I've watched the news on this a lot this evening. The coroner has told Shakira's family that they are sure it is her. However, DNA will absolutely establish this. But, everything about the body points to the fact that it is her.

The Mayor went to see the family. Just from watching the people that were questioned about this, I believe there is going to be an outcry like none before over this. Why no Amber Alert? In all that I watched this evening, that was never brought up. Not once.

Her poor mother is devistated.

CLEVELAND -- It's all but certain that the child's body found in a field Wednesday morning is Shakira Johnson, the 11-year-old girl who disappeared last month.

As of today's autopsy they are certain it's an 11 yr old female and some clothing is similar to what Shakira was wearing that day.

I feel so badly for her family. I read an article saying that Shakira's mother was baptised last night. Every parents worst nightmare, but no one can even imagine the pain Shakira's parents are living through....

Daniel Hines is either one of the luckiest villains to walk the streets of Cleveland or an incredibly unfortunate innocent man.

Twice Hines stood trial in Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court for separate, unrelated crimes that, had he been convicted, could have sent the 26-year-old to prison until he was an old man.

Twice a jury found him not guilty: In December in the murder of 11-year-old Shakira Johnson; then in March in an alleged attack on his 14-year-old cousin and a family friend.

But the jury in March failed to reach a verdict on charges that Hines kidnapped, molested and tried to rape another cousin, a 13-year-old girl, on July 4, 2003.

On the two-year anniversary of his sister's disappearance, 15-year-old LaQuan Johnson pleaded for her killer to turn himself in.

"Come forward and take responsibility for what you've done," he said, standing tall with an arm around his mother. "Bring justice to my sister and peace to my family."

The thought that Shakira Johnson's killer is still out there haunts those who gathered Tuesday night on the corner of East 110th Street and Union Avenue in Cleveland, near where the 11-year-old girl was last seen.

The suspect (acquitted) in Shakira's murder, Daniel Hines, was arrested last Thursday for raping another 14 yr old girl. I can't find anything but video on the case right now.

Daniel Hines, the Cleveland man acquitted in December 2004 of the murder of 11-year-old Shakira Johnson, was arrested Thursday on a warrant accusing him of raping a 14-year-old Cleveland girl.

Hines was the only suspect in the 2003 kidnapping, rape, murder and dismemberment of Shakira, whose body was found about a month after her disappearance in a field on East 71st Street.

Hines maintained his innocence, and accused police, then-Mayor Jane Campbell and Cuyahoga County prosecutors of persecuting him.

Hines was also accused of trying to rape a 13-year-old cousin a few weeks before Shakira's disappearance, and spent 20 months in jail during his trial before being cleared of that crime as well. Several of his young relatives accused him of raping the 13-year-old girl, then assaulting her 14-year-old brother and a family friend when they intervened.

Twenty-nine-year-old Daniel Hines of Cleveland was found guilty yesterday of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor and 15 counts of importuning. He faces up to 22 years in prison.

He's very strange and I don't think he's going to hold up very well in prison. That's ok with me though. Thank God he's off the streets now.

I just finished reading about this case. I can't believe the guy was acquitted twice and of course, he went back out and harmed more girls.
