If it turns out she did drown and has been found in the river, it doesn't say much for that specialist dive expert Lancashire Police brought in.
He said she definitely wasn't in there, other wise he'd have found her.
It'll make him look a bit silly, especially as he was so egoistical and sure of himself.

I can only think that her body must have been concealed by mud or other underwater debris. Whatever the case, its a tragic outcome for two little girls and the entire family.

Bodies can be notoriously difficult to find. They can shift one day, to a spot searched the day before. I'm less accepting of someone who can say 100% that if they don't find them, they're not there.

She was probably tanglEd on underwater debris or branches. There’s a million different possibilities here. changes in the body afterwards eventually cause the body to float.

I really dont like it that the guy who scanned the river said she wasn’t in there. No way any tech I know of no matter how advanced could check everywhere. you would struggle with a sizeable person led search force with divers so the police aren’t really to be blamed, probably did everything they could but shouldn’t have got personal.

A bit nearer than I thought it would be after 3 weeks, but otherwise unsurprising.

I heard there was a stronger tide recently so maybe that dislodged her around the same time her body came to the surface.

Very glad she has been found; many aren’t.

Strongly agree. Absolutely he could have used his extensive expertise to assist the police and family. The at one point daily interviews on TV and with newspapers, followed by podcast episode and even Jeremy Kyle was it?

That was selfish and unnecessary and undoubtedly stirred the masses.

If he says anything today I shall be very annoyed!

Always felt his compassion and generosity was driven by his book being published on 3rd February.

So, the simplest theory, ie a slipping accident, is often the most likely thing to have occurred.

That's my first guess.
It sounds like that river is fairly deep in some sections and fast moving ?
So sorry for Nicola if this is what occurred !
No one around to call for help.

I don't know if she could swim or not, but a river current is vastly different than swimming in a lake or pool.
Even a waist high, rushing stream can knock an experienced swimmers' footing from beneath them .

Very suspicious that near the road. I think we need to wait for official information, and not make hasty conclusions yet. Then there is Fitbit, it contains important information, well, it should at least be.

Would a Fitbit remain on a body for so long, would the bloating/gases not compromise the strap? I know nothing about this area, so hoping somebody can chime in.

Three weeks.
Warmer weather.
Big tide.
Meandering river banked with trees and other vegetation.

Submerged body gets washed up and down a bit by flow, currents and tides.
Clothing gets snagged on a branch, jammed in vegetation or caught in a bend.
Body float to the surface on a warm day after the expected three weeks.
None of this is unusual,

As I understand it, PA asked PF to join the search. But because there was still an active police investigation going on, PF could only search the area with their permission, and only where they told him to search.

The other night I performed an Advanced Twitter search to track the history of PF's involvement. It went:-
1. PF starts popping up on TV somewhere, saying that he's got amazing sonar equioment, and that even if the police have the same equipment they might fail, because 'it's only as good as the person using it; and I'm the best'.
2. The Twitterverse starts tweeting 'this search needs PF'.
3. There are tweets saying 'I'm glad MWT suggested to PA that he contacts you, Peter' (during this time PF is saying he can do it for free because it so happens his team have some days spare)
4. PF and his merry red helicopter etc. turns up at the location.

So my belief is that PA asked LP, and LP said 'if he's doing it for free, and it's another resource, yes, great'. But he wasn't there to determine strategy or to be privy to the investigation itself. He was literally told where on the river his searching would be of assistance.

Miles-long stretches of the River Wyre around where Ms Bulley went missing were previously searched extensively by Lancashire Police divers and Peter Faulding, a diving specialist requested by her family.

If the fitbit isn't found with the body, then I'd expect the divers will be spending some time searching for it. I don't know how well protected they are for being in water this long though?

IMO there has been far too much 100% in this whole story.

To me this is a worrying sign that something bad is happening in society in general. Dumbing down. It gets in everywhere.
