I don't know why he would contradict what Reader said earlier. It only makes them look stupid- like they have no idea who did the crime. I really hope this is a facade that'll help them out with the case in the end, but with the AG I don't know. He doesn't give me the same impression and Reader did.

There are better ways to do that if the case. This makes him look untrustworthy.

The lie is he was clear day one and only, the Rhodens were in danger.

Now he says there was notjing to say they were in danger really, they had 9 Rhodens
So all Rhodens were on as much danger when they made those statements as all people named Jones due to people named Jones being killed.

They also said they offered protective custody and that isn't a normal thing.

It seems like they were being cautious. It would have been indescribably irresponsible to tell the Rhodens they were completely safe when they had no idea if that were true. They were asked if the family was targeted, they went on the assumption they were. They didn't have information there was no ongoing threat to the remaining family. The sheriff said he told the family he would arm himself in their shoes. The AG's recent comments didn't contradict the original statement, they seemed to clarify it.

And while protective custody may not be a normal thing, neither is 8 dead family members at 4 locations.

9/11/2001 the state highway patrol closed the roads around the state Capitol and the parking garage under it. Downtown Columbus was nearly on lockdown with all the other state and city agencies being secured. There was never any information released that there was a credible threat, but in the immediate aftermath with an absence of information it was probably a wise move.

we need some widespread attention to things like addiction recovery services--not to mention economic recovery in places like Pike County where folks are putting food on the table by making illegal things grown out on the back 40.

I can only pray real attention to the devastation that the pill/heroin epidemic has wrought on Ohio (and our country) comes out of this tragedy. That includes real solutions to the economic troubles too, as you say. I'm from the opposite end of the state - Toledo - and have lost a half dozen friends to this scourge.

Unfortunately, I'm not optimistic, particularly based on the early coverage.

JMO Anyone who has followed cases, here or elsewhere, pretty much knows by now that they will be spun by "authorities". All MSM can do is report what they hear, and put their own spin on it.......not just DM, but all of them. The good investigative reporters often cannot publish what they know "officially", so have to use social media to tell or hint at what they know. I'm not rattled by the spin.......I expect it. I can think for myself and so can everyone here. JMO

Yeah they go always, in plainclothes. They said they would also be there as security, not normal.

You are missing the point. The man has lied. He said they basically had no reason to tell the Rhodens they were in danger.

They would have several LE there just for traffic control. The rest may be just for observation and cya in case a fight breaks out or some other trouble.

i think you're reading too much into the politics of this. In a political sense, what they said wasn't clear and couldn't stand up to scrutiny down the road. In a common sense-sense, they acted wisely.

I think you are missing the politics of this.

I think the Rhodens are in danger, my issue is not him saying that.

I'm reading the politics into it because I recognize a political speech. I'm not the only one on this thread that saw it..
