Campbell man Randy Michaels' loved ones desperate to find him after receiving suspicious ransom calls

33-year-old Randy Michaels was last seen around 1:30 a.m. on Sunday, May 16, leaving a bar along East Midlothian Boulevard.

His mother says she last heard from him on Saturday, May 15, around 6:30 p.m. They would talk multiple times a day.

The Youngstown Police Department said a missing persons report was filed on May 22.

Randy is from Campbell. He is 5’7” and weighs 165lbs. Randy Michaels has black hair and brown eyes.

Friends and family gathered at Ipe Field on Midlothian Boulevard to search the area where he was last seen. They search the wooded area around the park, hoping to find some evidence of Randy’s disappearance.

Lisa, Randy’s mother, has received several phone calls from a New Mexico number claiming they had her son and wanting $1,500 in ransom money. After asking to talk with Randy several times, they hung up. She believes it is a scam.

“I’m not putting the money in no account until I hear my son,” Lisa said on one of the phone calls.

90 days later, Campbell man still missing

Randy Michaels was last seen 90 days ago.

Randy is a father of three beautiful little girls. Three girls who don’t understand why their dad isn’t here.

Lisa says he was last seen leaving a bar at the corner of Shirley Road and Midlothian Boulevard.

Since then, she has fought effortlessly to find him — holding search parties, working with police, even hiring a private investigator. But still, nothing.

At one point, Lisa was receiving ransom calls from someone claiming to have Randy, but she says that lead went nowhere.

Lisa says she knows Randy wasn’t perfect, but he still deserves to be home with his family.

Lisa says she calls and sends emails regularly to police for updates, but hasn’t heard any new information. But she says, she will never stop looking.

I am wondering if he is still considered missing? I tried to click the link for poster to see if there was DOB but it said unavailable. Maybe a problem on my end? Without a DOB I can't say this is the same person but there is a 33 year old Randy Michaels from Campbell with a criminal history. A warrant for his arrest was issued by the 5/7/21 by a local court. It normally takes a few days to be put into the system which wouldn't be far from date of disappearance. No judgement just info.

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) — For over a year, Lisa Michaels can’t wake up from the nightmare she has been having.

Her son Randy, 34, has been missing since May 15, 2021. He was last seen leaving the Steel City Bar on East Midlothian Boulevard at about 1:30 a.m.

“It’s been a nightmare. An emptiness that can’t be filled,” she said on the phone this week. “My first son. My oldest child. Words can’t describe how much I miss him and his daughters miss him.”

The lead investigator on the case, city police Detective Sgt. Rick Spotleson, said there is some security footage of Michaels leaving the bar but not much else.

Michaels was last seen leaving Steel City Bar and Grille at the corner of Shirley Road and East Midlothian Boulevard in Youngstown, Ohio at 1:30 a.m. on May 16, 2021. He has never been heard from again. Although he was homeless at the time of his disappearance, he kept in close touch with his mother and they spoke multiple times per day.

After Michaels went missing, his mother got a series of anonymous calls from a New Mexico phone number. The caller said they had Michaels and demanded a $1,500 ransom, but they would hang up after Michaels's mother asked several times to speak to him. His mother believes the calls were from a scammer who had nothing to do with her son's disappearance.

At the time of his disappearance, Michaels worked as a roofer. He has three daughters whom he often visited. He did not own a car and would walk to where he wanted to go.

The circumstances of his disappearance are unclear, but his mother believes he may be dead.

  • Black hair, brown eyes.
  • Michaels's nickname is Ran.
  • He may use the last name Rozay.

  2. praying hands with rosary beads,
  3. the name "Sally" and the dates "08-03-31" and "03-04-94" on the inside of his forearm
  4. the number 330 on the back of his hand,
  5. pink lips on his collarbone,
  6. the name "Lisa" in cursive on his collarbone,
  7. three dice on his right arm,
  8. the name "Jessica" on the inside of his bicep,
  9. the name "Kristina" in cursive above his collar line on the back of his neck,

Randy James Michaels is Campbell High School graduate and a father of three daughters who worked as a roofer in Ohio.

On May 16, 2021, 34-year-old Randy was seen leaving the Steel City Bar on east Midlothian Boulevard in Youngstown around 1:30 am.

Detective Sergeant Rick Spotleson told WKBN they viewed security footage that shows Randy leaving the bar, but did not specify if he was in foot or in a vehicle. Randy does not own a car and often walked to his destinations. Where he went after leaving the bar, remains a mystery.

“He just disappeared,” Detective Spotleson told WKBN.

Randy is very close with his mother, Lisa Michaels, who he speaks to several times a day. Lisa told the outlet that it was out of character for her son not to be in regular contact with her and family members. Lisa spoke with Randy the day he disappeared.

“I talked to him earlier that evening,” she told WKBN.

Detectives have followed up on a few leads, but advised none of them turned out to be credible.

“It’s been a nightmare. An emptiness that can’t be filled,” Lisa told WKBN. “My first son. My oldest child. Words can’t describe how much I miss him and his daughters miss him.”
