One of my friends posted on facebook, "picked up my grandson at school today. He was so grateful that nothing happened to him or his classmates, and his teacher who kept all of them safe."
It was enough to make me pour myself an alcoholic beverage.

Thank you vigilantes for shining the light on Steubenville, Ohio, and attracting all the vile miscreants to ride your coattails. So a four year old can be overcome with gratitude for being safe in his school. [slow clap]

I think the feeding frenzy is worth noting, fwiw. People using this as a platform for their own agenda are just as vile as those who stood around, imo.

I am all for trying them as juveniles - whatever that really means - but the sentencing provisions need to include something more than holding them for a few years.

Permanent sex offender status and lifetime probation-it isnt my choice, but I could go for that.

Oh, it seems there were a few vile miscreants in the town prior to the blogger or the twitter guy showing up. As for this threat that caused them to call for a shut down, hopefully they'll find out who did it - supposedly it was a local kid on twitter. But the town official's track record for finding evidence online isn't too impressive to date.

Wow just watched the guardians on the today show. Seems they don't give a rats butt about the girl. They disgust me.

Just watched it. Sounds as if they only had him (MR) from 8 - 10 yrs of age and then he went back to his parents? Didn't get the impression they'd been around him much in recent years (until his house arrest)...curious why they were the ones chosen to vouch for his character?

Well, I can tell you a personal experience about "the nicest kid." My son has Aspergers. He is handsome, he is extremely smart, but he has very few friends. He sucks at sports. He came home his freshman year. He had gym class. They had to pair up & play badminton. He got paired up with a REAL football superstar, highly touted & recruited, holds every county record in a foolzball county. I can imagine how challenging it would be to play with my uncoordinated 14 year old, who at the time was about the size of a fifth grader. "he told me I was better at badminton than he was." "he high fived me!" He went on and on. Touched me in a way I can't even describe. Every major college wanted him, but his grades were too bad. Now he is incarcerated 30-40 years for kidnapping, armed robbery of people who easily recognized him. Did I go testify on his behalf? No. (some people did). But it is still tough to think about what he could have been, even outside of football, with the right guidance.

I got all choked up reading how wonderful and tender he was with your son ....and how he ended up. Heart breaking!

NEWS9 has confirmed that the out-of-town judge overseeing the Jefferson County teen rape case granted permission for one of the two defendants to travel with his former legal guardians to California between Dec. 30 through Jan. 5.

The Agrestas' biological son had been invited to participate in an all-star athletic event in California, which is why a court official said they petitioned the judge to allow the trip.

According to a court official, Lipps granted permission for the Agrestas to take the teen defendant with them to California after a detailed itinerary of the trip was submitted to and approved by the court.

What exactly is dox'ing? I thought it was a form of identity theft. One of the anons dox'd MN's 5th grade brother. To be fair, a few of the other Anons discouraged doing that. Just curious what that would entail. Cracking a xbox or ps3 gaming id? My kids are a little older - do 5th graders have that much of an online presence, facebook, twitter, to be dox'd?

Greg Agresta and his wife, Jennifer, took in the boy, whom USA TODAY is not naming because he is a juvenile, for two years when he was 8 years old. Agresta said the boy's mother had "personal issues" and his father was "unavailable."

After getting to know the boy, he and his wife offered to take him into their home as legal guardians while his family worked out some issues. The arrangement lasted two years, but the boy continued to be part of their family after he returned to his biological family.

Walter Madison, who is representing the boy Agresta helped raise, says everything that happened that night was consensual and no force was involved.

I think it's ugly that these parents are calling the girl a liar given all we know. I just can't believe people being so cruel.

They disgusted me, literally made my stomach turn when I watched them on the Today Show

If you search Google for "mommyish" and "The Parents Of The Steubenville Rape Crew", you will find an article that shows screen shots of M<modsnip> real parents comment made in social media... really ugly

I'm sure the townspeople are oh so grateful for the intervention. I'm sure the schoolchildren who were frightened to the point of vomiting will see the bigger picture when its all said & done.

Justice feels good.

..." The Agrestas claim they never asked Richmond about what happened the night of the alleged rape.
“It doesn’t matter to us,” Jennifer Agresta said. “We love him regardless of what happened that evening.”

I agree. This is a DISGUSTING statement.

ETA: It is fine to feel unconditional love for your foster son. And lovely to express it. But to say it does not matter if he raped an unconscious girl or not, that is sickening, imo.

And I wonder why they didn't ask him what happened. That would be the first thing I would ask my DS if God Forbid, I ever needed to.

It also sickened me when Matt asked them about his reaction..... They sat there unwilling to say a word! The lawyer had to jump in and save them.
