Is the presence of semen the only thing rape kits look for? Would that be how they determined she wasn't sexually assaulted or do they look at other aspects as well?

Not necessarily. She may have only testified to what she is considered an expert, it’s possible another expert may give results to other aspects of the rape kit.

This is a .org website I found that appears to be credible and helps explain the answer to your question.

Rape kits also comb for hair in pubic area and look for evidence of trauma

Thank you and Bravo both. I assumed it looked for other things because otherwise just wearing a condom would invalidate the test.

Toi Creel@ToiCreel 30m30 minutes ago Sunglasses were also swabbed for blood, also clothing, lace bandeau (Joughin was found wearing, among other things, wearing a bandeau).

What's a "bandeau"???

Other sources have referred to it as a tube top. From watching clips where they were holding up evidence, it looked to me like essentially a stretchy piece of lace. When they held it up, it didn't look like it was wider than 3 or 4 inches.

I’m familiar with rape kits but with not being an expert thought better of it to post a creditable site to explain. [emoji6]

Even if protection is used, I believe rape kits can test for the presence of spermicide, lubrication etc but again I’m not an expert.

It's like a tube top. I think.

ETA: I actually looked it up, it's like a strapless bra made of stretchy material.

Many types.... bra, bathing suit top, lingerie etc

I watched the trial the day the top was shown. This is what I imagine it looked like new. There wasn’t much to it.

So it's known that she was taken to his house of horrors aka the barn? Oh this sweet child. What a cruel person he is! I can't imagine the pain and emotions her family and friends are feeling while listening to this. He should have just pled guilty! Now all HIS family knows what he is as well.

I remember seeing the lace tube top thingy when we had live stream. It didn't look very wide and was covered in what looked like dirt. if I remember correctly there was one that sounded same by description in the green bin. Anyone else remember?

Trial of The People vs. James Worley moving more quickly than expected. - https://buff.ly/2GyDf13

One of the experts, a member of the FBI, analyzed all the data and confirmed that their cell phones were in the general vicinity of each other for a couple of hours.

After all of this evidence was analyzed for bodily fluids, a member of the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation said blood and semen were found on some of the items. However, it is unsure at this point if that was from Sierah or Worley

You are correct, there was one in the green bin. They showed that one at some point too and referenced how it was similar to the one found on Sierah. They also showed a picture of it to Josh and asked him if he'd ever seen her wear anything like that. That was in the video clip of his testimony on The Blade's website.

IMO this is his ultimate hurrah.... I think he’s enjoying hearing about his “work”! Twisted....

I agree MamaP! He certainly doesn't seem too affected by hearing it, other than the report he didn't want to see where he buried her.

If I am remembering correctly, when JK was asked if he ever seen her wear something similar it was in reference to the pink bottoms with black belt. Lace top wasn’t introduced until the next day. Correct me if I’m wrong.

Has it been confirmed she was in the barn?

That was for dramatic effect.....I’m sure. 🤢[emoji35]

Not definitively, the previous witness stated that they found blood and semen was on some of the items but they didn't state whether they were Sierah's and Worley's. The witness on the stand now should be able to provide the answer to that.
