Ohio man, Scott Allen Renninger, 52, was arrested and charged with conspiracy to commit murder. He is alleged to have hired a hitman for $20,000 to kill his wife.

Renninger made frequents comments about crime shows: Renninger "relied on his knowledge of 'cop shows' to try and outsmart authorities."

"The Ohio man claimed he’d watched “a thousand hours” of true crime shows and knew how suspects got caught. “With no body, they can’t charge you,” Renninger is said to have told an associate" (Daily Beast).

Wife is identified in some reports, not identified in others.

He obviously missed the crime shows about "no body" prosecutions.

Yep. Might have been smarter to put those 1000 hours to better use and open a WS account.

Or, spent a few of those hours and looked into a divorce or separation. I hear it's even more tricky for those pesky authorities to make a case when a spouse ISN'T harmed in any way, shape or form.

He was just greedy. Apparently they had enough assets to divide them and walk away. He wanted the lot. Now he has nothing..not too smart....

As a self proclaimed crime show expert too, it has been my experience that most of the shows wrap with somebody going to the clink for the “true crime” so he should have taken better notes.
