AHH!!! I can not longer access the Fulton County court site - to check if Worley's execution date is STILL May 20, 2025!!

I get this message:

Connection denied by Geolocation Setting.
Reason: Blocked country: Latvia
The connection was denied because this country is blocked in the Geolocation settings.

I do not know "why" I would be blocked... ??

Here is the link - if someone can check this? Case ##16CR000106 DOB 4/8/59

TIA!
and is @jashrema still around?
There won't be any executions in Ohio until at least 2026. DeWine (governor) has made it very clear he will not sign any death warrants as it is against his moral principles.

It says case number has no letters, only numbers, for me

Well - that is the only case # I have - maybe just 16-000106 ??

Here's a recent article - and it still says execution date

April 15, 2025
.....
Ultimately, he was sentenced to capital punishment, in addition to 11 years in prison for kidnapping, eight years for felonious assault, 11 months for possessing criminal tools, and 36 months each for tampering with evidence and having weapons under disability. Ever since his death sentence, his execution has been postponed a couple of times due to appeals. In July 2020, the defense counsel of James requested to grant him a new trial and overturn his conviction, claiming that the jurors were acquainted with the killer and the Joughlin family, making it an unfair trial. They also argued that the prosecution failed to prove various aspects of the charges against James. The court denied the appeal and upheld the conviction, setting the new execution date for May 20, 2025. Currently, he is held at Ross Correctional Institution in Chillicothe, Ohio, where he is awaiting his execution.

Since I have this in my notes - thought I would post it anyway. At least I can shorten it up a bit.

Tuesday, May 20th:
*Execution Date postponed-NO executions scheduled until July 2026 (@ am CT) - OH - Sierah Joughin (20) (July 19, 2016, Fulton County) - *James Dean Worley (57/now 66) indicted on 2 counts of aggravated murder, abduction & felonious assault; also w/having weapons under a disability, aggravated robbery (dismissed), 4 counts of kidnapping, 1 count of possessing criminal tools, gross abuse of corpse & tampering with evidence. DP case. Fulton County
Accused of abduction 26 yrs ago.
Jury trial on 3/27/18 Found Worley guilty on all charges & sentenced him to death. Appeal filed 6/1/18. Appeal rejected 7/1/21. Appealed again 9/30/21.

Info from 4/27/18 thru 3/14/20 reference post #988 here:
https://www.websleuths.com/forums/t...-19-july-2016-10.369515/page-50#post-15239732

4/10/20: Defendant's unopposed motion for an amended scheduling order because of COVID-19 to extend 6/27/20 deadline for filing as defendant was unable to complete his post conviction investigation within the time period. 5/26/20: Filed that public defender will not be back at work until 9/8/20.
7/15/20 Update: Defendant filed motion for new trial & seek to overturn death penalty sentence.
8/31/20 Update: The FBI & Fulton County Sheriff's Office have returned to the property where Sierah was killed. Crews were seen digging there Monday afternoon & left around 4:30 p.m. They have not stated what they were digging for. The Sheriff's Office said that the "investigation into Worley continues & no further information can be discussed at this time." The property where the authorities were digging was awarded to Joughin's family in summer 2018 following a civil suit. The family had the barn where she had been tortured and killed torn down. The area being dug is where the barn used to stand. Could be looking for Claudia Tinsley who disappeared in 1996. In 2000 a search warrant was executed at his home looking for her. A dog was used and it hit on several points on the property; outside corner of barn, fire pit, and outside of home by basement window.
7/1/21 Update: Ohio Supreme court rejected his appeal. And Court determines Worley's execution is set for 5/20/25. Determined jury was not tainted, no venue change was needed, rejected claim of ineffective counsel. 9/30/21 Update: Ohio Supreme Court puts Worley execution on hold as of 9/30/21 while he appeals again.

Currently watching a documentary about Sierah. This was the case that brought me to Websleuths and seriously shook me out of my sense of safety. That year, I'd been taking a trip every weekend to a random state park to ride my bicycle. Her disappearance was the first that made me think maybe I shouldn't be so careless...

It was a shocking, horrific, case. Difficult to believe a human being can be so evil. Looking forward to the day he is executed.

I wondered where Worley was in the justice system. I'm fairly local to the case and was aware of the state's ability to carry out death sentences.

I found this as the most recent article:

TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) - The execution of a man convicted of kidnapping and killing University of Toledo student Sierah Joughin was scheduled to happen Tuesday. But, according to court records, the execution was stayed due to pending motions filed by the defense.

Due to pending motions, the case is under review and no new execution date is set.

Nine years ... Sierah would likely have been a Mom by now. Senseless, brutal murder.

Worley will be executed, just not soon enough for my liking.

I see there are pending motions for this case per a post above. I tried getting into the Fulton County court site to see if there are any hearings scheduled for the motions, but since I am in the EU - I am "forbidden" to access it. Was wondering if someone reading here can access it:

and update us with anything new there? TIA! :)

Worley has to be living in overwhelming fear of his date of execution, even as it has been stayed. Which is the terror Sierah lived with before she was killed. So there is some justice in that.

He's not, sociopaths don't think that far ahead. He's undoubtedly more concerned with what is going to be served for breakfast than something that may happen 6 years, or even 6 months down the road.

Once execution is imminent, he'll start fearing what's coming.
