I have to say though, I'm still having a hard time believing that the mom had anything to do with Rainn's disappearance. Presumably if she did, she made up all that stuff about the diaper rash that needed IV antibiotics and the hallucinating from dehydration - because who would *intentionally* inflict that on their child??

But even if Rainn was placed in that field by a person who took her from the house, that person showed a blatant disregard for Rainn's well-being. Putting her in a field, where there are coyotes and probably ponds and ditches nearby and people are driving around on quad bikes and could have ran her over. Or she could have wandered onto the main road and been hit by a truck. Or someone might have found her and decided to abduct her for real - we already know that there are RSOs in the area. I find it hard to believe that someone close to Rainn would be *that* thoughtless.

I felt the same way and then it dawned on me; I know a mother who might cause harm to her children to get them back. As crazy as it seems, it can happen. The woman I know had her children placed in their aunt and uncles care (my close friends), while she was asked to get her life together. Her sister was not allowed contact with them either, but they had a very hard time keeping the mother and her sister within court ordered guidelines. I could ABSOLUTELY see this mother doing something strange (in a drug haze), to regain custody of her kids. In this person's case, she did the bare minimum to regain custody only to have the children removed again and the family found it would be in the children's best interest to adopt them to an unknown family and remove all parental rights from the mom and dad. It has been heartbreaking but in the end, hopefully those kiddos have a decent shot in life.

So while it may seem completely absurd to US for any mother to intentionally cause harm only to regain custody, I don't think it is really too far fetched. People like the one I mentioned above are strange, selfish, and do not think clearly. Luckily, they are also usually very transparent to social workers and LE.

I worked at an advocacy center, it absolutely does happen. The worst case I ever saw of this was a mother who harmed her daughter in such a way, that it would look like sexual abuse to be blamed on the father. The poor little girl was so terrified when she told a psychologist and police interviewer that it was mom. She had a full on panic attack.

Good point... I remembered a similar case too, where Mick Philpott was due a custody hearing for his children. He and his gf and a friend poured poured petrol through his own letterbox and started a fire whilst his children were asleep in bed, with the intention of framing the children's mother for arson so she wouldn't get custody. He intended to go in and "rescue" the children and look like a hero... But the fire spread too quickly, and all 6 children died. :(

I wonder how they could tell she was having hallucinations, since she doesn't talk.
Batting at things she may be seeing that really aren't there? Turning toward noises she hears that aren't really there?
Hmmmm...

MSM has only said the child is being treated for dehydration, hypothermia and severe diaper rash. Mom is the one who threw in "hallucinations" and "IV antibiotics". I haven't seen any information about "hallucinations" or "IV antibiotics" from anyone but mom - who had not even been allowed to see Rainn yet at the time she made those comments.

There has been, however, mention in MSM of MOM being taken to hospital for being delusional - as recently as June.

Ugg that is so sad. I can't even understand.

No more tests😉
I am so happy that Rainn will stay where she was before. I think BP jumped the gun in asking for custody of Rainn. It's a big possibility that the judge explained to BP what chances she had of getting rainn back. Hence she agreed to the temp custody without agreeing 😉
Or, maybe, BP asked for custody just in case the GGP's were found at fault and not given custody? That would be better than a stranger having custody.

Well said. I am sure the baby had an IV. She was in dire need of fluids and nutrients. But I am not so sure she had antibiotics in the IV. Probably had some oral antibiotics for various possible reasons, likely preventive since her defenses were so low.

I think mom might have exaggerated or misunderstood things. JMO

She may have had iv antibiotics because she was too dehydrated to tolerate oral abx. They can be very tough on the tummy and for a dehydrated child who hasn't eaten and was sedated, iv would be preferred, even if they wouldn't otherwise be necessary to treat the diaper rash. MOO

Were there sheds or outbuildings nearby where Rainn and her possible kidnapper could have been? Or where Rainn could have been kept until the responsible party returned to then release her? This would explain the child's cleaner appearance and the terrible diaper rash

Also, a diaper rash is really hard to get rid of. Is it possible she already had something going on and in the matter of a day (if it is true she was placed in the field), it got much worse? We flew on a flight for two hours and didn't realize our son had messed his diaper. As soon as we went to clean him, the wipes caused open sores and bleeding. It happens very quickly

I wondered about outbuildings and things too. But then I figured those would have been searched pretty early on, right?

Yes, that's true. Also, she definitely would have the IV for dehydration. It's possible they are doing IV antibiotics, because they are more effective and just out of plain convenience...since the IV is already there.

I agree, if antibiotics are needed, and the IV is in place they would most likely use the IV route.

Antibiotics can also cause and make a diaper rash worse. The IV would be the best way to go since she already had a line in, and strong antibiotics could upset her tummy.

The mom saying Rainn drank four bottles of pedilyte (hate hate auto correct) in a row made me think mom was exaggering . Her little tummy can only hold some much at a time, especially after nothing for two days.

Does Ohio have chiggers and mosquitos ?

Doctor John Cox is a pediatrician. He said studies have shown that children can show signs of hypothermia in as little as an hour and a half when they’re wet and cold, even if it’s 50 degrees outside.

“Being in wet clothes and cold, exposed air and the wind all night long, without anything blanketing her or keeping her sheltered, I’m really surprised that she made it through…the night without becoming severely, severely hypothermic.”
Fire workers are asking for new stuffed animals and toys, will not accept money, and will donate any excess toys to the Toys for Tots Drive

I am glad to see a medical professional chime in. Maybe Rainn will become known as America's Miracle Baby!

Cefalexin tore my baby's bottom up so bad due to the acidic diarrhea that I told her ped "plz no more antibx!" The ear infection was easier.

Of course, these days, doctors are wiser and antibx for simple infections is in the past
