OH - Spencer and Monique Tepe found shot to death at home 2 children unharmed, Columbus, 30 December 2025 *ex-husband arrested*

It is not. I still think that was the urgency to call 911. Again IMO. No need to start rehashing that again.
Yep-I do think this is the reason they called 911 so quickly

This is a puzzler. Their (ex and Monique) marriage was short, no children. She's been remarried for 5 years, so there's also dating of Spencer making it longer. Ex had also remarried and divorced in that time. He's a neurosurgeon, and threw everything away because of a grunge? Did he harbor anger because he realized the failed marriage must be his fault as Monique went on to successfully have another marriage and children? Tragic and baffling. jmo
Vascular surgeon. Not remarried.

I'm really interested to know how this guy gained access to the home.

Knowing the code to the door is one thing, but one would presumably have to know the alarm code, or know they didn't use it. The Tepe's have a Simplisafe sign in their front yard.

That system could have been how law enforcement knew the exact time this occurred though.

I was talking to her and she asked "Why me?" I told her I thought it was because she was the one who got away. He made the decision to terminate the second marriage. She made the decision to escape the abuse and his control (helped by her therapist, her lawyer, and some friends) and he can't stand that.
SBMFF

It could be this, but it could be the fact he can't stop thinking about her. Case and point... I have a stalker who is happily married. I only knew them from morning coffee at a local shop. So I wasn't an ex "that got away". I stopped going when Covid hit which is almost 6 yrs now. Out of the blue he mailed me a financial magazine the other day (we used to talk finances). No message, no note. Just his return address on the envelope and the magazine. To me that was message enough. "I'm thinking about you" is what it told me.

So that is why I think it could be that he just couldn't stop thinking about Monica and might have nothing to do with the "one that got away".

Who knows what goes on in the minds of weirdos? I certainly have no clue. It's hard to imagine when you're sane and they are "off".

When you look at those divorce proceedings, was it reopened or a glitch? what was it?
Then his address, seems he was selling, kept reducing the price and sold at a loss
Who is in Rockford where he was arrested?
Is there a connection, between the divorce reopening and the sale of that property? Did she have a lien? kind of worth looking in to. Just to get the facts

It is my understanding from the WSYX-TV website that McKee is scheduled to have an court appearance on Monday in Illinois for an extradition hearing and that he could be extradited back to Ohio as soon as Monday afternoon.
Yes good. Thank you for the information.
He will have to hire an Ohio attorney or get a public defender.

I think his family lives in Zanesville and they perhaps will get involved.

I wish two things:
1. The suspect gets a fair trial, and all the facts are presented.
2. Justice is served for the Tepes.

Exactly. I suppose like anything else, having extensive background "experience" is required to pull off such a feat as modern-day murder without a hitch. McKee's a newbie, and unless he simply didn't care about getting caught, his lack of planning is perplexing for anyone who's ever watched a case of Forensic Files.

You just can't drive in your own car cross-country on highways and toll roads to the proximity of a murder scene and get away with it.

That being said, there must have been some planning above and beyond a hoodie and facemask.

The big question for me is egress. Would the Tepes have let this guy in at 3:30 in the morning? Possible, but hard to believe, all things considered.

Would he have driven all that way in the simple hopes that they left the door unlocked AND the alarm off AND actually encounter that very scenario on the night he happened to be there? Seems unlikely.

Was he a McGuyver level lock-picking, sensor-dodging ninja? Highly doubt all that.

Was he hoping they set the code to something easy and was willing to beat a hasty retreat if wrong? Not this nutjob.

I hypothesize the one thing he did have in his proverbial back pocket was the entry code and alarm code (if different). How he got it is what I want to know, especially if this guy was persona non grata amongst the Tepe clan.

Egress is exiting. He just let himself out but how did he get IN?

We will no doubt find out in time.

He may have been visiting friends or family locally, not necessarily driven over to commit these murders.

Would he have to agree to waive for it to happen that quickly? I forget how it works?

Yes he would have to agree to waive for it to happen that quickly.

But if he doesn't waive extradition, then it can take weeks to extradite him back to Ohio.

When this happens, the Ohio Governor have to send an extradition request paper to the Illinois Governor.

And when the Illinois Governor approves and signs the Ohio extradition request, then he is sent back to Ohio to face his criminal charges.

He probably was visiting family for the Holidays in Zanesville, Ohio and on his way back home to Rockford, Illinois stopped by the Tepe's in Columbus (which was about 1 hour away from Zanesville) to commit this crime. Did he have this planned out? If so, how far in advance? How did he know that the Tepe's wouldn't have guests staying over that night? The fact that he used his own vehicle is stupid if he had this planned out for any length of time.
Based off the arrest warrant and posts from CPD, we know he traveled from Columbus to Rockford, IL after the murders. I will be curious to see where he drove to Columbus from - did he stay in the area leading up to the murders, or did he drive through the night from somewhere?

No source/unverified - I read on multiple other forums that he was adopted but estranged from his adoptive family so that would rule out the holidays with them.

Jmo but, if true, "rejection" from Monique, estrangement from his adoptive family, the known lawsuit mid 2025 in Nevada someone posted links to, holidays, etc could all be triggering factors for his heartless actions.

jmo, moo etc etc

Ex was not remarried and may not have had a successful dating life after the divorce from Monique. Maybe he gave off weird vibes and no woman wanted to date him for long. So in his mind, Monique was the one who got away (the one he had had any kind of extended relationship with) and she was doing extremely well without him - new family with loving husband and darling kids. Yes, just rage and envy and jealousy probably were the key motivators for this murder. MOO.
Podcasters have found ex had remarried in 2017, the same year as his divorce to Monique, about a month after the divorce. Court records show he was also divorced from the second wife in 2022 (he shows the court records in the video). Fugitive TV podcast. He suspected it was the ex a few days ago. Starts at 13:40m mark on. There's other odd court documents in this, regarding ex and Monique (this past summer).

This is what also threw me off from the ex. He would definitely not have the code. This could’ve been something that did not look like a forced entry.
Also, I’ve seen many references regarding their dog not barking, etc. We really do not know if their dog barked at all, but I will say from my experience with this breed, they are very friendly. Also, the dog could’ve been crated or in a bedroom IMO

Different Michael D McKee. This one didn’t remarry or divorce.

May I ask how you know this so definitely? Thanks. Do you have a link?

Thanks; fixed the typo. I meant ingress.

There has been some unsubstantiated talk that he could have been in Zanesville visiting family, an hour away. But even if that's true, his car was captured on CCTV in the area of Weinland Park the middle of the night during the exact time frame of the murders.

Covered many times here. Many YouTubers located records but didn’t compare dates of birth. The guy who remarried and then divorced was in his sixties and married (and divorced) a man.

Edit: I’m not linking to this YT channel as a representation of fact except for the parts that present the 55-page divorce docs and some commentary about the mistakes made by other YT presenters. I don’t know if it’s allowed but if not, please report/delete. There were many sensational claims about the other Michael D McKee but all have been debunked.

Regarding the exact time of the murder - I hang around a good bit of medical professionals. These days a LOT of them are wearing Oura rings and now our family uses them too. They provide a ton of data, primarily focused on sleep so you wear it to bed. Would not surprise me at all if one or both of the victims had such a device on

With the Idaho case, I’ve spent way too much time trying to think of how you would avoid tying yourself to a vehicle. Career criminals just steal cars (then burn them), which seems to work, but if you don’t have a criminal background, you probably just increase your odds of getting caught if you attempt that.

I recall from the Idaho case that the search for matching vehicles only reached to neighboring states. So, one could get a long term rental (like, one month), from somewhere at least 1,000 miles away. 2 day drive, take your time and see some sights. Somewhere in the middle, steal a license plate. Ideally from a car with the same make and model, and from a location without cameras. Swap the plates (somewhere isolated). Swap back somewhere else isolated along the way back. Benefit to keeping the car for a month is you’ll be less likely to be suspicious for having a large number of miles on the car.

It seems surprising to me that someone with a surgeon’s background and money wouldn’t go to those steps, since it seems simple enough to me, but it may have been a more spur of the moment crime with limited planning. Which I do think makes sense. Months of anger and obsession build up, and then something over the holidays triggered him to snap.
The car license swapping seems a bit complicated to me and risky? You start stealing plates and you might get caught and arrested?

And as you say, there may not have been extensive planning. Or he thought he was too smart to get caught, or didn't care.
Thought he had covered all the basics.
