That was me also. And I'm not kidding- I truly think that's what LE meant when they said "something that could happen 100 years ago)

One more instance of someone casually dropping a post that they read on this or that living family member's facebook page this that or the other - immediate time out.

One more post dragging topix or any other local gossip site baloney to this discussion - immediate vacation.

Knock it off or risk your posting privileges.

There have been enough warnings.

Also, please note if you have a twelve paragraph post that you put much thought into and one line of it is outside tos, the whole post is gone. No snipping, just post and all your work - gone.
Can you explain something to us to be clear?

I know the gossip site and the issues with that and things said on Facebook. If there is something we do see there that looks like something relevant etc, how can we bring that into the discussion? What do we have to do? Is there a way to ask about it especially if others have more experience in searching some of this out?

I'm interested in the fact that "et all" is added to CR's name for the properties. Is it in a trust of some sort? Who is/are the "et all?"
I wondered about that also and meant to post about that..

Thanks. I just checked T & D Auto Sales with both the Ohio Secretary of State Business Entity Search and with the Ohio Department of Motor Vehicle Dealer's License search online and there were two T & D Auto Sales, both are inactive and the names associated with the two inactive businesses do not include the Rhodens.

If there was no dealer's license, then the business likely had no surety bond, insurance, proof of financial responsibility, etc. and this was a curbstone and illegal operation. That is, if the sale of vehicles exceeded five vehicles in a year and from FB, it looks like it did.

Curbstone operations are a real problem where I live and I know of one that was being run of a state penitentiary by a guy who was in prison for life with no parole. A curbstoner is far different than a person who is selling their own personal vehicle because the curbstoner is buying and selling junk cars, sometimes fixing them up a bit before selling them and they are doing it in some sort of volume on a regular basis. They sometimes offer the buyer a warranty and they sometimes have no financial ability to honor the warranty. If the car turns out to be a problem, the buyer is put into a bad position if the seller won't or can't fix the problem. There are very good reasons vehicle dealers are regulated by the state and that is to protect the consumer.

I hope LE is also talking the the buyers of the vehicles sold to see if there were any serious conflicts over the sale of a vehicle.

Be sure to read the reviews of the business on FB

BBC and Canadian TV reported on the killings during their Friday broadcasts.

In the interview with DeWine said that cockfighting chickens were found on the Rhoden property and explained his wife, Fran DeWine, could identify the types of coops used for fighting chickens from the aerial views of the scene shown on television.

Wednesday, April 27, 12 p.m.: For the first time since the crime tape went up, Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine is touring the scenes of Friday's mass shooting that left seven family members and a fiancée dead.........DeWine arrived Wednesday morning to take in the crime scenes and observe WTH has he been doing ????? Writing up BS? ...........command center for the Pike County homicide investigation has been relocated to 9329 St. Rt. 220, Waverly, Ohio. that makes a lot of sense - they have done such a fine job with the thing in town --lets move it away ??

Suspects in public shootings are typically captured within days, if not hours......

................................... "It seems a strange moral code that exempted children,"

“Even if they catch the perpetrators and they give us a reason, it’s hard to know whether to trust that reason.

deadliest mass killing so far in 2016 in the United States,

Dana Rhoden worked at the Hillcrest Nursing Home in Peebles

Big Bear Lake Family Resort owner Robin Waddell doesn’t know what to say. He’s known the Rhoden family for decades, ever since Christopher Sr. started working at the resort — building decks or roofs, excavating, ...He wasn’t a full-time employee, but the past 20 years or so, Waddell would hire the elder Chris Rhoden whenever he needed construction.

He was good, Waddell said. He was reliable. He was a friend.Often the two Christophers, father and son, would work together at the resort, Waddell said. In fact, the younger Chris was there about a week ago. He was hurting for gas money, Waddell said — a typical teenager with typical concerns.

“He said, ‘Is there anything I can do today?’” And Waddell handed him a weed cutter.

Donald did not state a gunshot to the head :

Here is what he said All the stuff that's on the news, I just found my cousin with a gunshot wound," Donald Stone told the dispatcher. "I just went in hollering at him, and checked if he was alright, and I looked up at him and he had a gunshot wound."

