Im trying to reply with quote to CARIIS in previous thread (and don't know how). But this was posted:

"In the beginning do notknow how I got there, but appraisal page - all these houses were rated "D" in deliquency etc etc. So i do not think we are talkiing this big will. No the land I dont know !! It looked as if all they did was let em go deliquent by not paying and then another family member would buy it cheap rinse repeat"

Those houses are rated D low cost construction. It's based on the foundation and the materials used to build a home. Will you please provide a link showing the houses are delinquent?

Oh my lord I am not that organized , am a big picture kinda guy. It was on You Tube a lady set her camera on the screen , on whatever page you look up home sales and spent 22 minutes clicking on the material , and I just read it!! I am sorry ! But since I was watching nothing other than someone smarter to me only recording the appraisal page or whatever it is calle d--- seemed pretty accurate to me .

She was not tht sharp! But it was on the govt pages for that stuff , and it was recorded!! So how could I doubt!!!

I totally agree on the family dispute thing over pot. However I do have a feeling BM's daily chores may have been to water the plants and not feed the animals. Jmo.

I've seen this speculated many times here. My next door neighbor grows pot. It's legal for medicinal use in my state. He's allowed X amount of plants for each person that lists him as a provider on their card. His grow room is down in his basement and though he's nowhere in the quantity of what the Rhodens had, his setup uses automatic lights, watering, temp control, etc.
I'm guessing that with the much bigger (and profitable) operation the Rhodens were running, they'd have water and whatnot on timers. JMO.

Sure they would, but they would also bark at a fox in the woods and many other things. It is amazing what you learn is normal and it never wakes you.

I fall asleep with the TV on every night, never wakes me. Bad storms we go to my mom's, every noise wakes me because it isn't normal.

I sleep through my neighbor's dogs barking and I'm surrounded, I also sleep through the rooster crowing all morning.

the police like to serve warrants between 4 and 6 am for a reason. most people have thier deepest rem sleep during their last sleep cycle before waking. dogs adjust to us and they are on the same cycle unless you consciously train them to stay awake during the " graveyard" shift.
i would not be surprised if the dogs did not bark soon enough, loud enough or long enough to awaken the victims.

I know that you guys are gonna get mad at me, but I really don't care about how to grow pot. Nothing against pot, at all, just don't care about its cultivation. Clearly,it has been determined that there were 3 sites of the grow operation, so it must have been commercial. I still cannot see how some dispute in the family over the enterprise is enough of a reason to murder 8 people. That takes any benefits from the cultivation away from those 8, but also blows the whole operation and future profits and eventually puts people in prison for the rest of their lives. What was the point ????? JMO

Pay more attention to the discussions about local culture and less on the pot growing.

And maybe that was the whole point. To blow the whole RHODEN operation up. They killers could have their own operation. Plus with the Rhodens gone, clients of theirs would have to go somewhere else. That would be one point that I can see.

Another point could be that whoever got in trouble or is being investigated at the Beaver Creek property might have wanted the focus off of themselves or had something to gain with the Rhodens gone.

I agree. I'm in the same situation. Everyone I know uses timers for things, though they verify the timers are working when they should be to ensure not to ruin any plants. You'd hate to lose a whole crop because of a timer. JMO.

Up until earlier after I read DS account of KR living in a camper I assumed he lived in the mobile home next to the big red garage. So was the camper further back in behind there or to the left or right of the red garage? I can't see it on the google map. Can someone tell me where it is in relation to this photo, please?

Money. Lots of money.

Take a look at these numbers and do read this very good link to an article that explains how this grow and distribution system works. This whole case is a wake up call for us:

http://www.thedailybeast.com/articl...hio-s-massive-illicit-marijuana-business.html

Also, compare these numbers from 1999: " Kentucky's eradicated marijuana crop for 1999 yielded plants valued at $787,088,000..... Tennessee's eradicated marijuana crop for 1999 yielded plants valued at $628,226,000..... West Virginia's eradicated marijuana crop for 1999 yielded plants valued at $70,728,000"

https://www.ncjrs.gov/ondcppubs/publications/enforce/hidta2001/appl-fs.html

That is HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS of dollars per state. All illegal. This yield dwarfs any other cash crop in Kentucky and Tennessee, including tobacco.

