The sheriff is Fred Abdalla.
Per http://www.heraldstaronline.com/page/content.detail/id/577310.html "Fred Abdalla Jr. (is) chief probation office for the juvenile court"

Is this Fred Abdalla, Jr. the same person as the sheriff, or is he the son of said sheriff? In any case, now that the boys are being tried as juveniles, it seems this may be another individual who needs to remove himself from this case.

I just noticed in the one link quoted a rape in Louisville, Ohio: Lville Ohio is a little over an hour away from Steubenville, however, the rape referenced in the link took place in Louisville, KY. Quite a bit further away.

On localleaks, it IS referenced as Louisville, KY.

See this article from 2010 with a pic of him, does this help?

Those two boys weren't stars yet, either. The QB was on 4th string in 2011, I think R may have been at another school. It was anticipated they would do well, but they were typical 10th graders, just getting their shot. And weren't they arrested at football practice? The week of a highly anticipated scrimmage? If you're covering for the almighty program wouldn't you avoid making a spectacle by hauling two boys off Reno Field in handcuffs?

S&BBM

Not according to WTOV9:

Arrest warrants for the two teens were prepared around midnight Wednesday and the suspects were arrested at their homes without incident around 1 or 2 a.m. One suspect was arrested by the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office and the other was arrested by Steubenville police.

I actually DID watch the video all the way through. Once. What stood out to me was the way MN kept grabbing/tugging at his "junk" while he was talking about the rape. I seem to be the first to mention it here. Maybe it's something so obvious that anyone viewing the video would see it, and nobody has felt it needed to be pointed out, but there are a few posters who either did not watch it at all, or only watched a bit of it before becoming disgusted. Sorry if this is inappropriate.

Yes, but it was initially posted on localleaks as Ohio, later updated. Obviously not quick enough to prevent Atlanticwire from copy/pasting the entire blurb into their article.

Ok, fine, but the point is that even if they corrected it, they are still standing by what they are saying.

Imo, the FBI should be brought in to investigate this tragedy...

Color of Law Abuses

U.S. law enforcement officers and other officials like judges, prosecutors, and security guards have been given tremendous power by local, state, and federal government agencies—authority they must have to enforce the law and ensure justice in our country. These powers include the authority to detain and arrest suspects, to search and seize property, to bring criminal charges, to make rulings in court, and to use deadly force in certain situations.

Preventing abuse of this authority, however, is equally necessary to the health of our nation’s democracy. That’s why it’s a federal crime for anyone acting under “color of law” willfully to deprive or conspire to deprive a person of a right protected by the Constitution or U.S. law. “Color of law” simply means that the person is using authority given to him or her by a local, state, or federal government agency.

The FBI is the lead federal agency for investigating color of law abuses, which include acts carried out by government officials operating both within and beyond the limits of their lawful authority. Off-duty conduct may be covered if the perpetrator asserted his or her official status in some way.

During 2009, the FBI investigated 385 color of law cases. Most of these crimes fall into five broad areas:

Excessive force;
Sexual assaults;
False arrest and fabrication of evidence;
Deprivation of property; and
Failure to keep from harm.

Interesting article.

From this past year (April 17, 2012)

snipped

A former Steubenville High School football standout and WVU linebacker was spared jail time after defense witnesses, including local attorneys, testified to his good character during a sentencing hearing on Tuesday.
Prosecutors were asking for 4 to 20 years concurrent jail time for two counts of assault during the commission of a felony (robbery, one apparently armed). He instead received 5 years probation w/ 250 hours community service.

Leading off as a character witness on Tuesday was Jefferson County Prosecutor Jane Hanlin, whose son wrestled at Big Red with Busick. Hanlin said that this was the first time she's ever taken the stand to testify to someone's character and called Busick "one of the nicest kids ever to come out of the community."
A slap on the hand, in my opinion.

What does that even mean? The statement seems to be intended to make it look like there was some kind of rape ring going on with the webmaster of RRR extending to another Ohio town. "Allegedly"

Couldn't agree more, especially in light of their history of 'hinkiness':

snipped:
Steubenville has had a reputation for political corruption. The U.S. Department of Justice alleged that the city and police force had subjected numerous individuals to "excessive force, false arrests, charges, and reports" and had engaged in practices regarding "improper stops, searches, and seizures." The report from the Department also stated that excessive force was levied against individuals who witnessed incidents of police misconduct, and against those who were known critics of the city and its police force. Those individuals were also falsely detained if the city and the police agreed that they were "likely to complain of abuse." It also stated that the officers involved also falsified reports and tampered with official police recorders so that "misconduct would not be recorded."[11][12]

Wow, surprised given what the crimes were...

Morgantown police said they had connected Busick to two robberies in the city. Police said Busick attacked a man then stole the victim's iPhone and wallet. During the second robbery, police said Busick pointed a gun at a group of people inside an apartment, demanded money and beat one man with a gun.

Hanlin, called Busick "one of the nicest kids ever to come out of the community." :what:

You seem to know the facts as much as I do, but you are not exactly stating their claims very clearly about webmaster of RRR, so here they are (paraphrased because I'm not sure I can directly quote the site):

@ several pornographic images (including scantily clad images) of possibly underaged young women (since they look very young) - one appears like it could have been secretly taken in the girls bathroom at the high school.

@ high school students indicated the webmaster of RRR was receiving images from “The Rape Crew” of their “conquests” (they do not claim this is true but that this is what they were told)

@ one image in the E-Mail was strikingly similar to the woman raped in Louisville, Kentucky and so were the circumstances (the image does look a lot like that victim if you have seen it, but no one claimed it was verified to be her)

'Folks, read the comments for the above article'..

'Ask yourself, 'who could not foresee this tragedy coming'?

It looks like his daddy was a possible Steubenville icon since he became a WWE star? Not sure if this had something to do with it all?

My main criticism boils down to "how sloppy do you have to be do have an inaccurate statement in the very first sentence of a blog that purports to find the truth?" re: date(s) of arrest, since it was wrong more than once.

http://www.theatlanticwire.com/national/2013/01/why-nobody-trusts-steubenville/60658/

An interesting article about the towns history>

As the so-called Steubenville Files continue to piece together a blurry narrative based on leaked documents, viral videos, and anonymous accounts from city locals, Steubenville leaders launched a fact-finding site of their own this weekend, aiming to "disseminate the most accurate information" about the city and the football team's alleged involvement in the rape of a 16-year-old girl. But the answer to the question on everyone's mind — who should you trust? — lies beneath the small city's long history of corruption, spanning from a Justice Department investigation to rape survivors just now coming forward with tales of the police discouraging them from speaking out. As a petition seeking "real justice" crosses the threshold that will demand a public response as high up as the White House, here's a look back at Steubenville's reputation, 70 years in the making:

Did the press conference of MN's attorney happen yet? Was said to be at 2:30...was that central or eastern time? Very interested to see how he will spin this. :what:

 • #259
Were they arrested August 11th, 28th or 22nd?

 • #260
Just came in on the tail end of the conference. The volume for the conference was very low and my speaker didn't pick up most of what was said. Am waiting for a transcript or a better version. Sorry to be of no help. :banghead:
