When you think about this logically it’s actually slightly weird - not the concern. But how fast they made it to the house to do a welfare check when they had already called police - given the distance of the work location and the home

Do you know how many drove from the “office” to their house? I don’t remember that. I do remember there was mention of a coworker(s) that lived close by and they went to the house check on them, friends also.

Maybe it's been discussed here already, but it seems interesting to me that someone would want to call 911 so early when their colleague is a no show? Only an opinion- nothing more.

there's been some dissent about this across the internet lol. i also find it somewhat odd. i understand he was a highly reliable 37 year old medical professional so being a no show no call is stranger than say, a 19 year old fast food worker doing the same. But to be honest i'm not sure if i would go to police after just an hour. i can think of scenarios in which S and M aren't reachable for an hour or 2 that have nothing to do with them being deceased. but that's just me.

to be clear, i'm not necessarily saying i suspect the co-workers (although again at this point since we don't know much, i suspect everyone), but i'm curious if maybe they had some reason to suspect it was a serious situation other than it just being out of character for him to no call no show.

My assumption is the officers on the scene wouldn't question the children beyond perhaps basic info but instead provide comfort and care - and arrange for specialized interogators who know how to deal with children to do the questioning.

I am not an expert, though.

Yeah. Honestly, it seems he lives relatively far away, so if there was any reason to suspect him they’d be able to come up with proof fairly quickly. Family and friends are the first people they’d look or ask questions to, and I’m sure they’d find something if they had any reason to believe he was a suspect.

If a perp could shoot two people in their bed ,that perp is also capable of leaving their own home when others are sleeping and arriving home before they awake . There is as much chance of getting caught either way so perp willing to kill will take risks to avoid detection imo

I would assume patients were starting to arrive, so it's not just a co-worker not at their desk, but patients expecting dental care. That makes it important for the clinic to know what is happening, and to be alarmed early.

Not merely a colleague, but a person who almost certainly was scheduled to see patients that day (office opens at 8am).

He'd never been late before, and would have called if he was going to be. His wife was also unreachable, which sent the concern skyrocketing.

This isn't Joe Shmoe being late for his job at some big business - his not being there on time was a big deal.

Perhaps there's a 30 min window allowance before call attempts were made to the dentist. Usually the dentist is the last person the patient sees.

But who do we know actually showed up at the house? It could have been a coworker/friend who was local to Columbus that day. We don't know that someone drove 90 minutes from the office to his house and found them. I would agree that would be weird.

In this early Dispatch article from 12/31, the neighbor across the street told reporters that he would see Monique leaving for work every morning?

Was Monique currently working outside of the home and if so who was caring for the children while they were working?

He said he would often see Monique leaving for work about the same time that he was leaving every morning. Garcia said the shooting concerned him and that the neighborhood was otherwise fairly quiet.’

I don't believe so. unless i've missed it, as far as i know, the only person involved that morning that's been identified is the boss/owner who called in the welfare check from his vacation in Florida. the exact identity of the others - whether they were co-workers who weren't in the office that day and lived closer to Columbus, friends nearby, cousins or other extended family etc - hasn't been made public.

It was one of the 911 calls, there were a couple of calls. The last call is the police on scene, stating 3 males are inside. It’s a few pages back, maybe more.

And on the front page of today's edition of the Columbus Dispatch newspaper, there was a front page news article about the neighborhood where the murder occurred.
