case.

JMO, there must be some big Boss Hog or other ongoing undercover investigation related to these killings.

ETA: I'm still skeptical about how quickly LE zeroed in on JM and BJM with little or no evidence. I just get the feeling they might be getting "railroaded". I might be wrong. :fence:

Same. I do feel they're taking advantage of his desire to talk though. Yes, it's their job to get soundbites, but they know that he'll talk to them, and they have to know that talking to them may not be what is best for him, or his family members, at this point. He sees it as taking up for his family but some of what he says might possibly be used against his family.

Bet that's what she whispered into his ear when he chirped, "Gotta go!" Wonder who helped out, b/c he said they couldn't raise $8k.

I wonder if JM's attorney will talk to him. Really, Len was pretty quiet for a long time. He didn't start speaking out again until recently, when LE betrayed his trust. During most of fall, winter & spring, he was pretty quiet. He's still holding back on some stuff, but he's really mad at LE. He trusted them and they used and betrayed him. Can't say I blame him for being angry.

First of all I would like to list somethings.
Drug Task Force announced in Pike Co.
Cold Case Murders Task Force announced in Pike Co.
Did one of the Cold Cases bring them around to some of the "New" investigations on some people lately? The W's? One of the old murder cases was a very good horse trainer HH. His body was found around an M's property.

You can bet they will be trailing his every move while out. He doesn't seem like a flight risk. I hope they also expend the effort to protect him and his family, as well as the other relatives of the Rhoden/Gilleys. If JM ends up going before a grand jury, it's likely the killers and cohorts will be very nervous about what he and others will say.

Wonder who else they will call before the GJ?

Do you have a link to information about his murder? It would be interesting to review if there might be a link to the killers of the Rhodens.

LE knows what time the text was sent and received. My money is on them knowing the content of it also.

IMO this is all being done to rattle the cage of JW and company to see what shakes loose. JM being arrested it just smoke and mirrors.

At any rate LE has now let us know who they suspect. Text message to JW, search at JW's property and property of relative and friends. I would say they have an eagle eye on JW.

You mentioning fights made me think of something. Remember the guys who were out joyriding and said that the Rhodens were out patrolling the road with baseball bats and firearms? That was just about a week and a half before the murders. We then learn that JW asked HMR to sign over her rights to their child, about two weeks before the murders. Reckon keeping check on the road was a show of force (Rhoden strong) to send a message JW? We only heard about that one day. Just speculating.
