It depends on the gun. This was likely a semi-automatic which can have a range of magazine capacities. 16 round magazines are very common in semi-auto pistols. This might also show that he DID try to recover the spent casings but, couldn't find those three that the police recovered.

Just wanted to mention. My mom used to be married before she wed my dad, and she left her first husband. No arguments, but when she told me the reason, well, I’d do the same in her shoes. From what I understand, he still loved her but she totally moved on, including geographically.

On her 50th birthday, a phone rang in our flat, I answered. The guy knew my name. He asked for my mom, I called her. Basically, it was her first husband, now an ex, calling eons later to congratulate her. She was very polite (but not super happy), thank you, the same to you, good-bye.

What I want to say: Monique likely had no contacts with MM, but it doesn’t mean that she expected him to be a menace. Just knew that she was, and remained, the biggest love of his life. When/if he’d call, it would be probably mildly irritating. I honestly don’t think they had any contacts, but she probably never expected him to be a menace, just a guy who hadn’t fully “gotten over his love for her”.

What I mean is: it was her past, but if she heard that he expressed interest in her, she would not necessarily view it as “stalking”. Just “he hadn’t moved on” yet. Many people accept existence of someone who may still love them but not expect anything seriously bad from it. Just “he was very smart, and he really loved me, more than I loved him”.

I wonder if she viewed him more as a nuisance in her life hence she took no additional precautions because she, mentally, moved on.

I was going to post the same thing. But was angry and overwhelmed by this new fact because we know what it means.

I kept saying this was a personal murder. A man comes into a family home and enters the bedroom of man and wife who are sleeping in their bed. And kills them.

But now we see another layer to the personal crime. Multiple shots to the heart and face.
He is a heart surgeon so he knows exactly where to shoot to kill them.

Symbolically the heart represents love. The face is identity, the self. And in the case of MT and ST, exceptional beauty. But all counts, good, decent people.

I don't know about other states, but in Ohio around New Year's Eve people are shooting off guns or fire crackers. No one thinks anything of it. I assume MM planned it this way?
