OH - Spencer and Monique Tepe found shot to death at home 2 children unharmed, Columbus, 30 December 2025 *ex-husband arrested*

There are baby monitors that will send notifications via an app on your phone that include video. MM may have thought of everything except a mom of a 1 year old having a bay monitor.
Living in a two story home, I have no doubt Monique had what you describe. It would function just like a blink camera alert.

But would she have it on at night when the kids were right next to her bedroom?

Did he consider the consequences? Or had he convinced himself he was so smart, he could commit the perfect crime?

It was a long way from being the perfect crime and I honestly don't think he even bothered trying to cover his tracks.
I feel like he could have been a little more creative and at least attempted to stage it as a murder suicide.
He didn't even get rid of the weapon afterwards. I think he fully expected to be caught.

It will be very interesting to learn exactly how much time he spent preparing for the murders. Google searches, did he already have the gun and purchased a silencer for it, surveillance and researching how to get into the house.

Considering that in Illinois, where Dr McKee lived and was later arrested, civilians are not permitted to be in possession of suppressors under any circumstances. I guess he either applied for the ATF/NRA permit and purchased it in a different state, or it was purchased on the blackmarket.

How he entered is what I’m most curious about.

Isn't that the million dollar question. Actually it's one aspect of the crime that he apparently planned quite well.

It’s usually plugged in 24/7 and the alerts sent to your phone would sit there until they were opened. Maybe MM didnt bank on a baby monitor or taking their phones.

I am so curious about how he will plea. If he's as intelligent as reported then he knows that he can't get away with this. In fact it's almost like he didn't care if he got caught. He really didn't try to hide much at all, he didn't even bother getting rid of the weapon. He had days to do that. JMO

Same here, how did he get in? 🤔

The Nanit type monitor would capture the sound but it wouldn’t capture video unless he went into the kids room (and near their beds) which I highly doubt. So while the monitor might give them the time of death based on sound, it’s likely not what did him in. Neighborhood surveillance video is what got him caught.

It's possible he wants his day in court. To rant and rave about how the world has been so unfair to him. And does not appreciate his brilliance.

Oh I believe that, but I was wondering more about that 3:52 incident time. How did they come up with that time?

Dbm-misread comment.

It’s many times on the registry for a shower. I purchased one for someone close to the family a few years back. I think I paid around 200.

Edit: sorry I misread. I thought you meant MT didn’t “bank on one” aka buy one. Read the comment too fast!
No worries. I should have been more clear, I should have said that he probably didnt bank on them having a baby monitor.

The one I had for a family member sent me video, it was a Vtech one, but I think it was b/c I set it up through the app. The monitor itself didnt store anything, I hooked it up via wifi and my cloud so it worked similar to a ring camera.

I said he thought it would be the perfect crime, not that I thought it. Because of the distance, time since divorce, he’s a Doctor, ect., likely thought he was safe no one would ever look at him. Thought his room reservation at hospital would alibi him.

My opinion is, he bought one or both in Nevada.

Agree with your last point 100%!

"A public defender with the 17th Judicial Circuit Court representing McKee, Carie Poirier, requested a speedy return to Ohio. Poirier indicated McKee intends to plead not guilty to the charges against him." Michael McKee, man accused of killing ex-wife and dentist, to be extradited to Ohio

Smart watch maybe?

I don’t think he was thinking straight or even capable of sane thinking. Anyone who goes into somebody’s house and murders them in the middle of the night doesn’t have a brain like you or me.
I think he’s a man without a soul. MOO

And when MM does go on trial on the aggravated murder charges, it will be interesting to see if the prosecutor will have the death penalty on the table.

If the death penalty is on the table, MM can only get the death penalty or life without parole for the aggravated murder charges.

But if the death penalty is off the table, MM can either get 20 years to life, 25 years to life, or 30 years to life for aggravated murder.

If any plea deal is made with the death penalty off the table, hopefully the prosecutor will insist that MM serve life without parole on the aggravated murder charges.

<modsnip> I'm sorry if he is an 'injustice collector", hopeless romantic still in love with his Ex, or just a plain psychopath, he gets not one ounce of consideration from me. We rarely, if ever, get the factual truth of why any of these killers do what they do. Millions of people involved in relationships that fail move on and continues their lives successfully.

His circumstances don’t matter to me either, other than just wanting to gain some insight into how this happened.

Ooh, what was the situation with the room reservation / alibi?

Did all the doors have a keypad lock on them? Can't those be unlocked, too? I thought that I saw a video telling you how that was done??

IMO, this was not a one-night, spur-of-the-moment plan. I believe that he was probably at the home at least one time to see what type of security system they had and what kind of locks were on the doors.

Then, he could see the layout of the home with the photos online.

I still don't understand the obsession or why he did it. I am skeptical that he received any type of notification that MT was reopening their divorce case from years ago. The main reason that I am skeptical is that there were notations on the divorce noting actions that had already been taken. (IMO, these notifications/actions were done on the correct case.) The next day, the error was corrected.

The government has never been known to do anything fast. Plus, MM and MT had moved many times since their divorce. So, unless there was a reason to keep the county updated as to their whereabouts, would it even have their up-to-date information?

JMO.

So did Kohberger's council until reality set in. This guy is even more naive to the workings of the court, investigations and crime, imo. BK thought he was a pro and he caved! Hope the same for MM.

BBM, the million dollar question!
