GUILTY OH - Richard, 84, & Gladis Russell, 85, Bellefontaine, 16 Feb 2011

  • #481
While he stays in WV his dad and sis will come to visit him, provide what comfort they can. When extradited back to Ohio, he will be virtually alone. He may refuse extradition, but eventually either he will give up or the states will come to an agreement to send him anyway.

I hope the Russell's are found before Saturday or Hubby and I might have to join the search. At least we got a 4 wheel drive.

In a way his refusing extradition may be a good thing. His dad and sis seem like the type that might put pressure on him to tell where the Russell's are located.

I hope so with all of my being. I feel so sorry for the Bellefontaine community and the families of the victims. This is all so awful and heartbreaking. :(

If he admits to killing the Russell's he probably will say WV to avoid the death penalty, until they find their bodies in Ohio(probably) He's too much of a dumb sh** to have known that before hand. He makes my skin crawl. Hopefully, he will get the death penalty for Tiffany's death..if he can.

Does anyone have the video from earlier today?

<snip>

Mercer County Sheriff D.B. Meadows watched along with others in the courtroom as Littleton made known to the judge that he wanted to fight extradition. Meadows says that came as a "shock" to him.

"I think he came here hoping he could get some help from his family. Some people say he has no right to see his family. If one of my kids gets in trouble, I'd like to see him," the sheriff told Slinger.

Littleton is expected to return to the Mercer County Courthouse at 1 p.m. on March 21. Until then, he will be held without bond at the regional jail. He will be allowed to see visitors who are on a pre-approved list.

more here - including the perp will be able to visit with his family.

Here's what being reported tonight in the online edition of the Columbus Dispatch.

Eric Stewart, chief assistant Logan County prosecutor, said authorities are using some of Littleton's information as they try to find Richard and Gladis Russell, who haven't been seen or heard from since Feb. 16.

Stewart wouldn't go into specifics, but would say only that the search for the couple continues in Ohio and other states.

Littleton was in Mercer County (W. Va.) Circuit Court earlier today and told Judge William Sadler the he wouldn't agree to return to Ohio voluntarily with authorities, but instead said he will fight extradition.

Until the governors get the extradition matter settled, or at least until his next scheduled hearing in West Virginia on March 21, Littleton will remain in custody in West Virginia with no bond.

Bellefontaine Police Chief Brad Kunze had said yesterday that Littleton received injuries when he resisted arrest; in court Littleton also had cuts on his face and a black eye.

Kunze said hope of finding the Russells alive is quickly fading.

WV has no death penalty. Is that what he has up his sleeve? Admit to killing the Russells, but in WV ???

I would expect that if he tried that, he would be forced to lead LE to where the bodies are. Sadly I believe they may still be in Ohio, and that he wanted their vehicle (and possibly money) more than to have two elderly people as travelling companions. MOO

If that what he has up his sleeve, then he's going to be in for a very rude surprise.

Now if Littleton believes that he's only facing state charges from Ohio, then he's badly mistaken. He can be facing Federal criminal charges as well.

For now, I know of two potential federal crimes that he can be charged with.

The first charge is unlawful flight to avoid prosecution. He fled Ohio and went across the state line to avoid being arrested in connection with the murder of Tiffany Brown.

The second charge is auto theft. He stole the Russell's automobile and took it across the state line.

Now here is the rude surprise. If he kidnapped the Russell's, or took and forced the Russell's to take him across the state line, and admits to murdering them in West Virginia (or in another state), he will be facing federal kidnapping and murder charges.

Never mind that the state of West Virginia doesn't have the death penalty.

What Littleton doesn't yet know is that he can still get the death penalty on the federal kidnapping and murder charges in federal court.

Excellent points and so true. He may be in for a very rude awakening indeed. MOO

Thanks for posting the K-9 attack video you guys,
It was really fun to watch, especially since I pretended it was that 🤬🤬🤬 cowering behind the Walmart. He almost got away with hiding there because I am sure the cops never searched too much right there because what fool would stay by the abandoned car....oh wait.

We have a beautiful German Shepherd. She was being trained as a pup in drug sniffing, but she was too afraid of loud noises so she flunked. Luckily for us. But whenever there is fireworks or thunder she tries to hide behind the couch.

LONDON, Ohio -- The investigation into a missing elderly couple's whereabouts is now focused on their car.
...............
"Our crime scene agents will examine that blood, collect it for DNA analysis, and compare it to
other leads in the investigation," Shearer said.

He added, it could take a few days, or up to a week to process the vehicle.

Thanks Rhyme,
I emailed and got the info. Hubby said we can go. Hubby knows alot of farmers and rural roads all around there. I'm just hoping there isn't alot of snow. It's sleeting here right now. Any advice on what we should take with us besides a thermos of coffee and warm clothes?

I'd just say really good shoes/boots and maybe a walking stick, if you plan to search on foot at all.
I hope the Russells can be found quickly. How horrible this is all is.