From first article,Ohio's supposed take in plants for 2010: "In 2010, the DEA seized 22,000 plants from Pike County and 25,180 plants from neighboring Muskingum. By comparison, the rest of Ohio combined saw 58,000 plants seized that same year. The haul in Pike County was so prolific that authorities burned the contraband on hillsides instead of trying to haul it away."

That's roughly 100,000 plants for Ohio. About $250,000,000 worth. Maybe they're just getting started.

ETA: Or, this may have nothing to do with all that! :)

posts regarding gun control and the rest of the world's opinion of America in relation to gun control have been removed.

Let's do discuss what the sheriff said because there are some IMO misconceptions about that.

Let's recall that the sheriff made statements about people arming themselves. So let's discuss context.

On Sunday, April 24, 2016 during a press conference the sheriff made a statement about arming selves. To further add context, news had just broken about the three grow operations and it seemed clear the family was specifically targeted.

His statement was

"If you are fearful, arm yourself."

to add further context

Reader said he didn't believe safety was an issue for others, but he said "If you are fearful, arm yourself." If you feel you need to protect yourself or family, do so and contact the local law enforcement to come and respond to it"

Thank you! Do you know where I should look for addresses that translate properly on google maps? I'll delete my map until I get it right. I don't want to distribute misinformation.

The best place I have found that shows the map accurately is Pike County Auditor. When looking at property details, there is a spot you can click on that shows a map. You can then choose the map with aerials and also you can add layers to the maps that show owner name and address.

Maybe Kenneth was the guide for the murder rampage or someone is trying to make it look as if that's true, as if he were killed last and the money/payment strewn at his feet.

I don't disagree that the marijuana grow op more than likely plays a part in this tragedy. However, we have had more discussion about "the dogs" and "pot" than we have anything else (at least IMO anyways) and I realize that is probably because we really don't have much else to talk about as so little has been released, which is understandable.

Also, I live in the Midwest and we too have some people who live in the same types of conditions in very rural areas, many who don't as they have large farming operations, etc and/or work at other jobs in nearby bigger cities etc. Many families who are related to one another who live within very short distances of each other because we are a huge agricultural state and many of these farms have been in the family for years. There are also grow ops that have been busted and there is also meth labs that have been busted and I'm sure numerous ones (IMO) that exist that are unknown or continue on for whatever reason (s).

Many of us are armed who have permits to carry, many carry who do not have permits, many sleep with guns within reach especially in the rural areas because we too, depending on what county and what part of the county you are located in, can have slow response time from law enforcement after calling 911. Lots of wildlife to hunt and hunting seasons, main ones being deer and wild turkey - everything from bow season to shotgun season etc.

Many of us also grew up with outhouses before septic systems came about.

We have motorcycle clubs and so-called motorcycle gangs in the larger cities and yada yada.

My point being, things like this just don't happen in southest Ohio, Kentucky etc. It is everywhere. JMO

The cannabis grow operation may very well be at the center of this case. Size, methodology, crop schedules, potential distribution methods and channels, etc. might all be pertinent. On the other hand, it could be completely irrelevant, but I'm all for leaving no stone unturned.
(Ps- definitely not mad. Love what you contribute :) )

Do people who know about this - whatever the video of pot being removed - is it indoor cultivation or outside??

RE: Was the Sheriff lying about dealing with this family?
Of the 81 Rhoden cases in Pike County clerk of courts web database- 26 are cases involving victims. Of those, 20 are traffic cases from Ohio state highway patrol. Of the 6 remaining cases, all are criminal cases brought by the sheriffs's department. One case in 2013, a full 2 years before he took over as sheriff, the rest are 2008 or earlier.
Of the remaining cases involving a Rhoden who wasn't a victim, zero cases since he became Sheriff have involved his department.
It's entirely possible he has never dealt with a case involving a Rhoden in his career.

KR lived like 6 miles away on Left Fork Road, not Union Hill.

No where near there and it was an actual camper, similar to this.

Yep. He has a clipboard and keeps track of things. He took me down there one day to show me how it all works. I must say it was very interesting. As in something I might have written a report on in school. The one drawback IMO is that the whole house smelled like the weed. That's why I chuckled at all of the relatives who were saying they had no idea about any drugs. That is IF they were growing them in any of the houses. Moo.
