OH - Spencer and Monique Tepe found shot to death at home 2 children unharmed, Columbus, 30 December 2025 *ex-husband arrested*

I think they'll track him down by car, he had to park somewhere nearby and then walk to the house.

A horrible thought, could the murderer who may have been familiar with the house, have the door code and have been hiding in the house. This may extend the timeline beyond what the police are looking for. Are there security cameras outback?
It is likely that their is DNA evidence on the shell casing amongst other areas. My guess is that will nail him / her. From what I can gather, this family were warm and hospitable. The house was a place everyone gathered in.
If they were hiding inside before they got home, I would think their dog would be acting differently and possibly keep walking to where they were? That breed of dog is friendly and very sweet, not aggressive.

Guest room?
I agree…I find it hard to believe parents room was in basement. He may have been shot there. But I doubt that was their main bedroom. When we find out where her body was found. That will give us more information on how things may have played out. Did he have a meeting with someone at home and it went bad??

Wondering if it took 3 bullets to kill Spencer, but only 1 to kill Monique?
Does the number of shots fired reflect the shooter's main target?
'Spencer Tepe had multiple gunshot wounds while Monique Tepe had at least one gunshot wound to the chest, according to local ABC News affiliate WSYX'.

Earlier, many were discussing this 12 midnight time. Many speculate that LE, must therefore, have specific data that suggests they were alive at 11;59.
I do keep thinking LE MUST know that someone was NOT hiding inside for any period of time.
But it just seems so possible that someone was........

I hope LE does provide their certainty of that 12 midnight statement SOON.
Police may know someone had entered the house earlier, and they weren’t hiding. It’s possible that text messages or calls found on one of the Tepe’s phones show that someone was expected to visit the home.

I have watched a good bit of the Wedding video... but I, too, just find it so painful to watch.
But just asking a question for clarity....
Are you saying that architectural rendering is in the video?
Wonder why.
Right, @nhmemorymaker. If this was a targeted double murder, I can see where the YT wedding video may have been helpful to the killer.

My theory is that he was sleeping in the basement room and she in a room closer to the 1-year-old, who may still wake during the night.

I can see why figuring out how the perp(s) gained entry will tell authorities something about that person, if no doors/windows were damaged. But we don't know that.

Did he have a meeting with someone at home and it went bad?

In the middle of the night?

I wonder if Monique was found by the door…shot as soon as she opened it. Then her husband was chased to the basement bedroom.

I can also see a parent with a sick child, running out to an all night pharmacy, being followed and confronted with the gun as he tried to exit the car. There would be no need for forced entry then.

If targeted, it almost seems like anyone they let in at night, no attorney present, no apparent fear etc…was someone they knew well and trusted.

If the killer was someone they knew and trusted, maybe he (for simplicity, I do not exclude women here) gained entry by pretending he needed emergency place to sleep. Then it would have some sense if Spencer was found in the basement. I mean they could have a guest bedroom there.

We have no idea how long they were dead for. Do we know the last time someone actually talked to them? They have could’ve been dead for many hours.

BOth main and rear door are made mostly of glass. If she fell at the door, she would be very much visible for anyone standing on the doorstep.

I’d be curious to know what they did the day before. Were they gone for extended periods of time where someone could’ve gotten in and hid out inside? Any arguments or disagreements with people? Was there anything out of the ordinary? Why the 30th? What caused that person to finally snap?

I don't think this is a robbery. My speculation is that this is a hate crime. Money or a former lover, jealousy, revenge.
In regards to money....

I wonder about the financial statuses of the victims' families. Could they have been helping out family members financially?

Young doctors / dentists do not necessarily have a lot of disposable income, but even relative wealth coupled with a perception that "doctor" automatically translates to "wealth" may have led to the couple being approached as a source of cash by somebody?

If so, perhaps the help being generously provided became an expectation? This person then becomes enraged after being cut off...

Or they may simply refuse to help financially .

Certainly, LE has more data that they are not sharing.
We need them to tell us WHY they want people to search ring and other surveillance ONLY after 12 midnight.

They probably checked their phones and saw when they were last active, I guess.

Wouldn't that be stupid of the perp to place themselves at the scene?

Young Drs, dentists these days can also be carrying a lot of student loan debt. Expensive home. Stay-at-home wife. Not saying that this is the case, but if money issues are involved, they might present in many different forms.

Prisons are full of perpetrators that were evidently stupid enough to get caught. Some moreso than others.

That report came only from WSYX ABC 6 Columbus based off the 911 call (and was repeated by People etc.) It stated:

1. We don't know it's accuracy. I've heard the dental practice's 911 call but have not heard a link to this one.
2. We don't know if the friend had access into the residence/crime scene.
3. We don't know if the basement was used as say a guest bedroom and that for whatever reason is where they ended up and that's the location cited (you can see into the basement through the large egress window). I doubt this because reports of the wellness check said the officer checked both the front and back door, so he would have seen the same thing and had probable cause to immediately enter.
4. It is possible that he like @OhioGuy suggested procured a ladder and checked the second story windows, though seems a bit more far fetched. There are actually not that many windows and the sides of the houses between are minimized for privacy. Maybe they had an extendable pole cam or a drone even, yes far-fetched but who knows?

The wedding video that they are keeping up on YT, though heartbreaking from a human perspective, provides a lot of layout from a clinical web sleuthing angle, including the inside of the house and a hovering drone shot of the entire neighborhood/back alley/yard, adjacent streets etc.

Search this thread for my post #157. I’ve seen today more outlets have released it but yesterday am it was a link to a National ABC piece with an excerpt of that friends 911 call.
