That is NOT home arrest. Why did they ask if he could be in their care if they weren't willing to stay at home?

And, WTH?

"Of more than 60 witnesses to the alleged events of August 11 -12 interviewed only three have testified."

But yet, they are already letting one of only two people arrested travel out of state? I hope these 60 witnesses were still thoroughly interviewed and recorded a long time ago?

One of the accused in the Ohio rape case that has outraged America enjoyed a six day vacation in California and watch a football game while supposedly under house arrest, it emerged today.

So he is back now presumably. Good for him-think he went to Disneyland? This reminds me of Casey Anthony's trip to Palm Springs.

That's just wrong. Maybe they should start to consider this man as a flight risk. Seems his family has the means to help him disappear if they're so inclined.

And, would they do anything to them if he did disappear and they just claimed they couldn't help it, didn't know where he was? No, I think not.

and the defendants criminal records are sealed in many cases...

"Do the math"...

http://www.opd.ohio.gov/Juvenile/JV_Sealing.htm

Sealing and Expunging Juvenile Court Records
ORC §2151.35.5-2151.35.8

How to Seal and Expunge Juvenile
Records in Ohio Counties

Changes to the sealing law are effective September 28, 2012 as part of SB 337 reforms.

What is Sealing and Expunging?

Sealing: The juvenile file is removed from the court’s main section of records and placed in a separate location that is only accessible by the juvenile court
Expunging: The juvenile file is destroyed or deleted, and is permanently gone from the court’s records
My math found this from your link:

What records cannot be sealed and expunged?
Aggravated Murder
Murder
Rape

Except where a plea negotiation for a lesser charge is routine and perceived...

Remember, the Chief Prosecutor was a character witness in a prior armed robbery case of a Big Red Football player that received only probation, while facing up to 20 years in prison...

The Chief Prosecutor wisely recused herself from this case. She probably shouldn't have been a character witness in that other case, but she was. I don't understand why her name keeps coming up since her actual professional involvement with this case seems to have been minute.

"Jefferson County Prosecutor Jane Hanlin recused herself from the case Monday (August 27th) and announced two attorneys from the Ohio Attorney General's Crimes Against Children unit have been appointed as special assistant prosecutors for the county.

"I will not prosecute this case, but will share what I have learned during the initial investigation with Associate Assistant Attorney General Marianne Hemmeter and Associate Assistant Attorney General Jennifer Brumby," stated Hanlin.

"As special assistant prosecutors (they) will be assigned full authority to investigate and evaluate all facts, circumstances and chains of events leading to, related to, connected to and or subsequent to an alleged rape and or kidnapping," Hanlin said in her petition to be recused that was filed with Jefferson County Common Pleas Court Judge Joseph Bruzzese Monday."

The family's other child had a scheduled sports event in Cali so they let the family take him with. Now he/they are back :::shrug:::

I think that's true, but the court released him to their custody so they are currently responsible for his "keeping" pending his trial.

I read an article upthread, which I cannot find right now, but does any one else remember reading that the guardians had asked the court for permission for M. to attend a football camp in California?

Now they are saying they just took him along on a 'family trip.' But I think he was already enrolled in a football camp--the kind that college scouts attend looking for recruits.

I am back pedaling some, but I am trying to get a few things straight in my mind-

Atlantic Wire Article on CK

This article was written 1/7/2013 and was updated with a statement from Jane Hanlin. The title of the article indicates that CK was a host of one of the parties the night the victim was raped.

Here is a snip from the original article:
The Steubenville rape case is rapidly broadening in blame to include more of what the hackers at Anonymous and LocalLeaks have dubbed the "Rape Crew," as Kent State University became the second college to publicly acknowledge it's paying close attention. The school is now reviewing the status of an accepted student athlete who played for the Steubenville High football team — and may have hosted the party where the alleged rape took place.

That is not what the title indicates-the title says Steubenville Rape Case's Party Host...

Jane Hanlin's statement:
All allegations that me or my son or my home are involved in any way whatsoever in this criminal matter are 100 percent false. None of the alleged events occurred at my home. My son was not present at any time while the victim was alleged to have been unconscious, photographed, videotaped or sexually assaulted. Any statement to the contrary is 100 percent false.

It appears, according to the article, that KSU is reviewing his scholarship.

There is a pretty big disconnect here from the apparent some what firm belief that CK was involved in this case, and Jane Hanlin's assertions that he wasnt anywhere near the situation.

But she doesnt state firmly that there wasnt a party at her home that night.

Which brings me back to my groundhog day question-where were the parents, who gave the kids alcohol and at what homes were the parties?

Deal or no deal?

STEUBENVILLE - Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine said his office did not grant immunity from prosecution in exchange for the testimony of witnesses who photographed and videotaped a 16-year-old girl on the night she allegedly was raped by two Steubenville High School student-athletes.

Walter Madison, defense attorney for one of the 16-year-old defendants, asserted Wednesday that the state agreed not to charge the witnesses in exchange for their cooperation with the prosecution of the defendants.

"There was immunity given," Madison declared. "They were granted immunity in exchange for their cooperation."

"We've made no deals with anyone," DeWine responded Wednesday.

I am voting for No Deal, Lois Lane. Defense attys can say whatever they want-it is harder for AG's to get away with that.

The upshot of those statements, to me, is that there is in fact video and photos of this event.

I don't recall anything about a football camp, but I do recall making the following post:
