It used to be, but isn’t anymore.Ohio is a common law state so the spouse gets half of the estate (if divorced) regardless and all if the spouse dies

In April, Columbus police received a 911 hang-up call that came from the area of the Tepe home. When a dispatcher called the number back, the woman, who sounded as if she were crying, said she didn't need police help. She did not provide her name or location to the dispatcher. The call was listed as originating from the Tepe home.
My emphasis.Chief Elaine Bryant said that the caller was not Monique Tepe. Police have no history of calls from that address or related to the Tepes, Assistant Chief Greg Bodker said.
In case you missed this video from Peter @ LYKAgree, but noise in a high profile case like this is to be expected. Probably won’t be the last and keeps the public engaged. Particularly since LE is being so silent.
I’ve yet to find a content creator who is doing a good job covering this case. If anyone has a suggestion I’m open.
Thank you for saying this again. The rumors and victim shaming and blaming is getting stupid. there's so much nonsense all over the socials. Thank you for keeping WS rumor freeADMIN NOTE:

Oh, and remember a lady named Tricia Griffith? Pretty sure you've heard of her, eh? Well, earlier in this discussion, Tricia posted, begging about discussing the brother-in-law, and this is what she said:
from: OH - Spencer and Monique Tepe found shot to death at home 2 children unharmed, Columbus, 30 December 2025
Hi Everyone.
I had my friend take a picture of me begging. Scroll down and you will see it.
Please do not talk about the brother-in-law and even hint that he is a suspect or person of interest. He is not. If that changes, then yes, you can discuss him. If he is acting as a spokesperson, you can discuss what he is saying about the case. Imagine you have this horrific murder in your family, and you go online and see people you don't know suggest you are a suspect. Do you know how much stress that would add to a person's life in a time like this? Your words have power, and your words are forever on the Internet.
Change of topic.
On your desktop, scroll down a bit and look to your right. You will see our new interactive, comprehensive rules. If you are on your phone, just scroll to the bottom. This should really help you when you are posting on Websleuths.
Thanks, everyone. I do appreciate your cooperation
Tricia
Uh oh. Well I'm glad Columbus police went on record and cleared that mess up. I didn't get that vibe at all from ST or MT.![]()
Monique Tepe did not make tearful 911 call months before slaying, police say
Columbus police said the speaker in a tearful 911 call that has grabbed national attention is not Monique Tepe.www.yahoo.com

In the same article, the police are saying that the first officer to visit the property on 30th December for the initial wellness check (he then left) went to the wrong address. That clears up another mess.Uh oh. Well I'm glad Columbus police went on record and cleared that mess up. I didn't get that vibe at all from ST or MT.

Ohio couple’s deaths ‘shocking’: Brother-in-law
Spencer Tepe and his wife, Monique, were murdered in their home, north of Columbus, on Dec. 30, while their two young children were inside.www.newsnationnow.com
This says the kids have been with him for the past few days. And another article said Rob and Madeline have the dog Larry.
Last I heard the expression "my man" from a case in Indiana (Delphi). I remember, KA said it about her husband, who became a suspect and finally a convicted double murderer. Hope, I remember well.Yes - it is pocessive and non-descriptive .
I've yet to see anything reported about Exs of ST?YalI I get swngrz vibes from this couple. I’m sure I’m wrong. Not being judgmental or even saying that they put themselves at risk if they were-not anymore at risk than say divorcing a spouse puts you at risk and it sounds like
M’s divorce was quite amicable.
I don’t think it was a robbery or mistaken identity or house
I do think like many he was targeted. But why:
Financial /business related-I did find it pretty odd the Police were called bc he didn’t show for work and wasn’t answering regardless of the fact they couldn’t reach the wife. I wouldn’t have found the 911 call odd if someone had already stopped by the home and didn’t get an answer at the door. Was being in Florida a coincidence or…
Personal grudge: No ex or kid that I remember reading about-maybe something not known to public yet though
I don’t think someone follows you home and lays in wait after feeling disrespected in traffic or somewhere and shoots you.
Maybe a disgruntled female patient-I say this bc of the male seen on camera. I just don’t see someone shooting you over a dental bill, but other issues someone may take into their own hands. NOT saying ST did anything either but I can factually say I once worked with someone that got themselves in trouble making false accusations such as this.
If police have no history of calls at all from the Tepes' address, what call/party was the BIL talking about?![]()

can you elaborate?I feel like someone may have been dipping their toes into something they shouldn't of been. I think were going to be shocked at the reason behind the murders when it comes out. Horrific.

He was about 32 when he got married .
He was asked about the earlier call. He connected it to an incident Spencer had previously told him about that happened some years ago. He explained later that he thought the call he'd just been asked about and the incident he'd heard about from Spencer were one and the same. He was wrong. If police have no history of calls at all from the Tepes' address, what call/party was the BIL talking about?
Misleh, who is married to Spencer's sister, initially told the Surviving The Survivor Podcast that the 911 call was made during a house party at the Tepes home, but has since clarified to PEOPLE that the incident he recalled on the podcast was from years earlier, and he had mixed up dates.
"She said 'my man,' I don't know who that could've been," Misleh told PEOPLE of the woman on the call, insisting that that's not how Monique spoke.
Has anyone seen this article yet? One of their neighbors called the police on December 19th to report someone banging on her door at 2:30 a.m. The article has the 911 call. 911 Call: Dentist's Neighbor Heard Banging on Door Days Before Double Murder
Thought so… heard it on those 911 calls .
