So did Kohberger's council until reality set in. This guy is even more naive to the workings of the court, investigations and crime, imo. BK thought he was a pro and he caved! Hope the same for MM.

BBM, the million dollar question!
I can't read the guy's mind (thank gawd) just saying what's been reported. He's obviously a smart dude, smarter than BK I bet. He would not plead guilty out of the shoot because he needs a bargaining chip with the DA. I can't imagine he won't plead out at some point, unless their's some crazy story to come.

Yes I agree, perhaps reality has not set in for MM. Maybe he is still living in a distorted fantasy running in his head. He thinks he can outsmart a judge and jury. And once he starts outlining his imagined grievances everyone will be sympathetic to him.

Yes he could be trying to bargain with the Prosecutor, perhaps he thinks that he is still the smartest person in the room. Or he could have some irrational fantasy that he needs his day in court to rant and rave about all the world injustices against him, and that will win the day for him.

Another point is that we can make some educated guesses about what is going on with MM.
But until he starts talking we don't know, he could come up with stuff out of left field.
We will know more as legal events unfold.

He might never say a word, much like BK. Then we’ll never know. MOO

Frankly, pleading "not guilty" is what everyone does, guilty or not. He doesn't strike me as the "irrational fantasy, rant rave", etc. type. But purely based on knowing how difficult it is to become a doctor, let alone a vascular surgeon, he's clearly no dumbbell. He'll maneuver to get the best deal he can get. He probably calculated this before he committed the crime.

not sure about the bargaining chip because in this case, no one is frantically looking for the bodies. maybe the family would not like to go through a trial.

Bargaining chip is to spare the family a painful trial and to save the Ohio taxpayer from paying for a high profile trial?

No worries. I should have been more clear, I should have said that he probably didnt bank on them having a baby monitor.

The one I had for a family member sent me video, it was a Vtech one, but I think it was b/c I set it up through the app. The monitor itself didnt store anything, I hooked it up via wifi and my cloud so it worked similar to a ring camera.
Lol I mistook MM for MT!

If he pleads guilty outright, he is at the DA's mercy (no bargaining chip, and likely DP). If he waits maybe he'll get life w/o parole, rather than the death penalty.

I believe that after he is convicted of multiple felonies, the state medical boards and the DEA would take action to permanently revoke his medical licenses. He would then be permanently prohibited from ever practicing medicine anywhere.
Most areas do not allow convicted felons to hold a state license, unless they have had their rights restored. This is also true for non-medical jobs that require a license.

In my old town, I worked with a young man who at the time was a pre-pharmacy student, and was arrested for throwing beer on a cop at a college festival. He was initially charged with a felony, and the charges were later lowered to IIRC disorderly conduct and public intoxication, both misdemeanors. The officer was at his sentencing, told the judge that he didn't anticipate that he would get in trouble again and said his charges and sentence were fair, and shook the man's hand on the way out. His sentence was a fine and community service, which the judge ruled he could do concurrently with his job, since we worked at a hospital. In the end, he decided not to go to pharmacy school, and pursued another job in health care.

Smart watch maybe?
Don't people normally take off a bulky watch like that before going to bed? I don't own one, but would take it off if I did. Asking folks who wear one what they do.

My wife typically charges hers overnight, but there are nights she forgets and leaves it on. If the victims used the sleep metric capabilities on theirs, they’d have likely had them on. Regardless, with the precise 3:52am time noted, I’m guessing authorities have something (watches, sound, etc.)

Is the time required in order to file? What I mean is, if they didn’t have a precise time of death could they log it as “between X and Y”

I take mine off especially if it needs to charge. I pretty much know how my night will go...

My husband, daughter and son keep them on as they all suffer from night terrors and want to see the information recorded on their watches on how their night went.

Especially after all of us spouses tell them the next morning how bad our own night was due to the night terrors. And now you know why I don't bother wearing one all night.

Many people wear their Apple watches to bed to take advantage of the health, sleep and vitals tracking features that it offers.

He strikes me as that kind of guy.

Regarding a plea deal, it would make sense for him to do that. But on the other hand, he's not going to walk away from this. His life is over in terms of ever walking free again. So why wouldn't he plead not guilty and go to trial? It's two less years he'll spend in prison. He has nothing to lose.

I sleep with my apple watch on, for that exact reason.

And I like that the alarm vibrates or my wrist,
About the baby monitor, Im sure they had one and in all his jealousy and planning, I bet he never thought of that small detail.

In this photo it appears that they both wore smart watches.
Some people charge them when they’re sleeping, which would interrupt their usefulness.
