During questioning with Samuel Littleton, police in West Virginia learned that Littleton claimed to have discarded the bodies of Richard Russell and Gladis Russell in Georgia, specifically in Lowndes County while driving through the area in route to Florida.

A local Investigation confirmed that Samuel Littleton was in the Valdosta area on February 18. For how long and when he left the area is unknown. An extensive search was conducted, and is on-going, utilizing resources from the Lowndes County Sheriff's Office, Cook County Sheriff's Office, Lanier County Sheriff's Office, Valdosta Police Department, Hahira Police Department, CSX Railroad Police and the Norfolk Southern Railroad Police.

Early on I had seen somewhere that he had lived in fla and served time....wonder why he came back north...really so sad

I'm thinking because he either ran out of cash or was starting to and/or the credit cards he was using were getting maxed out. Or, he just knew the area there and figured he could camp out and avoid detection. In any event, I think he went the back roads to WV and changed the plates on his way through GA to FL.

OMG, the poor Russells. They must have been so tired, sick and terrified. What a complete 🤬🤬🤬 this guy is. Sorry, but that's how I feel.

OH how terribly sad...those poor dear folks. As bad as the news, at least they can be found and have dignity in their rest, and peace for the family.

“He (Littleton) is vague about where the bodies were disposed of,” Prine said.

Because of the vagueness, the search includes checking every exit off I-75 from the Florida line to central Georgia.

Why the heck is he being so vague. He's already confessed he killed them and dumped their bodies. Why can't he say exactly where he put them so this family can have some peace.

The article said that littleton said he put them in a cotton field in Valdosta FL area off of I 75. I just keep thinking about this lovely couple that has done so many wonderful things for others in their lives. They were in that car with him all the way down to Florida. He could have just let them go....there are no words for this monster. I'm just so very, very sad for the families.

They just said on our local news that the Russells were killed in their home.

At around 5 p.m. today, Bellefontaine Police Chief Brad Kunze issued a statement saying he believed that the Russells were slain at their rural county residence.

Just wanted to point out that Valdosta is in Georgia just north of the Florida border. (about 20 miles +/-)
Not saying anyone said it wrong, just don't think there is a Valdosta, FL FWIW...

IIRC, Nancy Grace was attending Valdosta State when her fiancée was murdered. It actually is a very busy town and growing by leaps and bounds.

Hopefully someone will remember seeing him and the Russell's vehicle when he was in the area.

VALDOSTA, Ga. (WVVA) - NBC affiliate WALB in Albany, Georgia, is reporting a search is underway in Lowndes County for an elderly Ohio couple missing since last week.

WALB says the man arrested in Princeton Wednesday, Sammy Littleton II, has told investigators he abducted 85-year old Gladis Russell and 84-year old Richard Russell from their home in Logan County, Ohio, drove to Georgia, killed them and dumped their bodies near I-75.

My condolences to the family and friends of Richard (Dick) and Gladis Russell. May the Russells be restored to their youth in the heavens and may they meet up again with loved ones and friends who have gone on before them. It is a good time for them, but such a sad time for those left behind.

I'm completely and thoroughly saddened by the senseless violence inflicted on this sweet couple.

Peace and rest and blessings to the Russells. Dance now Richard and Gladis. Dance with the angels. Your pain is over.