Touching from Jr's friend :

He was worth your time.....That’s the last thing 15-year-old Brittany Pettit says about her friend, Christopher Rhoden Jr., he and Chris were freshmen together at Piketon High School, Pettit said. They were in the same American Government class, and they shared lunch and a study hall. They’ve been friends since first grade, Pettit said. She’ll miss his jokes the most “He always had some comment to say about everything, and it just cracked me up,”

last time she hung out with Chris Jr. It was at the resort, the same place they hung out every weekend, she said.
“We were just talking about riding four-wheelers,” she said. “Just living life.” Saturday, she was at the Pike County Dogwood Festival. She used to go every year with Chris, she said.

At 12:19 p.m., she tweeted a photo of the two of them together: “this picture was taken 3 years ago during Dogwood,” she wrote. “it's crazy how 3 years later during dogwood, that your not here..........................

I don't hear "please don't hurt me" at all on that 911 call. Does anyone have a timestamp for that?

I haven't sat down and listened to the 911 call, just whatever I saw on TV, so I don't independently know if "please don't hurt me" was said. Could it have been "Please hurry!" instead?

Is that also known as Sciotoville or is that another area?

Sciotoville is a town within Scioto county. Portsmouth and lucasville are in this county also...Like Piketon is in Pike county...

If what you are saying is true someone is not being truthful.

Leonard and possibly Bobby SAID Bobby found Frankie and Hannah before she found Chris and Gary.

When she called 911 she said her brother in law, that is Chris. If they are being truthful about who they discovered first, she didn't tell 911 about Frankie and Hannah.

I don't know how to explain it anymore clearly.

I love your honesty here. This case is a good reminder that we are all so different and opens your eyes to a whole new culture and way of life. This case for me means so much more than the sleuthing.

My hope is that everyone in their sleuthing takes time to research the culture and doesn't just look at this family as what they present at face value. I am not saying that you are, I just quoted you because I liked what you said.

Thank you and A-FREAKING-MEN. I have been walking on eggshells with this case trying not to offend people with my opinions about this family (and this culture in general). But COME ON. Dad was a carpenter at a campground. Mom was a health aid (like you said - $8 an hour). Daughter was also a nursing assistant (minimum wage). And they own COUNTLESS cars, at least 14 properties, a HUGE, expensive steel barn, very expensive roosters and dogs, oh, and let's not forget that $3000 derby car owned by the kid who never worked.

It should have been obvious to anyone with eyeballs (I'm looking at you Grandpa "I didn't know anything about no drugs" Manley) that this family was DEALING DRUGS. And I agree that it wasn't just pot. This has to be related to the honey oil bust. That is BIG $$$$. And the epidemic in southern Ohio is not pot. Just this past Sunday, 60 minutes had a segment ABOUT PIKETON OHIO and its heroin epidemic. Everyone go on On Demand on cable today and watch that. It was from this very town! Yes, THIS town of 2,000 people was just featured on 60 minutes!!

The poster yesterday who noticed this happened the day after 4/20 (so there would have been a lot of cash laying around) absolutely nailed it, IMO.

And there is no way, zero chance, zilch in my mind -- that the cops weren't aware and in on the loot.

(That said, I still say there is no way this was a Mexican drug cartel. This was someone local who was SUPER pissed that they weren't cut into the business and weren't sharing in the wealth.)

ETA that I in NO WAY think the family deserved to be murdered, or to be the victim of any crime. Only that it is indisputable that this family invited a criminal element into their lives. And tragically, when you lay with dogs, you get fleas sometimes! So horribly sad for those babies!!

I agree, there are reported instances of LE being involved in "questionable" activities, including a death by shooting. I think there was blackmail going on big-time, and that the person who did this threatened Chris senior in such a way that he made Dana and possibly other family members aware. Someone wanted in on a bigger cut of the action, that's for sure - possibly someone who was going to need a great deal of money for some eminent reason...

I live close to the address listed for this business.

Edited: I do know where this is. It's up 104 further than I was thinking. Several people have owned it over the years.

Thanks! Interesting... I wonder if the Rhodens owned it or just had the same phone number. I'm a bit foggy and still need coffee this morning and have to remember the info I absorbed yesterday lol!

Howdeeeeeeeeeeeeee ye allllllllllsssssssssss!

...

Topic change: There has been a lot of reference to a lot of them being gainfully employed. The only one I know about is the 11-7 $8.68 an /hr female. Who else? IMI, There is just no way on earth, LE or any other person in this area, can drive by there, and see 15 new high end/performance vehicles all across the front yard , can not have any "idea" what is happening. I think are going to find their activities were "known" by everyone - clearing my throat now -- I mean everyone!. IMO, this is a you scratch mine.. They have supposedly been very active recently in trying to curb the drug issues.. If the FBI came in , and found labs that had clearly been in operation for years I think the FBI might be curious as to how this had not been dismantled. Lost link--looked it up regular deputies make $ 16 an hour in the drpt..................Money is an enticement on either side of the track, IMO

Being a skilled carpenter can pay extremely well, it wouldn't be difficult for someone to make 6 figures yearly if they are as skilled as we've heard Chris Rhoden was. Also, many of the cars they sell have salvaged titles. You can buy a Corvette or Mustang with low miles and heavy front end damage for a couple thousand, fix it up and sell it for 4-5 times that amount if you're skilled at fixing cars. Driving by that house would be much like driving down any road in rural areas of southern Ohio, or West Virginia, Kentucky, Tennessee. A bunch of cars in the yard, a couple trailers, a dog on a chain and some outbuildings.

$16 an hour is actually a lot of money in rural southern Ohio, especially when you add overtime and special duty shifts. Not saying they are squeaky clean, they may not be, but they're not starving on that salary.

Topic change: He sure did call the AG pretty quick now didn't he?? Humm would the AG on scene reduce the likelihood of FBI involvement? He called them what in an hour?hummmmmmmmmmmmm.

Worried about the FBI but call in the BCI, who is going to take over your investigation and has a history of utilizing federal law enforcement agencies as a resource? That doesn't make sense. The AG on scene virtually guarantees FBI involvement. The Sheriff did absolutely the right thing. This county had like 5 homicides in the previous 6 years combined. They don't have the resources or skills to deal with this.
...
Topic change: The poster that mentioned "touring" the site was a very hideous word choice hit me like that too. Disney has tours. Murder scenes just don't IMO! I was livid when I found out that yesterday was his first visit to the sites - what has he been doing for the 5 days? Its getting Andy Griffin like with each passing day. I want the FBI.

Touring was probably a bad word choice. It wasn't his first visit to the scenes, it was his first visit inside. He was there on Friday while they were being worked, didn't go in because he isn't a crime scene investigator.

Topic change: IMO any Le enforcement official, who on worldwide TV, encouraging citizens to arm up is numbing. Have any of us ever heard of LE chief, telling its citizens to "arm up". In this instance the statement becomes more moronic when the mentality stability of everyone in that place could go over the edge at any time. There is well known alcohol and serious drug addiction in the area. Lets throw in depression loss issues, rage, fear, confusion, paranoia of one another, disregard for LE in general and this guy is sanctioning just shoot. Not only is this dangerous IMO, on the global stage, we look like a bunch of armed idiots.
Telling citizens to arm themselves is not uncommon. After the Paris attacks there were calls from Sheriffs in Florida, Texas, New York, Arizona for citizens to arm themselves. The chief of police in Detroit said the same thing based simply on how violent Detroit is. They understand the reality- if someone is shooting at you and we aren't there, we'll be there to investigate your murder. If you want to live, it's on you. When you have a family that was clearly targeted, why wouldn't you tell the remaining members of the family the same thing?

I don't understand the fascination people (not just you) have with the FBI in regard to this particular case, and what it means they weren't called in to "take over". It means the FBI doesn't come in and take over murder investigations. When does that happen? If this was one double homicide nobody would be calling for the FBI. That there are 8 victims doesn't change anything about the type of case it is, a homicide investigation, which is not in the FBI's wheelhouse. The FBI will be used for what they're good at, any forensics the state labs aren't equipped for (if there are any), intelligence and profiling, and maybe some wiretapping or other electronic eavesdropping. If the FBI were handling this case we would likely have less progress but more press updates. Less progress mostly because if you want to see someone go from cooperative to shutting the door in your face in areas like southern Ohio, show them a federal badge.

et al would mean "and others" but the "others" are not named on the record- only on the recording document. One would have to go to a court house to read the document.

I can't help but be skeptical of Jeff Ruby. How would he know what "complex developments" are occurring? LE has no reason to update him or keep him abreast of anything. He's just a restaurant owner and sometimes philanthropist. Eh, what do I know...

So Chris could have other properties and he is included in the et al and might not show up on a records search?
